Does martin love katy because i think she loves him but why does he refuse to get back with her?

erm, b'cos she's in a right state after the death of her dad and very vunerable and basically all over the place, not knowing what she wants. Oh yeah, and she aborted his baby. It's probably b'cos of the fact that he loves her that he won't get back together with her.

I was just wondering because apparently he has a heart to heart with janice or somethink and breaks down about the consquences of him and katy getting together i think he sees it as an mistake thats why?

Actually on spoliers posts on this website and the official corrie site it does state that Janice comforts Martin I haven't read Eileen's name anywhere!
Isn't it Martin that discovers Katy in her old house after she comits suicide? If it is then that must be hard on him to see the person he loves...well near death

i think he just feels sorry for her not loves her
but they were together for a long time, and had a baby together. I can understand him being angry with her for aborting it, but he would just fall out of love with her. Even if he denyed it, he would still have some feelings for her, no matter what they were

I dnt think he could switch his feeling off for just like that
i think that he loves her still you could tell last night and i do think that if all that happened hadnt happened then they would get back together!!

I wouldn't be surprised if at some stage Martin and Gail get back together, it does seem to be something that Corries does quite alot, break up an long established couple, only to have them eventually get back together, for example, Ken & Deidre, Kevin & Sally, Jim & Liz....

I'm not sure if the letter is written specifically to Martin or not but I do know it contains a full confession. Does anyone know how Angela will be finally written out? Does she still go to prison for helping cover up the murder or is Katy's confession discredited, or does she just leave?

Apparently martin goes to see angela in jail and tell her he knows the truth but she denies it and tell him that katy is innocent but he doesnt believe but then she tell him the truth
Then he has the real dillemia of taking the letter to the police because if he does and katy wakes up she will be facing an murder charge but he realises he has to do the right thing
He tell craig the truth as well he doesnt take it that well he is destroyed and so is martin when katy dies (Source soaplife)
But i think angela goes down anyway for being an accessory to the murder
Sean Wilson, the actor who plays Martin Platt on Coronation Street, is leaving the soap after 20 years.
The producer and writers of the hit ITV soap have decided to write out his character.
Wilson, 40, will leave Coronation Street towards the end of the year.
Coronation Street said it was likely to leave the door open for a possible return.
Final details of his departure storyline are still being discussed.
Last year, viewers saw Martin begin an affair with schoolgirl Katy Harris (Lucy Jo Hudson).
He was almost killed by her brother and devastated when Katy aborted his child.
Martin, who has been seen on the soap since 1985, was originally the prime suspect when Katy murdered her father.
The decision to write Martin's character out was taken at a long-term story conference this week. Producer Tony Wood said: "There are times as the producer of a show such as Coronation Street that you have to make difficult decisions about the future of a character.
"Sean has been a valued member of cast for 20 years - during my time as producer he has been terrific and his performance during the recent Killer Katy storyline has been superb.
"However , after a run of dramatic storylines for Martin, we felt that there was nowhere left for the character to go at the moment.
"We are currently working on storyline ideas for his departure."

Wilson, who plays nurse Martin Platt, will leave the soap towards the end of the year. Although final details of his exit storyline are still being discussed, a spokeswoman said it was "likely" that the door will be left open for a possible return in the future.

Well it said in the press release that the door has been left open for him to return, same with Sid Owen's Eastenders character Ricky Butcher. Next on the list should be Gail Platt and Mr Appleyard.

Why dont they just get him back with gail or something? they could do something with him, rather than just axing him! Dont get me wrong, he's not exactly my fave on coronation street! but 20 years he's been on the show, he doesn't really deserve this does he? :searchme:
I think it is a great shame that he is going he is a great actor and has had some great storylines it would be better to maybe get rid of some of the newer awful characters that they have introduced and maybe revive some of the older actors

Martin has been in the soap for a long time and as in the real world nobody has a job for life these days,sound hard may be, but many actors dont get roles that last 20 years.Son he has been lucky.
he has done some excellent storylines over the years. He will be missed

How can you say Norris and Roy are useless and worthless? If there were more characters like them, Corrie would be a better place and a better soap.
Oh yes this storyline with Roys invention really kept me gripped. It boosted the ratings no end :p

I personally don't believe this storyline (okay I may have to eat my words) but it just seems too ridiculous. Lets face it though all soaps go through a ridiculous plot phase - don't forget the mouse storyline in Easties.
Norris is definitely not a pointless character - he is great. The twins and scooter should definitely go in my opinion.
I would also revert Shelley back to the old Shelley - not the one who lets Charlie walk all over her and never fights back.

That worked IMHO because it wasn't a deliberate attempt at comedy it was a reason to introduce the cat as a symbol that Kat was about to burst back onto our screens. It made for some comical dialogue as always between the ever superior Dorothy Cotton and her estranged husband Jim Branning and it was cleared up in the space of a week or so.

I wasn't trying to imply EE wasn't good at the time, just that soaps go through a ridiculous plot at some stage.
They should write Sean Wilson out in an explosive storyline... not some lame one where no-one will really care.

It's total trash and makes me feel so angry. Mind you he is rather wooden so he couldn't really pull off anything spectacular.

It's on very dodgy ground at the moment and it's losing viewers by the episode. If things don't improve then I can see it getting axed by the end of the year and replaced by 'Celebrity' something or other. This seems to be the direction ITV in general is taking at the moment it's going down a really trashy route and is looking like one of them cheap 'Sky' channels. Thank god we still have the BBC eh? :clap:
