Dennis use to smoke but quit just after Den arrived I remeber cos after Dennis ran away in a sulk because Den was being nice to Sharon and Vicki and ignoring him he tipped his fags and lighter in the bin then Dot turned up and talked him into going back home
It was later mentioned again after Den had set Phil up and Kate had arrived at the club with the list in Phil's writing that she decided to burn and Dennis said he wished he hadn't quit smoking but he still found a lighter

I read in SoapLife that Shane Richie had stopped so they had to make his character smoke herbal cigarettes or something, I've only ever seen Alfie smoke once and that was at someone's stag do, can't remember whose...
