Former soldier Nicholas Cartwright will make his debut on Channel Seven's Home and Away on Monday, seven years after quitting the army.
The 33-year-old is set to play the role of Summer Bay's latest cop, Senior Constable Cash Newman.
'Transitioning from the Australian Defence Force to civilian life can be a very difficult process for a lot of vets and I was no different. I didn't want to go back to a 9-5 job,' he told The Daily Telegraph.
Nicholas enrolled in an acting course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art after leaving the military.
'I was always in creative spaces before I joined the army and I kind of just gravitated back that way,' he explained.
Nicholas admitted getting into character 'makes you feel a certain way and playing a cop on the show is simply the best'.
n a new trailer for the long-running drama, Nicholas' character, police officer Cash Newman, is seen investigating the discovery of a woman's body.
Dean Thompson (Patrick O'Connor) fears it's his half-sister Mackenzie Booth (Emily Weir) after she admitted to him she had hit rock bottom following a devastating break-up with Ari Parata (Rob Kipa-Williams) and suffering an ectopic pregnancy.
A concerned Dean tells Cash 'he has a bad feeling' about the discovery, sensing it could be his sister after she gatecrashed a house party at the Parata residence.
Meanwhile, Justin Morgan (James Stewart) faces troubles of his own after he is found by a new gym employee at the beach with bloodied hands.
In recent weeks, he has suffered from an addiction to painkillers, while his girlfriend Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou) is focused on tracking down con artist Susie McAllister (Bridie Carter), who scammed them out of their life savings.
Justin is later seen having stern words with gym manager Tane Parata (Ethan Browne), before he is arrested by Cash at his home.

Home and Away reveals tragedy from Cash Newman's past
Jasmine hears two different stories from Cash and Felicity.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a37444024/home-and-away-spoilers-cash-newman-past/
Home and Away spoilers follow from Tuesday's (August 31) Australian episode, which some UK readers may prefer to avoid.
Note: The following article contains discussion of themes including suicide that some readers may find upsetting.
Home and Away has delved into Cash Newman's backstory.
Cash, played by show newcomer Nicholas Cartwright, has been holding back details about his past ever since he arrived in Summer Bay a few weeks ago.
Recent episodes on air in Australia saw Cash's love interest Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost) become curious when she noticed him shutting down any conversations about his parents.
In Tuesday's episode on Channel 7, it was left to Cash's sister Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) to help explain why.
Felicity said that their father was murdered years ago and the killer was never found. She added that the tragedy had a big impact on Cash, who'd found the body.
Speaking to Jasmine about Cash's reluctance to talk about this, Felicity claimed: "He should. He needs to come to terms with what happened. Cash is great, he's so great.
"But he's damaged. Just so you know what you're getting into."
Later, Jasmine spoke to Cash about Felicity's revelation and was surprised when he offered up a completely different version of events.
Cash explained that their father actually took his own life and Felicity keeps telling the "murder" story because she can't come to terms with this.
He told Jasmine: "I was 12. I'd just won an award at school and I raced home to tell him.
"He didn't leave a note or anything, no goodbye, so Flick just decided that it wasn't true. She was so young. I didn't fight it but she's still in denial. She could really turn a corner if she just accepted the truth."
That evening, Cash spoke to Felicity about her conversation with Jasmine and was frustrated when she stuck to her belief in the murder theory.
Annoyed by Cash's latest attempts to convince her otherwise, Felicity stormed off ? intensifying the problems that already exist between the siblings.
Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 in October.

Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright hints at secrets from Cash's past
Cash might not be all that he seems.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a38310908/home-and-away-nicholas-cartwright-cash-newman-secrets/
Home and Away spoilers follow.
Home and Away police officer Cash Newman may seem like a model citizen, but actor Nicholas Cartwright has hinted that there is more to the calm cop than initially meets the eye.
Since his arrival in Summer Bay, Cash has settled into the community well and has struck up a romance with Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost), but Nicholas has teased to Inside Soap that there are "skeletons" in his character's closet just waiting to be uncovered.
"He's definitely not the level-headed guy that he appears to be..." Nicholas revealed, although he didn't drop any details of exactly what Cash might be hiding.
The actor did, however, share his thoughts on Cash's relationship with Jasmine, saying that he feels the couple are "made for each other".
"It's just a really nice love story, which is quite rare in soap," he said. "They're going from strength to strength, and I'm really excited to see where the writers go with it next. I have a beautiful working relationship with Sammy, so we're both looking forward to their relationship continuing."
The other important person in Cash's life is his sister, Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis). Despite the fact that feisty Felicity has caused Cash no end of trouble, the siblings clearly have a very special bond ? something which Nicholas says is a reflection of real life.
"That's been so much fun to film! Me and Jacqui Purvis just have this fantastic rapport already as actors," he said. "I have a little sister in real life, and we have a very banterous relationship, so that's what it's like. Felicity is the only person in the Bay that Cash can be himself around."
Nicholas also teased further details about the upcoming UK 2021 finale episode, which sees Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) poisoned by his mystery stalker and the attendees at Martha Stewart (Belinda Giblin)'s mental health fundraiser also being put in danger by a poison gas attack.
"What happens during the cliffhanger this week spirals into a much larger event," he teased, adding: "There are huge ramifications for Cash!"
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR (UK), with first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.

