Derek told Big Brother that following Science's eviction, he's now looking forward to some peace and quiet as well as a greater spirit of co-operation in the House.
The whimsical Tory had nominated both Science and Orlaith and stated that the House would benefit from one or both of them departing. However, he felt that Science had offended or cursed everyone.
"I only have the right to put up, the public have the right to put out," he said to Big Brother in the Diary Room. "But if I were a member of the voting public I'd see that Science had been given so many chances by every Housemate, yet there's not one who he didn't grossly offend and offensively curse."
There's one aspect of a House without Science that Derek is particularly pleased about. "Gosh, I'm looking forward to not having to put up with that bloody rapping," he said with undisguised glee. "It was mostly mumbo jumbo and what I could understand was about bitches or violence or just very repetitive."
Kids and their music today eh Derek? But more significantly, he felt that the House would become more harmonious and able to focus on the tasks at hand.
"It will be more agreeable dealing with people you can reason with," Derek said. "He had no capacity for reasoning and didn't understand give and take. We won't have those problems now...there's going to be a spirit of co-operation instead of destruction."
A bold claim indeed, but let's not forget Derek also nominated Orlaith and he's not overly enamoured with the Irish model. He said the one thing he'll remember most about the evening was Orlaith's reaction to Science's name being called out.
"She said, very insensitively, that she had a 100 percent certainty that she was going to stay. I thought it was tacky...how did she know this? She must have an open line to the divine," he mused.
"She has a weakness and a taste for backstabbing and is not courageous enough to face people head on," Derek claimed. "I don't think that is to be admired."
It may be more peaceful, but it's also clear that Orlaith had better watch out...
