Home and Away has always been known for its unexpected twists and turns as characters come, go and cause a whole lot of drama in-between.

And the latest newcomer is no different - in fact, in scenes this week, we get our first look at The Bay's newest local, and our favourite characters best prepare themselves for her.

So how does the fresh-faced Amber make her entrance? TV WEEK found out...

With his marriage on the rocks and his health fragile, John is being irascible and difficult.

John (Shane Withington) has managed to drive away every candidate to provide the home-care he requires after suffering a stroke.

It leaves his wife Marilyn (Emily Symons) at her wits' end – that is, until Amber (Madeline Jevic) arrives.

She's bold, witty and won't take no for an answer. Marilyn hires her on the spot.

John, however, won't be ignored and corners her into an argument that causes Amber to storm out.

At Salt, Amber cools off and starts to explore Summer Bay.

Walking nearby is Dean (Patrick O'Connor), who instantly recognises her.

But before he has a chance to hide, Amber dashes over to say hello. It's clear they have history.

Later, Dean rushes to find Colby. But Amber comes across him first – and is far from happy to see him.

How do they know each other? And what has caused her to be so angry?

All of the speculation is suggesting that she is Dean?s ex & the kid will be Dean?s (& the kid will be named Jai, after Amber?s brother who died in the car crash which led to Dean going to prison). We will soon see if the speculation is correct.

Yes, you would imagine that Willow will also know her.

Becoming a father to Jai has changed Dean's entire world. Not only is he learning the joys of fatherhood, but his bond with Amber is stronger than ever.

Unfortunately, his girlfriend Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) is struggling to accept his new life.

With Dean's relationship on the brink, Amber (Maddy Jevic) boldly seizes the opportunity to tell him how she really feels. During a family outing on the beach, she expresses her love for Dean and asks him to give her a chance. They can raise Jai (River Jarvis) as a family.

"They share a child together and that's a bond like no other," Maddy tells TV WEEK. "Dean was her childhood love and she would love to rekindle a connection between them."

Knowing he might risk losing Ziggy for good, Dean rejects Amber's advances and makes it clear that they will co-parent Jai, but nothing further will happen between them.

Meanwhile, Ziggy is walking nearby and spots the trio hanging out together.

Home and Away reveals first look at Jai's return to Summer Bay

Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away has confirmed that Jai Simmons is returning to Summer Bay in a preview posted to their Instagram page. River Jarvis will reprise his role in the upcoming episodes.

Jai left a few weeks ago along with his mother Amber Simmons when she couldn't cope with Dean Thompson anymore.

Dean (Patrick O'Connor) recently tried to kidnap his son Jai and Amber (Madeleine Jevic) felt that the best thing for their son was to get him away from Summer Bay. She was also tired of the constant bickering between Dean and her mother Francesca as it was impacting on Jai's wellbeing.

Amber is set to return under instruction from Willow Harris (Sarah Roberts) who wants to try and help Dean get his life back on track.

When Amber returns she leaves Dean baffled when she tells him that she doesn't want to keep him away from Jai anymore.

Dean has a lot of making up to do and needs to prove to Amber that he can be trusted, when he convinces Amber that he's okay now, Amber confirms that she'll arrange for Dean to have regular access to his son Jai.

The return of Amber and Jai has come at the right time for Dean - as they will hold him accountable to stay on track for good.

Dean has had trouble over recent months as his friend Colby Thorne was given a hefty prison sentence and his ex-girlfriend Ziggy Astoni has settled down with Tane Parata.

Home and Away fans in the UK will see Amber and Jai's return on Channel 5 in March.
