Episode 3.01: The Aftermath

07/24 - When THE O.C. returns for its third season premiere, Ryan, Marissa, Seth and Summer are about to begin their senior year at Harbor High. But while everyone else celebrates the last days of summer, a dark cloud hangs over the foursome. Trey, Ryan's brother, still clings to life two months after the shooting and the cops want to know who really shot him. Will Ryan take the fall for Marissa? Meanwhile, Julie Cooper and Marissa's father, Jimmy, are determined to protect Marissa at whatever cost. And while Sandy, Seth and Ryan try to fend for themselves at home, Kirsten, still recovering in her plush rehab by the sea, forms a friendship with fellow recovering alcoholic Charlotte (Jeri Ryan), who – like all things in the O.C. – may not be everything she appears to be. 07/04 - The summer is soon over and school is starting in a few days. Trey has been in a coma since Marissa shot him. The D.A. has waited as long as possible for Trey to wake up but people are starting to demand answers and justice, which is why D.D.A. Chris Caldwell was asked to dig around and take more depositions from Ryan, Seth and Marissa amongst others. Will either Marissa or Ryan pay the price? Or will both be prosecuted? 07/14 - Jimmy meets a man named Don at the Yatch Club's bar. He and Don talk about Jimmy's money problems. Julie and Sandy have a meeting with the Dean and Dr. Kim. Later, Ryan and Marissa have a meeting with the Dean to talk about their future (or lack of) at Harbor. Sandy drives to the house of Charlotte, one of the ladies who was in rehab with Kirsten. Casey, a relaxed and confident girl, helps Marissa get out of the latter situation. Outside the school, Marissa meets with Casey, her boyfriend Brett (a 17-year-old Brad Pitt type guy), and another teen nicknamed Spaz.
