Billie Piper and new Doctor Who star David Tennant look to be getting on famously after their first day of filming together.
Miss Piper smiled broadly as she and the Casanova star left the BBC's Cardiff studios and headed off to a restaurant following Tennant's first full shoot as the tenth Time Lord in the hit show.
They were joined by Stephen Fry, who is writing part of the forthcoming series, and Miss Piper's boyfriend, law student Amadu Sowe.
Tennant replaces Christopher Eccleston, who played the Doctor in the first series of the relaunched show.
Viewers glimpsed Tennant at the end of the last episode as the Doctor regenerated after defeating the Daleks.
He will make his first full appearance in a special episode at Christmas before a new 13-part series starts next spring.
The 34-year-old Scottish actor was full of praise for Miss Piper, 22, who plays the Doctor's sidekick Rose Tyler. "I didn't know her before, but I've been admiring her in the show," he said.
"She's just great, fantastic. Just absolutely perfect. Spunky and quick and sexy, just the ideal companion really. So I'm very pleased she's doing the whole series."
He said Eccleston would be a tough act to follow. "Chris was so good in it, so sure-footed with what he did," he told Doctor Who Magazine. "So it left me thinking. "There's an awful lot to live up too here".
"I just hope people like it. I hope they stick with it and give it a chance. I know everyone loved Chris, and so did I, but hopefully I won't disappoint people."
Tennant is a lont-time fan of the show, which first ran from 1963 to 1989 and has drawn audiences of around 7 million in its revived format.
Recalling his reaction at being cast, he said: "It was funny, I just laughed. I found it hilarious and impossible."
