There were pictures of her filming at Palm Beach in January, walking along the beach talking to Dr Green (Ditch Davey) whilst wearing a medical halo brace supporting her head. It appears her introduction to the show will be her being caught up in the explosion of Ryder & Chloe's Mexican Food Truck.

At 27, Home and Away?s newest cast member is already a veteran of the business, having cut her teeth from the age of 11 on kids shows like The Saddle Club.


Marny Kennedy never considered any other career path than acting.

At 27, Home and Away?s newest cast member could be considered a veteran of the business, having cut her teeth from the age of 11 on kids shows like Mortified and The Saddle Club.

?It is a tough industry but I have grown up on set not knowing anything else,? Kennedy told The Daily Telegraph. ?I enjoyed school and could have gone on to do a, b or c. Anyone in their right mind would probably try and do anything else but when you love it and it is such a part of who you are, you can?t do anything else.?

By tough, Kennedy is referring to the instability that comes with life as a working actor not knowing when the next job will land.

?At the same time, the idea of a nine to five job, I can?t comprehend that,? she said. ?I don?t know that world. As much as the instability is the hardest part, it is all I know.?

She grew up in the suburbs of Melbourne with her mother running a dance school.

Kennedy played the lead role of Taylor Fry in Mortified, which originally ran for 26 episodes over two seasons in 2006 and 2007 and continues to screen around the world.

As an adult, she has appeared on shows including Wentworth, Underbelly, Top of the Lake, and Janet King.

Surprisingly, Home and Away is her first soap job with her character Rachel to debut later this month.

?The time that you are on set is the reward for all of the hard work that goes in to auditions and self taping and rejection and all of that stuff,? she said, adding of her character: ?Rachel lands in Home and Away in quite a different way. It is not your normal entry into Summer Bay, it is a bit of a crash land.?

Spoiler Alert!

Well, the speculation that new character, Rachel will be introduced by being caught up in the Food Truck explosion is incorrect. A new promo shows that she will actually be in a skydiving accident (and that is why she is wearing the neck/head support halo in pictures of filming with Dr Christian earlier this year).

Home and Away spoilers follow from recent Australian episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

One of Home and Away's newest recruits has already bid farewell to Summer Bay, with recent scenes airing in Australia revealing the sudden death of Rachel Young.

Rachel, played by Marny Kennedy, was killed off in yesterday's (June 24) Australian episode, just moments after she'd been released from hospital after weeks of treatment from Christian Green.

After overcoming her dramatic skydiving accident, Rachel was tragically killed after being run over by a hit-and-run driver in a freak accident. Despite Christian's best efforts, she failed to respond to CPR and sadly died.

Opening up about shooting her final scenes, Marny told Home and Away fans that she'd had "an amazing day" filming the stunt alongside her stunt double Mel Eckert.

In an Instagram video shared by Home and Away, the actress revealed: "The last segment for Rachel's journey, we had a big stunt day out on location. I had an amazing stunt double, Mel Eckert, and she was incredible.

"Dean Gould, who's one of the stunt coordinators, I worked with when I was about 14 years old. We worked on a few jobs together, so it was actually amazing. He sort of rocks up and goes, 'Right, we're hitting you with a car today?' I went, 'Hey Dean, good to see you too.'"

Despite her short stint in Summer Bay, Marny seemed happy with her character's exit. "It was an amazing day, you know," she added.

"I love any opportunity to do stuff like that, stunt days and that sort of thing, but it's great when you see old mates from around the traps as well."

Fans will have to wait and see how Rachel's accident affects Christian, who came to terms with surviving Lewis' murder attempt by believing he was meant to save Rachel at the airfield.

Unable to save Rachel a second time, the question remains, will Christian be okay?
