Leanne and Steve are gutted to see that Wendy has taken Dr Howarth's side. Tracy arrives at the family court for Oliver's hearing, but Leanne makes it clear that neither she nor Nick is welcome. Steve suggests she leaves them to it and Tracy is stung.
Dr Howarth tells the court that in her view, it would be an act of kindness and compassion to switch off Oliver's life support. After a gruelling day in court, Leanne knocks back a bottle of wine and suggests Steve take her to bed.
Meanwhile, Billy tells Eileen and Nina that he's expecting the bishop round to tell him whether he's landed the position of archdeacon. Paul is furious to discover that Todd has a job at the factory, so in a bid to bolster team spirit, Sarah insists on taking the factory staff out for a curry.
Elsewhere, in the cafe, Adam attempts to flirt with Alina but she gives him short shrift.
Also, determined to find a new career, Sean tells Michael he's attending a sales seminar in Manchester and wonders if he'd like to come along too. Sean and Michael return on a high and explain to Eileen that they've secured the selling rights to a brand new range of beauty products.

Leanne comes to her senses and apologises for making a pass at Steve. When Steve returns home, Tracy smells a rat.
Tracy quizzes Steve and when Steve reveals that Leanne came onto him but she was drunk, Tracy's shocked. Tracy confronts Leanne in the hospital and Leanne breaks down.
Meanwhile, Sarah, Kirk, Todd, Alina and Paul meet in Speed Daal for a team-building evening. Kirk produces a quiz that he has written and instructs the factory gang to get into teams.
Sarah is less impressed when Adam tries to chat up Alina, while Paul knocks back the wine, with his dislike for Todd growing by the second. With the team-building evening over, Adam wonders if Alina would like to go out sometime.
Elsewhere, the bishop offers Billy the position of archdeacon. Drunken Paul arrives at Billy's flat, cracking lewd jokes and offers the bishop a beer. The bishop can't escape fast enough.
Also, Sean persuades George to let him try out the new range of beauty products on him.

It's Steve and Leanne's turn in court. Leanne gives evidence and tells the court how Oliver reacts to certain stimuli.
When the Trust barrister suggests Oliver's reactions are involuntary, Leanne is forced to admit that it's possible. Leanne tells the court all she wants is to save her son.
Meanwhile, Peter and Carla arrive back from their sailing holiday and quiz Johnny about the robbery and his old mate Scott. Johnny masks his discomfort.
The factory girls gossip about Adam's designs on Alina. Sarah catches Adam chatting up Alina outside the factory and launches a tirade of abuse at him. As Carla approaches with a new client, they find Sarah screeching at Adam.
Elsewhere, as a hungover Paul searches the jobs pages, Billy implores him not to let Todd get to him. Having taken a call from the bishop, a relieved Billy tells Paul that despite his drunken antics, the archdeacon job is still his. Paul's pleased for him and asserts that he's going back to work and is determined not to let Todd get under his skin.

Nick arrives at Oliver's bedside. Toyah reminds him that Leanne has banned him from visiting, but seeing how upset he is, relents and allows him to stay.
Steve urges the judge to give Oliver more time as one day they might find a cure. With the hearing over, an emotionally drained Steve and Leanne head out. Leanne arrives at the hospital and is furious to find Nick there.
Meanwhile, Carla warns Alina to steer clear of Adam as he's only using her to get at Sarah. When Adam suggests dinner, will Alina accept?
Elsewhere, a reporter from the Gazette approaches Emma and Amy hoping for a scoop on Oliver's story, Fiz wades in and sends him packing.

Hour-long episode
Knowing that today's the day that the judge will announce her decision regarding Oliver, Tracy, Amy, Emma and Simon gather at Number 1 and nervously await the news.
Steve and Leanne sit in silence as the judge delivers her statement regarding Oliver's situation. She concludes that it is in Oliver's best interests that his life support be withdrawn.
In the hospital, Toyah receives a call from an anguished Leanne and Sarah fights back her tears. Leanne announces that she wants to launch an appeal. Steve reluctantly agrees but it's clear he's not convinced.
Natasha approaches Nick outside his flat and invites herself in for a cup of tea.
Steve and Leanne return to the hospital and head straight to Oliver's room. Steve finally tells Leanne that they have to let Oliver go and he can't back her in her decision to appeal.
