Coronation Street has cast former Hollyoaks and EastEnders star Glen Wallace as Carla's friend Lucas.

In new scenes set to air next Friday (January 26), Carla will be left surprised that her new client at the factory is Lucas, whom she met while living in Devon.

She grabs lunch with him after yet another rejection from Peter, and is impressed when Lucas reveals that he has booked a hotel for the weekend and wants her to join him.

Roy Cropper will then step in to give Peter some hard truths, warning that it could be too late if he doesn't make peace with Carla now.

He then begs Carla to stay as she departs for the weekend ? but will she give him a second chance?

Glen has had numerous soap roles over the years, including a stint as DS Cameron Bryant on EastEnders between 2014 and 2016 and Malachy Fisher on Hollyoaks between 2007 and 2010.

He previously appeared in different roles on Holby City, and starred in River City between 2016 and 2017 as Greig Roth. He has also appeared in Casualty, and stars in ITV's Marcella in the role of Matthew Gaskill.

Coronation Street newcomer Glen Wallace has offered fans an insight to his character Lucas ? a business associate of Carla Connor.

Kicking back with Sunday World ahead of his Weatherfield debut, the Northern Irishman (who also starred in Hollyoaks as Malachy Fisher and EastEnders as DS Cameron Bryant) shared his excitement over joining such an illustrious show.

"To get it at the end of a challenging year... I was over the moon," Wallace noted.

"Getting a job on Corrie at any time would be amazing but during a pandemic it was brilliant. It's almost like you're part of a family.

"I've been shooting for six weeks now and the episodes should be on screen at the end of this month. There is a bit of a back story between my character and Carla so if you know her storylines it will be interesting."

It was previously revealed that Lucas will make his grand entrance in Friday, January 26's episode, when Carla gets a surprise as he turns up at the factory as her new client.

Having met each other while living in Devon, Carla grabs some grub with Lucas after yet another rejection from Peter Barlow, and is left pretty struck by him when he invites her to a hotel for the weekend.
