EXCLUSIVE: TV Tonight hears whispers actress Stephanie McIntosh is headed back to Neighbours for a guest appearance.

According to her Instagram McIntosh has recently been spending time in Melbourne.

Her return to Ramsay Street is the latest blast from the past from producer Jason Herbison.

McIntosh played Sky Mangel on the series from 2003- 2007. She also appeared in the 30th anniversary celebrations in 2015.

An appearance in Erinsborough should also see her perform alongside Jemma Donovan, daughter of her half-brother, Jason Donovan.

It's been more than 12 years since Sky Mangel was seen in Erinsborough, but Stephanie McIntosh looks set to reprise her role with a guest spot on Neighbours.

Stephanie made on brief cameo on the soap in 2015, appearing "via a Skype call" to chat to Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) during the show's 30th anniversary celebrations.

Per TV Tonight, the actress is due to return to our screens once again. The publication claims Stephanie has been in Melbourne recently, to return to the Neighbours studios.

The Australian actress, who resides in LA in the United States, has been spotted around Melbourne in recent days. The star has been sharing snaps on her Instagram, showing her down under.

Of course fans will remember that after a tumultuous few years in Erinsborough, Sky left to be closer to Dylan Timmins (Damien Bodie), the father of her daughter, Kerry.

Her friend and former boyfriend Boyd Hoyland (Kyal Marsh) chose to go with her, as the pair had begun to grow closer again as friends.

"I think Boyd does have a lot of regret that things didn't work out on a romantic level between him and Sky," Stephanie told TV WEEK at the time of their departure from the series. "But in the end, there's a mutual understanding between them - and they'll always have that bond."

Together, Boyd, Sky and Kerry moved away to Port Douglas.

Fifteen years after they shared the first same-sex kiss on TV soap Neighbours, the actors who played onscreen couple Sky and Lana have returned to Ramsey St.

Fifteen years after sharing the first gay kiss on TV soap Neighbours, Stephanie McIntosh and Bridget Neval will return to Ramsay Street.

The actors, who played onscreen couple Sky and Lana, this week shot scenes for 35th anniversary episodes to air next year.

Details of the storyline are being kept a closely guarded secret until the episodes air.

“It definitely felt like we were stepping into new territory as an actor,” said McIntosh, half sister of another famous Neighbours alumn, Jason Donovan.

“It was the first same sex relationship and kiss on Neighbours and I believe even on Aussie TV. I am so thrilled to be back. It is a mixed cocktail of feelings. I feel so elated and so grateful … it feels so nostalgic.”

McIntosh, who was on the show from 2003 to 2007, is one of many former Neighbours stars set to return to the soap in 2020.

Others include Melissa Bell, Olympia Valance, Annie Jones, Scott McGregor, Damien Bodie, Paul Keane and Andrew Morley.

For McIntosh and Neval, the significance of playing the first lesbian characters on the show is still felt today.

“Lana and Sky as characters, as people and friends, they had such a lot going on,” Neval said. “There were so many layers to their relationship and there was a point where 2004 Neighbours had to stop and didn’t progress their relationship that maybe these days they could.

“So I think it is really interesting to bring them back and maybe see what her relationship to Sky will be like now.”

I'm sure some viewers won't know who she is but doing it this way is better than a random character just saying 'oh, aren't you Sky?! Actor Stephanie McIntosh was overjoyed to star opposite her real-life niece Jemma Donovan in Neighbours recently.

The pair play Sky Mangel and Harlow Robinson on the Australian soap, and during an episode that's yet to air in the UK, they come across each other for the first time ever on screen.

Sharing the moment in an Instagram post yesterday (April 16), Stephanie described it as being a "good day at the office", while also admitting that she felt the need for extra focus in front of her young relative.

She captioned the video showing them on screen together: "When you're in a scene with your real life beautiful niece @jemma_donovan but got to keep it together between takes because you're a serious detective on the case and she's in the middle of your crime scene!

"Wish we had more scenes together Jems, but this was one for the books!! Trying not to giggle with each other and remain serious while learning to hold a real gun, was a good day at the office."

She added: "Directed by the very talented and awesome @katekendall9 #tbt."

The scene their characters face each other in concerns Harlow's buddy Mackenzie, who's been secretly living alone and ends up with bad guy Mannix as her housemate.

Police storm the place while Harlow is visiting.

Neighbours is officially bringing back Sky Mangel.

Today, the soap's Instagram confirmed that Stephanie McIntosh will be returning to the role "in the coming weeks". Sky's visit follows her grandfather Harold Bishop's move back to Erinsborough.

"Sky Mangel returns to Ramsay Street!" read the post.

"Hot on the heels of Harold... Sky will be dropping by to visit her dear old grandad. But what else has brought her back to Erinsborough? Stephanie McIntosh will be reprising her much loved role in the coming weeks."

Sky was last seen on Ramsay Street in 2020, marrying Lana Crawford and then investigating Finn Kelly's death.

In the Australian edit of the 2022 finale, she also appeared in the video montage of past characters congratulating Toadie and Melanie on their wedding.

Harold makes his way back to Erinsborough on a permanent basis next week, living at the Eirini Rising retirement complex.

"I'm back for one day a week and gee-whizz, it's a luxury to have that one day a week. How many older actors get that luxury? It's wonderful to keep busy," actor Ian Smith told Digital Spy in an exclusive interview.

Harold and Sky aren't the only characters returning.

Hilary Robinson, played by Anne Scott-Pendlebury, will also be on screens in upcoming episodes. Like Harold, she moves into the Eirini Rising retirement complex.

Hilary's return causes some drama between Terese and Paul.

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.

Neighbours has revealed when Sky Mangel will arrive back in Erinsborough.

New spoiler pictures offer a first look at Stephanie McIntosh reprising her role as the fan favourite.

Sky's comeback scenes air on Wednesday, July 3 as she turns up for a visit to her grandfather Harold Bishop.

Neighbours' new photos show Sky exploring Eirini Rising for the first time and catching up with familiar faces like Susan Kennedy, Karl Kennedy and Toadie Rebecchi.

Harold moved into the Eirini Rising retirement complex late last month.

Ian Smith has reprised the role of Harold on a semi-regular basis, filming for one day per week.

He recently told Digital Spy: "It's back on a 'bits and bobs' basis. I'm not sure whether they asked me to come back full time or not, but if they had, I would have said no because I am retired.

"But I'm back for one day a week and gee-whizz, it's a luxury to have that one day a week. How many older actors get that luxury? It's wonderful to keep busy."

He continued: "I received the call out of the blue. I was standing on a pier, with a fishing rod in my hand, and my phone went. It was the boss asking me whether I'd come back. We did so much talking, I think it was at least half an hour.

"At the end of it, I was back on the show doing bits and bobs and a smile came back on my face for the first time in a while. It was fun, I like phone calls like that."

Neighbours officially announced Sky's return last month. Stephanie played the role as a show regular between 2003 and 2007, later making returns in 2015, 2020 and 2022.
