EastEnders is set to air a spectacular flashback episode which will rewind back to the events of Christmas Day and answer some serious questions about what really happened – is Keanu Taylor dead or alive? How did Linda Carter spend Christmas Day? And who helped the Slaters out in their hour of need? The episode will air on New Year’s Day, and will take viewers back in time to the events of Christmas Day, as we discover exactly how the Mitchell clan got their revenge — which could suggest that we could well see Martin Fowler’s final showdown with Keanu. Additionally, we’ll also discover Linda’s whereabouts on the day in question, as her excessive drinking led her into an extremely dangerous situation. We will also see other things play out that we didn’t see that will lead to some unexpected twists and change the course of the story entirely.

It's New Year's Eve in Walford and Karen decides to throw a party. Ruby has also arranged an '80s extravaganza at the club. Attending Karen's celebration, Honey is not in the mood for partying and when Billy tries to check that she's okay, she leans in to kiss him.

At the club, Max is struggling with Ruby's approach to their relationship. He tries to make her jealous by pretending he has been invited to another party by a woman.

Meanwhile, Mitch notices the tension between Chantelle and Gray as they head off on their 'honeymoon'.

Elsewhere, Mick feels helpless when Linda continues to lie about the events of Christmas Day. Later, Linda heads to Karen's party.

Also today, Karen is still worried about the events of Christmas, while Louise is struggling to cope with her own conscience.

Linda is given a wake-up call when Mick mentions what happened at New Year. She promises to be sober throughout January, but can she manage it?

Meanwhile, Karen is still struggling to get the answers she needs after recent events.

Elsewhere, Martin worries when Sonia tells him that he has been talking in his sleep.

Also today, Honey reveals that Adam has been in touch about new tenants – the Panesar brothers. The news shocks Ash, but Vinny insists that the brothers just want to be part of her life. Ash ends up ordering her brothers to leave and storms off.

Finally, Jean's sudden good mood confuses Kat and Mo.