Home and Away's cast and crew often dub themselves one big, happy family.
And life on the Summer Bay set is about to become an even bigger family affair!
Nicholas Cartwright, who plays police officer Cash Newman, announced on Tuesday night that his sister Zara will be joining the Summer Bay circle.
The 33-year-old shared a series of behind-the-scenes snaps of himself and Zara - and we already can't wait to see them on screen together!
"Not sure if y'all have seen the promo, but my beautiful lil sister will be joining us on @homeandaway this week!" he penned.
"I've never had more fun on set. It was literally impossible to not look over at her and laugh with joy between takes. Such a wonderful moment to work with family in such a bizarre world.
"Welcome to the team @nottherealzarazoe ! Tune in to see what we get up to 👮*♂️👩*⚖️"
Nicholas' announcement was met with excitement from Home and Away fans and Nicholas' fellow cast and crew.
Summer Bay's makeup artist Laura Vasquez commented: "Best looking siblings in the biz" while Home and Away's associate producer Brodie Macpherson wrote: "The bloody best ❤️"
While Zara has been in the Aussie acting industry since 2012, Home and Away will undoubtedly skyrocket her career.
She previously starred in the 2015 drama film Skin Deep as well as the Rachel Griffiths-directed Ride Like a Girl alongside Teresa Palmer and Sam Neill.
Nicholas, who graduated from Sydney drama school NIDA in 2019, joined the cast in June 2021 after spending six years in the Australian Army a rifleman.
Later, when he ended up at NIDA, Nicholas was in the same class as another future co-star, Ethan Browne, who plays Tane Parata.
"I was extremely jealous, actually [of his gig]. We were really good mates at NIDA," Nicholas told TV WEEK last year.
"We were a little bit older than a lot of the others there and we'd had some life experiences, so we gravitated towards each other."

The candles are lit, the champagne is on ice and a shining diamond ring glimmers in its box. Now all police officer Cash has to do is wait for his future bride.
In Home And Away this week, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) is anxiously awaiting his girlfriend's return. Jasmine (Sam Frost) has been spending time at her in-laws' farm, a sanctuary for her whenever she misses her late husband Robbo (Jake Ryan).
But with her arrival in Summer Bay imminent, Cash wants to make it one to remember ? he's going to propose!
Despite their hurdles of late, including the unexpected arrival of Jasmine's half-siblings Rose (Kirsty Marillier) and Xander (Luke Van Os), he's determined to start afresh.
"Cash is head over heels in love with Jasmine," Nicholas tells TV WEEK.
"He lucked out and found a girl he really connects with. But he's always getting in his own way with it and worries that he's going to stuff it up."
Unable to keep the big news to himself, Cash asks Xander to help set up the perfect dinner. It's a thrill for the paramedic, who has struggled to handle the pressures of his job.
While setting up, the two men bond over the mental stresses of their jobs. As a policeman, Cash understands how hard it can be. Then, he asks Xander to be his best man.
That night, Cash suits up in preparation for Jasmine's return. But as time ticks by, he begins to worry. Perhaps he got the day she was returning wrong?
When his calls to Jasmine go unanswered, Cash races to find Irene (Lynne McGranger), who is none the wiser as to her whereabouts.
As morning comes and there's still no Jasmine, Cash fears the worst and reports her missing.

Home and Away's Cash Newman left devastated in Jasmine Delaney mystery
The show continues to address Jasmine's absence.

