What do you get when you cross an Aussie, an Italian and a Colombian? A failed Home and Away audition tape.

Annabelle Stephenson took a year off acting last year and decamped to the historic Italian city of Bologna to learn the language and take a break.

While there, she decided to test the waters back home and record an audition tape for the long-running Australian soap and hastily grabbed some friends to stand in for the scene she was filming.

"I had a Colombian reading for my son and my Italian teacher as my lover,? she laughed.

"I think the lack of English speaking in my tape didn't go in my favour.?

Stephenson, who was a regular on hit US drama Revenge and most recently appeared on Netflix's first Australian series Tidelands, didn't get the job that time around, but after returning to Australia she was more successful.

She will join the show next month as Taylor Rosetta, the wife of Detective Angelo Rosetto, played by Luke Jacobz, who is also new to Summer Bay.

After working in television in both Hollywood and Australia, Stephenson said it was far more relaxed back home.

"It?s the Aussie spirit, it's so welcoming,? she said. "(In America) there is a powerhouse production company and there's quite a hierarchy behind it. You just come in, do your job and leave."

For a man on the brink of losing his career and freedom, manipulating those around him might seem a risky move. Yet Colby will do whatever it takes to keep himself and his sister out of jail.

This week, the policeman finds a way to keep on top of the murder investigation when he meets detective Angelo's (Luke Jacobz) wife.

On the beach, Colby (Tim Franklin) is questioned, once again, by Angelo, who has given his sister Bella (Courtney Miller) a deadline: if she doesn't complete her police interview in the next 72 hours, he'll issue a warrant for her arrest.

In recent episodes, the teen fled Summer Bay with boyfriend Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo). She was worried she would botch her interview and put Colby at risk ? who, as viewers are aware, is guilty of shooting dead his abusive stepfather Ross (Justin Wozniak).

"Bella is in constant doubt of her ability to lie and get away with it," Tim, 29, tells TV WEEK. "She thinks leaving is the best option, but it only spikes Angelo's interest in her involvement in the case. Colby's concern is to keep Angelo busy until Bella surfaces."

But in the rugged Australian landscape, the couple are lost and panicking. Hot on their trail is Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams), Tane (Ethan Browne) and Mackenzie (Emily Weir), who are desperate for their safe return.

Running out of time and daylight, Nikau convinces Bella to find help. He leaves her momentarily and flags down the nearest car ? which just so happens to be Ari, Tane and Mac. Giving in to their demands to get in, he takes them to Bella ? who has packed up and fled.

Where has she gone?

Back in Summer Bay, Colby learns of his sister's latest escape.

As he thinks what to do next, an attractive woman walks into the Diner and says she's looking for Angelo. She's his wife, Taylor (Annabelle Stephenson).

Suddenly, Colby has a new plan. Striding up to Taylor, Colby uses all his charm to introduce himself as a colleague. Then, he pries into her life.

"Taylor is a massage physiotherapist and has followed Angelo to Summer Bay in the hope of setting up a new, quiet life where they can concentrate on their marriage and start fresh," Annabelle, 32, explains.

The cop's mind ticks over as he contemplates what to do next. Be careful, Colby!

"Angelo is very dedicated to his job and Taylor is trying hard to keep the work/life/love balance between them," Annabelle tells TV WEEK. "With Angelo so consumed by the case, Taylor finds herself spending a lot of time alone. It's strained."

Feeling abandoned and humiliated, Taylor storms out. She sits down with her only friend in town, Colby, who is more than happy to be a shoulder to lean on.

Taylor offers Colby a free massage as a thank you for introducing her to Willow (Sarah Roberts) ? the gym connection opens up several opportunities for her massage-therapy business.

Colby happily accepts. Moments later, Taylor begins the massage.

But the muscle tension isn't the only thing in the room.

The policeman uses all his charm to extract information about the case from Taylor ? and on her part, she seems to enjoy the attention.

"Colby and her meet at the police station and from there they strike up a friendship," Annabelle explains.

"Taylor has no idea what's happening or why Colby is getting so close to her. She sees a kind man lending an ear and they enjoy spending time together. Little does she know."

After the massage, Taylor vents her frustrations about Angelo. The couple laugh as they exchange stories about their past, their chemistry growing stronger with every moment.

Then, without thinking, they draw close and share a steamy kiss. Uh-oh!

We need to start a petition to keep Taylor on the show longer. Something like an Alf Stewart contract and maybe run the bait shop and caravan park for the next 30 yrs? She looks very good at her job and needs more screen time.

Home and Away will see two characters leaving Summer Bay next week, following the conclusion of Colby Thorne's trial.

In scenes airing in Australia this week and in the UK in early 2021, Angelo (Luke Jacobz) and Taylor Rosetta (Annabelle Stephenson) drive off together after reconciling (via TV Week).

The pair's marriage has been plagued with problems for a while, but with Colby (Tim Franklin) convicted of murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison, they now have the opportunity to discuss their future.

After Angelo offers Taylor the location of where Colby is locked up so she can find closure, Taylor visits Ross Nixon's killer.

It's clear that Colby has been targeted by his fellow inmates, but when Taylor asks to help him, Colby tells her that she should be with Angelo.

Following the visit to Colby, Taylor has a heart-to-heart conversation with Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost), which ends with Taylor getting much-needed clarity about herself and what she wants to do next.

Taylor and Angelo reconcile, and after saying their goodbyes to Alf and Roo Stewart, they depart from Summer Bay together.

Last week saw Willow Harris flee after she was unveiled as Witness X and testified against Colby. However, star Sarah Roberts has been pictured filming on location, so her exit appears to be temporary.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
