Britney Spears will give birth in September, a month earlier than originally expected.

The singer's younger sister Jamie-Lynn confirms the news in a posting on Britney's official website, but refuses to reveal the sex of the baby, or whether Spears is carrying twins.

"I get to spend a lot of time with Britney," explained Jamie-Lynn, who has moved to Los Angeles to be close to the star when the baby arrives.

"We are getting ready for the new baby's arrival in September. I can't wait. I have been shopping so much for the baby and it is not even here yet."