Home and Away spoilers follow from Tuesday's Australian episode (July 26), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has kept fans guessing over Jasmine Delaney's whereabouts in the show's latest Australian episode.
Jasmine left Summer Bay a few weeks ago to help the family of her late husband Robbo, with no plans for the character to return following Sam Frost's decision to leave the role.
This week's episodes on Channel 7 in Australia have seen Jasmine's partner Cash Newman optimistically prepare for her to come home.
Cash had asked Jasmine to return to Summer Bay earlier than planned ? and he hoped to make the occasion extra special by proposing to her.
Unfortunately for Cash, there was heartbreak ahead when Jasmine failed to show up, with no explanation over why.
Cash had prepared a romantic dinner, complete with champagne, for a perfect proposal ? but he was forced to abandon it when Jasmine was nowhere to be seen.
Cash tried to phone Jasmine and the Shaw family, but none of them were answering his calls.
The local policeman initially assumed that his sister Felicity must have spoken to Jasmine and told her about his recent mistake with Rose Delaney.
Earlier this year, Cash got drunk and spent the night with Rose in her car. Nothing happened between them, but Cash feared the situation could be misconstrued and he held off from telling Jasmine about his night with her sister.
Felicity denied speaking to Jasmine, but this only made Cash feel worse as he started to fear that something was seriously wrong.
Tuesday's Australian episode ended with Cash deciding to report Jasmine as a missing person.
However, the end-of-episode preview teased a new twist to the tale, as Cash was shown taking his frustrations out on a gym punchbag, before abruptly telling Irene Roberts that Jasmine and the Shaws are all fine.
But if Jasmine isn't in danger, why isn't she coming back?

Home and Away policeman Cash Newman has been left fighting for his life in the show's latest Australian episode.
Cash found himself caught in the crossfire as the Parata family's troubles with a dangerous biker gang came to a head in dramatic scenes.
Recent episodes on air in Australia have seen Tane and Nikau face danger after being tracked down by the biker gang, who held a grudge over some money that Ari once stole.
Demanding repayment, newcomer Tex Wheeler and the other gang members started trying to launder money through Tane's gym business.
Monday's episode saw Home and Away return to Australian screens following a mid-season break for the Commonwealth Games.
The tense comeback episode saw Tane confront the gang at their hideout, wearing a wire as he secretly cooperated with the police.
Tane pushed the gang for exact details on the money laundering plan, hoping that they'd incriminate themselves.
Local cop Rose Delaney listened in from a nearby police van and was soon joined by Cash.
ane's efforts were interrupted when Nikau followed him to the gang's hideout and began causing problems, angering the gang members.

Home and Away spoilers follow from Tuesday's Australian episode (August 9), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has left Cash Newman's fate hanging in the balance in the show's latest Australian episode.
The local policeman was caught in the crossfire this week as the Parata family's troubles with a dangerous biker gang spiralled out of control.
In Tuesday's episode on Channel 7 in Australia, Cash was rushed to hospital after taking a bullet during a police operation to bring in the gang members.
Cash's loved ones in the Bay were all left upset as it became clear that his chances of survival were touch and go.
When new doctor Bree Cameron spoke to Cash's sister Felicity Newman about the sad situation, she tried her best to provide an optimistic outlook.
However, in a separate conversation with Xander Delaney ? who'd brought in Cash while on paramedic duty ? Bree admitted that she may have given Felicity false hope.
Bree also provided a sombre warning to Rose Delaney, telling her: "There are no guarantees. I wish there were, but Cash lost a lot of blood and the internal damage was extensive. If he makes it through the next couple of days, he's looking at a long recovery.
"But he's young, strong, fit. All of that works in his favour."
Shortly afterwards, Bree's worst fears were realised when Cash went into cardiac arrest in his hospital bed.

Home and Away spoilers follow from Wednesday's Australian episode (August 10), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away's Cash Newman looks set to pull through after the show's shock shooting drama.
A huge storyline on air in Australia this week has seen Cash take a bullet after a police operation to deal with Tex Wheeler's biker gang.
The gang were initially introduced as new villains causing trouble for the Parata family. When a sting operation to bring them down spiralled out of control, gunshots were fired and Cash was critically injured.
Wednesday's episode on Channel 7 in Australia saw Cash's fate continue to hang in the balance after he went into cardiac arrest in his hospital bed.
Doctors soon realised that Cash had an internal bleed, so would need to be rushed back into surgery.
This posed risks, as only hours had passed since his last operation.
Emotions ran high as Cash's loved ones waited for news. His sister Felicity bitterly blamed Rose Delaney for the police operation going wrong, particularly as Cash had waded in without wearing a bullet-proof vest.
Fortunately, Summer Bay's new doctor Bree Cameron was later able to report that Cash's bleed had been resolved and he was now stable again.
Cash was put into an induced coma, but was expected to make a full recovery.
After apologising to Rose for lashing out at her, Felicity vowed to stay by Cash's side until he's well enough to be discharged from hospital.

