Emmerdale is lining up a major shock for Jacob Gallagher as Leyla Harding makes a move on Liam Cavanagh.

Chemistry has been growing between Leyla and Liam over the festive period after they starred in the village panto alongside each other and shared a kissing scene that was written into the play.

Liam has also been helping Leyla, David and Jacob after Maya left a baby on the doorstep on Christmas Day – with fear that it could be Jacob's.

In the New Year, Jacob is shocked to discover that Leyla has taken things further by kissing Liam for real, and he confronts her at The Woolpack over her actions.

It's already been a difficult Christmas for Jacob after Maya's baby surprise – but how will he react when he finds out about Leyla making a move on Liam? Could it affect his own friendship with Liam's daughter Leanna?

Elsewhere, Diane arrives back with news from Bernice for Liam. Is he about to learn that she's not coming back?

Elsewhere, Harriet is in silent turmoil as PC Swirling questions her and Will on the church burglary. Does she really suspect Will of being involved?

Also today, Jacob is hurt when he finds out about Leyla kissing Liam.