Home and Away's Cash Newman and Eden Fowler have hooked up again in the show's latest Australian episode.
Cash and Eden were drawn back together after both facing difficult times in their personal and professional lives.
A new storyline on air in Australia has seen Cash try to adopt a "bad boy" image after a series of setbacks.
After being shot by biker gang leader Marty and being dumped by his girlfriend Jasmine Delaney, Cash has told his sister Felicity that nice guys finish last. The local policeman has been visibly cold towards Felicity and his friends in Summer Bay ever since.
Cash also recently spent the night with his old flame Eden, but surprised her by being uncharacteristically frosty towards her the next morning. He insisted their time together should stay a secret.
In Wednesday's (September 21) episode on Channel 7 in Australia, Cash told Felicity that he has been placed on a period of enforced leave at work.
This is because a thief, who recently stole from Remi Carter when he was busking, has accused Cash of using excessive force while arresting him.
Meanwhile, Eden found herself at odds with her Lyrik bandmates over the group's future following a blunder from their new manager Justin Morgan.
When Eden discovered that Justin had lost the band's regular slot at Salt, she insisted on sacking him.
Theo Poulos and Kirby Aramoana disagreed, feeling that Justin deserved a second chance after repeatedly helping Lyrik in recent weeks.
In the closing moments of Wednesday's episode, Cash visited Eden at home and they bonded over their stressful times.

Home and Away: Cash and Felicity's foster father make a shock return
Blast from the past
https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/home-and-away/home-and-away-cash-and-felicity-foster-dad-75394
With Felicity's wedding just around the corner, her brother Cash has some big ideas to make it a day to remember. From doing up their late dad's beat-up old ute to encouraging Flick to reconnect with their foster dad Gary, he's got a lot going on.
But this week in Home And Away, Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) isn't that appreciative of Cash's (Nicholas Cartwright) thoughtful efforts when she discovers Gary (Peter Phelps) is in town. While Cash is overjoyed to see him, Flick feels differently.
"They have a rocky history," Jacqui tells TV WEEK. "She feels ambushed by him and Cash. She'd hoped Cash would support her decision to not see him, but instead, he forces her to face him. This drives a wedge between her and Cash."
Deep down, Flick's feelings about Gary don't stem only from the painful loss of her father ? she feels guilty for the way she treated him as a teenager.
"Gary came into her life after her dad died, which was confronting for her," Jacqui explains. "Naturally, she rebelled and treated Gary badly. Now, she's guilt- ridden and doesn't want to see him."
Hoping that the pair might make peace, Cash encourages his sister to put the past behind them. But when Flick and Gary come face-to-face, she makes it clear she's not interested in reconciling.
Thankfully, an understanding Gary can see through her facade, pulling her into a warm embrace. "Flick realises she'll never be able to move past this pain if she doesn't confront it," Jacqui explains.
Meanwhile, Cash gets to work with garage owner Justin (James Stewart) on restoring his dad's ute for the big day. As he's tinkering away, he suddenly hears his dad's favourite song playing over the radio. Then, moments later, he finds his mum's long-lost necklace hidden in the vehicle. "The necklace has been missing for so many years," Nicholas says. "And right when Cash is trying to make sure a part of their father is at Flick's wedding, a piece of their mum turns up too." Proud of his sister for mending things with Gary, he gives her their mother's long-lost necklace to wear on her wedding day for good luck.
Things are starting to look up for the nervous bride! Can she keep up this positive streak all the way to the altar?

Home and Away's Cash Newman vows revenge ahead of Tex Wheeler return
What will he do?
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a42522060/home-and-away-spoilers-cash-revenge-tex/
Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian-pace episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has hinted that Cash Newman could go out for revenge over the disastrous road incident on his sister Felicity's wedding day.
Last week, the show's 2023 return episode in Australia saw Felicity Newman and Eden Fowler end up on a collision course with Justin Morgan and Leah Patterson on the road, leaving lives hanging in the balance.
Eden was driving Felicity to her wedding when she found herself unable to brake, causing a crash. Felicity, Justin and Leah all made it out relatively unscathed, but Eden has not regained consciousness in hospital and may have a permanent brain injury.
Although Cash initially accused Justin of shoddy workmanship, since he'd helped to fix up Felicity's wedding car, Monday's Australian episode (January 16) saw the truth about the crash come to light.
Cash's police colleagues reported back to him by confirming that somebody had deliberately cut the brake lines.
The policeman made an immediate apology to Justin for unfairly blaming him, but his thoughts then turned to who could have been responsible.
Cash correctly guessed that the culprits were the biker gang who'd previously put a hit out on him. The grudge stems back to Cash killing gang leader Marty in self-defence last year.
Later, Cash paid a visit to an unconscious Eden's bedside and shared his plans to get even with whoever was responsible for her injuries.
Cash said: "Sorry that you got caught up in all this. Whoever did this to you, were after me. Don't worry ? I'm going to find them and I'm going to make them pay for what they've done."
This week's episodes will see gang member Tex Wheeler make a return when Cash visits him in prison for a showdown.

Home and Away reveals shocking final showdown for Cash and Tex
It's going to be "brutal".

Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian-pace episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has revealed a shocking final showdown between Cash and Tex following Cash's visit to the latter in prison.
Last year, viewers saw Cash's sister Felicity and Eden Fowler involved in a life-threatening car crash with Justin Morgan and Leah Patterson on Felicity's wedding day.
Though the crash was initially thought to be a result of shoddy workmanship, it was later revealed to be the work of a criminal.
Working for biker gang member Tex, the criminal cut the brakes of the car in an attempt on Cash's life for previously killing the biker gang's leader Marty in self defence.
Following the revelation Cash paid a visit to Tex in prison, spoilers for next week shown in a new teaser trailer have revealed that Tex will escape in order to personally enact his revenge upon Cash ? but will he succeed in ending Cash's life?
In upcoming scenes, Cash's life is on the line when he is kidnapped and taken to a strange and secret location at Tex's bidding.
During a shocking and terrifying final showdown, Tex will take the resident officer hostage at gunpoint. Described as a "brutal final showdown," Cash is stranded in the mystery location with no one around to save him, but will this final head-to-head cost him his life?
That's not all, as fans can expect some new arrivals as Dean and Ziggy's baby is born, as well as Dean's mother Karen turning up unexpectedly (via TV Tonight).
Hatching a plan to get rid of their unexpected guest is cut short when Ziggy's waters break and the overbearing mother-in-law inserts herself into the process. After the baby is born, things seem to be going well, but then take a turn for the worse, and the couple will face a tough challenge ahead.

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK and Australian viewers.
Home and Away's Cash Newman and Eden Fowler are set to face a crisis in their relationship, after a prank uncovers some home truths.
TV Week reports that after Cash's sister Felicity and Tane Parata walk down the aisle, Cash wakes up the next morning nursing a heavy hangover and struggling to remember the events of the night before.
As he tries to piece together the events of the evening, he is shocked to notice that Eden is wearing the engagement ring he bought for Jasmine.
Eden then takes the opportunity to play a prank on her boyfriend and pretend they got engaged the night before. While Cash laughs along nervously, inside he's panicking.
Cash loves Eden, but isn't sure he's ready to make that commitment. When Cash finally admits he doesn't remember proposing, Eden is forced to come clean about the prank.
However, the laughter ends abruptly when Eden realises how Cash truly feels about marriage, leading her to question their future.
The scenes will air in Australia this week as part of the soap's blockbuster fortnight to celebrate its milestone 8,000th episode. UK viewers will see the scenes in May.
Along with Felicity and Tane's wedding, the episodes will also see Xander Delaney suffering a tragic loss at work, leading him to question his work as a paramedic.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.

Home and Away hints at new rift in Cash and Eden story
Remi puts his foot in it.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a43518951/home-and-away-spoilers-cash-eden-rift/
Home and Away spoilers follow from Wednesday's Australian episodes (April 5), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has hinted that Remi Carter could become the next obstacle facing Cash Newman and Eden Fowler's relationship.
Cash and Eden returned to Summer Bay following a brief holiday in Wednesday's Australian episodes, but they weren't in a loved-up state for long.
The latest problem cropped up when Cash realised that he'd have to go back to sharing Eden with her best friend Remi, who also wanted to spend time with her.
The Lyrik bandmates are often inseparable, but their relationship is purely platonic.
When Cash headed over to Eden's place to catch up with her, he overheard a playful conversation between her and Remi.
Remi was teasing Cash for buying Eden a bracelet. The romantic gesture clearly meant a lot to Cash, as he'd paid for the expensive item by trading in the engagement ring that he once purchased for Jasmine Delaney.
Cash walked in to find Eden and Remi playfully wrestling, which fuelled his fears that three would be a crowd.
The next morning, Eden confronted Remi after realising that Cash had been awkward ever since the bracelet blunder.
Eden complained: "He heard you making jokes about my bracelet last night. He's barely said a word since."
When Remi pointed out that it was just a joke, Eden insisted: "I want you to go and apologise. I need you two to get along."
Can Remi smooth the waters and convince Cash that he has nothing to worry about?
Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 in May.

Home and Away introduces a new enemy for Cash Newman
Detective Madden issues a warning.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a44866829/home-and-away-spoilers-cash-newman-detective-madden/
Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian-pace episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has introduced a new nemesis for Cash Newman as part of the ongoing Harper and Dana Matheson storyline.
Jonny Pasvolsky has been cast in the role of Detective Madden, who made his first appearance in Monday's Australian episode (August 21).
A new storyline currently on air in Australia has seen Cash reconnect with his old friend Harper, who wants help to clear the name of her sister Dana.
Dana is on the run after her boyfriend Ollie seemingly framed her for drugs charges to save himself. When Harper asked Cash to take a look at the case, she failed to mention that she was secretly keeping Dana hidden at Irene Roberts' house.
In Monday's episode on Channel 7, Detective Madden was introduced as the senior police figure who'd been overseeing Dana's case.
Madden was clearly annoyed to find that Cash was asking awkward questions about the investigation, undermining his authority.
However, he also appeared to have a more sinister reason for not wanting Cash to dig any further, making a mysterious phone call and saying: "I need all the information you can get on Senior Constable Cash Newman."
Later, Cash was called back to the police station for another conversation with Madden, who'd discovered his personal friendship with Harper.
Madden was triumphant as Cash had failed to mention this when defending Dana.
The detective warned: "It's not okay to do favours for mates, so why don't you just stop this right now? Let me put Matheson away before you get yourself in some real trouble."
Shortly afterwards, Cash's day got worse as he sprung Harper hiding Dana at Irene's house, potentially implicating him in their antics.
Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 in October.

Home and Away spoilers: Cop Cash switches sides
Cash makes an alarming discovery in Dana?s case.
https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/home-and-away/home-and-away-cop-cash-dana-madden-rose-78645
In Home and Away, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) continues to help old friend Harper (Jessica Redmayne) and her younger sister Dana (Ally Harris) under the suspicious eye of his boss, Madden (Jonny Pasvolsky).
Dana, who is being investigated for drug charges, has stayed in hiding until they can prove her innocence.
But doing so proves difficult with Madden convinced she is guilty.
When Harper is called in for questioning, Cash tries to arm himself with information.
Dana reveals that she was having lunch with Harper on the day the drugs were stolen ? but somehow those details never made it into her statement to Madden. Cash assures Dana that the restaurant will have CCTV footage, which could exonerate her.
Knowing freedom is within reach, Dana brags about her impending triumph to her ex-boyfriend, who tried to pin his actions on her.
"Dana is impulsive," Ally says of her character.
"She loved her ex and maybe ignored some warning signs."
"She ended up losing a lot of trust in her own instincts and perhaps put too much dependence and faith in others even if they haven't earned it."
But when Cash tries to ascertain the CCTV footage from the restaurant, he's shocked to learn Madden has already collected it. How did he know?
Later, at the police station, Madden grills Harper on her sister's whereabouts. Cash struggles to keep his cool as Madden issues them a threatening warning ? he knows they're lying and things are about to get very messy.
But it only confirms the policeman's thoughts: Madden is corrupt and working with Dana's ex. Cash reels. Whatever Madden has planned, it's sure to put everyone in danger.

Cash's Hunt For A Stalker Takes A Creepy Turn
With a life on the line, Cash is deep into his investigation to stop a stalker. This week however, he realises just how far they're willing to go.
After being hired by film actress Stevie Marlow (Catherine Von-Davies) to look into death threats a stranger has been sending her, the former policeman decides to learn more about the woman he's protecting.
When he watches some of her films, including one called Death Throes, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) realises that the death threats match the plot of the film - is Stevie's stalker a copycat?
When Cash shares his thoughts with Stevie in her hotel room, she tells him her co-star in Death Throes died only months before. Before Cash can process that, a box is delivered to the door. Inside is a teddy bear - probably from a fan, Stevie muses.
The teddy looks innocent enough, but little do they know there's a tiny spy camera hidden in it and that someone is watching their every move. But who? "

SPOILER ALERT!
Yahoo.com article: Other online posts from people/fans who saw this filming (in mid-March) have mentioned that it was definitely an engagement party being filmed, and that Eden was the only woman wearing an engagement ring...
Home and Away spoiler: Leaked snap appears to reveal engagement
Will this couple make it down the aisle?
https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/home-and-away-spoiler-leaked-snap-appears-to-reveal-engagement-014304481.html
Home and Away fans are convinced that Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright) and Eden Fowler (Stephanie Panozzo) are getting engaged. A fan shared some snaps from the Palm Beach location that appears to show a number of cast members attending an event.
?I was told it was some sort of celebration,? the viewer revealed in a Facebook fan group. In addition to Cash and Eden, Mackenzie Booth (Emily Weir), Tane Parata (Ethan Browne), Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis), Remi Carter (Adam Rowland), Bree Cameron (Juliet Godwin), Rose Delaney (Kirsty Marillier), Xander Delaney (Luke Van Os) and Dana Matheson (Ally Harris) were also seen smiling on the beach.
The show films about five to six months in advance, so the rumoured engagement party will hit our screens between August and September.
Stephanie, who plays Eden, was recently seen wearing an engagement ring on social media so it looks like the pair are about to take a big step. ?I was thinking Cash and Eden get engaged. Stephanie looked like she was wearing an engagement ring in the video she posted of herself and Tristan dancing the other day,? the fan guessed.
Fans shared their excitement on social media.
?I think Cash and Eden are great together, they balance each other out,? one wrote.
?So happy Cash and Eden get engaged,? a second gushed.
?Maybe they do get married, but then they will probably get divorced,? another remarked.
Will Home and Away's Cash and Eden make it down the aisle?
It?s unlikely there will be another wedding this year, as the show already had a big-budget wedding between Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou) and Justin Morgan (James Stewart) just recently.
Summer Bay is notorious for breaking couples up and killing characters off, so the chances of a happy ending seem to be slim. In fact, another fan on set noticed Eden and Cash acting strangely during a tense scene last week.
?The second they saw each other they both just stopped and stared like they were broken up or fighting and didn?t know whether to speak to each other or not,? they said.
?I wonder what?s happening here, I think Cash and Eden broke up,? a second agreed.

Cash filmed this week back (inevitably?) in police uniform.
Yahoo.com article (see picture in the article):
Home and Away spoiler: Major update for much-loved character
After some drama in the Bay, things seem to be getting back on track for Cash Newman.
https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/home-and-away-spoiler-major-update-for-much-loved-character-231558544.html
There looks to be a major development for one beloved Home and Away character, as they were spotted filming scenes earlier this week, returning to their roots after some time off from their job and several chaotic life events.
Warning: this post contains Home and Away spoilers! Read on if you dare...
In a post uploaded to a Home and Away fan group, it was revealed Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) is back working as a Summer Bay cop. "Filming Yesterday - Monday 17/06/24. Cash is back in the police force working as a cop again," the post read, alongside photos of Cash decked out in his uniform.
Cash arrived in Summer Bay as a senior constable, and has pretty much gone through it all: having to arrest his sister, shooting someone, also being shot, saving people from cults, dealing with corrupt cops... the list goes on. In recent times, Cash was suspended pending investigation after dealing with a corrupt police force member, and then started working as actor Stevie Marlow's bodyguard before Stevie was shot by her stalker and died. RIP!
Home and Away fans react to Cash's new storyline
Now it looks Cash has managed to put his past traumas behind him and don the uniform again, and fans are pretty happy to see him back in the force. After all, Summer Bay does seem to attract a lot of crime.
"Cash only has one stripe on his new uniform?. Before he wore two. I wonder if Rose will be his boss?" one fan speculated. "Rose too busy swigging coffee all day to even notice," one person joked back.
"And Eden still unemployed lol!!!" another person joked, with many fans often making fun of Cash's girlfriend Eden who never seems to be working. "He didn?t want to go back in the police force, but who else is going to pay for all of Eden?s freebies," another said.
Others were thirsty at the thought of the hot cop back in uniform. "Cash looks so fine in a uniform," one person commented, "Hell, he could arrest me lol even if his playing a character lol," with another agreeing, "He sure does!"
"About time we see Cash in uniform, he?s best suited to that role," someone else said. "Oh la la... Cash is back in uniform... yeeessss.. love it.." another thirsty fan said.
The scenes with Cash back in the cop shop are only being shot now, so it may be another few months before we see him grace our screens as a police officer again.

Nowtolove.com.au article/interview with Nicholas Cartwright:
Home and Away's Nicholas Cartwright: "This role is a gift"
Why he relishes the challenge of playing the cop Cash.
https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/nicholas-cartwright-home-and-away-role-a-gift/
As the local law enforcement in Summer Bay, Cash Newman in all the action - literally. From catching crims and epic showdowns to his own personal anguish, the intensity never lets up.
But unlike some actors who may need a breather every now and then, Nicholas Cartwright - who is in his fourth year playing the character on Home and Away - is begging for more.
"Cash takes hit after hit," he tells TV WEEK with a laugh. "It?\'s been a fantastic arc. I quite enjoy playing out a variety of different issues as Cash."
Thankfully, he says, the emotionally charged role has gotten easier over time.
"I don't find him too difficult to play, really," he says. "There are definite challenges, but I've put a lot of work into creating Cash over the years. I leave it all out in the studio."
Work, and commitment to the job, is a common link he shares with his alter-ego.
"I love to work, I enjoy it," he says. "You know, acting is a bit of a luxury in a way and I'm incredibly grateful to have this gig. I haven't lost that over the past four years. But Cash isn't all me [laughs]."
Along the way, Nicholas, 33, has enjoyed some crossover with his personal life too. Not only did his good friend and NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) peer Ethan Browne go on to star alongside him on H&A ("We've experienced the weirdest stuff together [at NIDA]!"), but in 2023, his sister Zara appeared in a few episodes.
"Mum was so proud," he says happily. "For most of the cast, our mums are hooked on the show [laughs], so when Zoe and I were both on it, she was thrilled."
In 2024, his character even more drama after leaving the police force and losing his sister Felicity (Jacqui Purvis). Now, he's being accused of a brutal attack.
"I worry sometimes the audience is going to get exhausted of them continuing to flog the one character!" He says jokingly.
Saying goodbye to his on-screen sister was particularly difficult for Nicholas who describes it as "crazily sad". The close friends both joined the show in 2020.
"Those scripts hit you so hard," he explains of Flick's final scene. "We [the cast] get told that someone is leaving and when but it's not until you get the script that you see the detail of it all. It was a beautifully written scene."
With new cast arrivals on set each year, Nicholas is now considered a senior cast member ("the time has flown," he says bewildered). But every day still provides plenty of lessons thanks to the series' legacy stars such as Ray Meagher and Lynne McGranger.
"Sometimes I'll be in a scene with the likes of Ray, Lynne Emily [Symons], Shane [Withington] and Ada [Nicodemou], and you'll look around to see this wonderful team of talented people," he says. "You have to jump into their kitchen and try to cook with them."
While H&A is the focus for now, Nicholas doesn't rule out other acting opportunities in the future.
"I used to write a lot before this gig, so I'd love to explore that one day. But for now, I'm very happy where I am."

Home and Away airs character return in Cash Newman story
Cash needs support from his family.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a63529137/home-and-away-spoilers-gary-morrow-cash-newman/
Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian pace episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has aired another return for Cash Newman's foster father on Australian screens this week.
Peter Phelps has once again reprised his role as Gary Morrow, who headed back to Summer Bay after a surprising phone call from John Palmer.
Recent Australian episodes have seen Cash in crisis as he's under suspicion over a brutal attack against his love rival ? counsellor Tim Russell.
Tim was targeted in the season finale episode late last year. As Cash was found at the scene of the crime with blood on his hands, he immediately became the prime suspect in the case.
There have been few other clues to rely on, as Tim remains in a coma so hasn't been able to name his attacker.
Cash has since experienced a flashback of Tim's obsessive former client Nerida Mullins committing the attack, but lead detective Mark Townsend still doubts his innocence and the situation seems hopeless.
In this week's Australian episodes, Cash's neighbour John Palmer grew concerned over his ongoing troubles.
John ultimately made a call to Gary, warning him that his son needed support from his family.
True to form, reliable Gary made his way to the Bay as quickly as possible and rebuked Cash for not reaching out for help sooner. He also accused Cash of not fighting for himself, as the police officer seems to have given up on exposing Nerida's schemes.
Cash didn't appreciate his arrival ? or John's meddling ? and stubbornly tried to keep Gary at arm's length. Can anyone get through to Cash before he's jailed for a crime he didn't commit?
Gary was introduced to Home and Away as a guest in 2022. He also returned for a brief stint last year after Cash's sister Felicity tragically passed away.

Home and Away confirms the show's next wedding storyline
Are another couple heading down the aisle?
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a64378382/home-and-away-spoilers-cash-eden-wedding-update/
Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian pace episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away's Cash Newman and Eden Fowler could finally tie the knot this year.
The on-off couple may be heading for a happy ending at last, as Eden looks forward to a long-term future with Cash.
Eden recently took a leap of faith by reuniting with Cash, who'd called off their original engagement last year following the tragic death of his sister Felicity.
At the time, a grieving Cash told Eden that he was trying to protect her as everyone close to him seems to die.
Their reunion hasn't been plain sailing, however. Australian viewers have already seen Eden warn Cash that they needed to take things slowly while they rebuild their trust. Those scenes will air on UK screens next week.
This week's Australian episodes have seen Eden's stance start to change. After a stable few weeks in the relationship and no further red flags from Cash, she told her brother Levi that she was ready to get engaged again.
During a heart-to-heart at Mac and Levi's home, Eden told her sibling: "I've been thinking about putting the whole marriage thing back on the table."
Asked what was holding her back, she quipped: "Mind-numbing terror! I'm just worried that Cash is going to hurt me again."
Follow-up scenes in Thursday's Australian episode (April 3) saw Eden confide in her close friend Kirby Aramoana next.
Eden confirmed that she was still looking for the right moment to discuss the engagement with Cash, but was holding back as he'd been so busy with his best man duties for Tane Parata and Harper Matheson's ill-fated wedding day.
With Eden still hesitant, how long will it take for her to tell Cash exactly what she wants from their future?
Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 in late May.
