Emmerdale is lining up new drama for Ellis Chapman as his father Al Chapman will be making his way to the village in the near future.
And Al will be played by a familiar face too, as actor Michael Wildman's CV includes roles in Harry Potter – where he played Magorian, leader of the centaurs, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – and Steven Spielberg movie Ready Player One.
Speaking about his role on the soap, Michael revealed that Al will be "ruffling a few feathers", and he's set to cause a lot of drama for Ellis (Asan N'jie), his ex Jessie Dingle (Sandra Marvin) and her new relationship.
"Al's come into Emmerdale ruffling a few feathers," Michael said. "He has been abroad on business. It's not clear what his intentions are. Al is trying to build the bridge with his son Ellis but thinks he can just come back in to his life and pick up where he left off.
"He doesn’t have to do much to make Jessie's husband Marlon feel insecure. He's going to be an interesting character," the actor added.
Well, considering Al didn't visit his son in hospital after he was stabbed, we'd say there's a lot that he needs to be making up for.
Fortunately, it looks like Al will get the chance to do just that, as Michael also shared that he's on the soap "for the foreseeable".
"I did a screen test for Emmerdale several years ago," he continued. "I can't remember what the character was. But it felt right this time and I was sold on the fact that everyone at Emmerdale was really nice.
"I don't know how long Al will stay – it depends how well he's liked or hated. I'm here for the foreseeable."
As well as featuring in Harry Potter, Michael has also had roles on Extras, where he starred alongside Samuel L Jackson, and he's actually starred in a British soap before, playing Marc MacKenzie in Channel 5's Family Affairs from 2003 until 2004.
"This is on a much bigger scale. The workload was a lot back then but it's much more now," Michael explained of the differences between the two soaps.
"It's been fun though. I've been filming for two and a half weeks but it's felt like I've been here months as I've been thrown into it."

Emmerdale's Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) has been deceiving his partner Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) for months ? he proposed to Priya and gave her a frosty response when she tried to make wedding plans.
Al has also been acting very distant and has been disappearing randomly, as well as receiving mysterious phone calls from another woman.
Things are closing in for Al as his cheating will be exposed over the festive period on the soap, and Michael Wildman recently spoke to Digital Spy and other media about Al's betrayal.
While Michael couldn't reveal who the lady in question is, he did mention that Al thinks he can get away with the affair that he's been having behind Priya's back.
"As things escalate, that's where the game comes in for him and unfortunately that's where he thrives. He doesn't set out to be like that, but as we get further into it, that's where there's a buzz and that's how it continues," he said.
"Playing a game is generally what he does. That wasn't his intention but as it moves on and becomes more difficult for him, secretly that's what he enjoys."
Michael also said that Al doesn't want to hurt Priya and that he cares deeply for her, explaining: "Priya is the first woman that he truly does love ? you see a side of him that only she has been allowed to bring out.
"There are some real moments where you see he's really conflicted about it ? not because he intends to keep the other woman, but he knows what he's doing is wrong. He's flawed but he can't help himself."
Michael also spoke about the lengths that Al will go to in order to protect his secret, doing what is necessary because he's 'selfish and a narcissist'. He also hinted that Al would hurt other people around him in order to protect himself.

So now the Emmerdale writers have decided Al should join the ever growing group of potential murderers in Emmerdale.
This is fast becoming so unbelievable that it is almost at the point of unwatchable

Emmerdale star Michael Wildman has revealed that the show will revisit the backstory of his character Al Chapman as part of his new storyline.
Earlier this week, spoilers were released confirming that Al will give into temptation with Chas Dingle again next week.
Al is currently in a relationship with Kerry Wyatt, while Chas is married to Paddy Dingle.
However, when Chas struggles with the news that her mum Faith is terminally ill, she finds herself bonding with Al, who has attended his stepfather's funeral.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media about why Al is able to relate to Chas, Michael explained: "We touched on it in the lockdown episodes about Al's upbringing, although at the time even I didn't know if that was true or not. But it seems like it is true.
"Al's stepfather has now died and he struggles with that, only because there's a lot of questions that he would've wanted to ask, which he now doesn't get a chance to do. At this stage Al is in limbo and he's lost. That's basically how him and Chas connect at this moment in time.
"They have connected a few times before, so I don't think it's too much of a shock that the two of them can hold a conversation, even given what's gone on previously ? all the stuff with The Woolpack.
"It wasn't a huge surprise to me that they find each other and talk this out."
He continued: "I think their relationship is quite a mature one. Whatever it is, it's always dealing with life. We did this before, when the two characters went off and had the picnic and talked about life ? that's what they do.
"I'm not saying they could be absolute partners, but they can certainly be friends because they actually connect on that level. Al doesn't lack empathy ? you do see remorse, and guilt and understanding."
Michael also spoke about the likelihood that Chas is just using Al for escapism at a difficult time.

He said: "Al is cunning enough to know what's going on, but at the same time, he would never admit that. He'll always want to be the alpha male in whatever situation he's in.
"So he would never admit to that, but he's not stupid enough to not know what's going on."

I don't care how he leaves just as long as he does and never comes back. Totally useless character.

he is one of many useless, but storm will probably only take minor character(s), he might die a hero saving someone

Al?s death confirmed as Michael Wildman quits Emmerdale after three years? Al Chapman could be set to meet a shocking end in Emmerdale, in the wake of Michael Wildman quitting his role after three years. The actor, who portrays Al Chapman on the ITV soap, will bow out in upcoming scenes in a bid to pursue other acting opportunities
Wonder if he leaves with Kerry as Laura must be off on maternity leave soon or if Cain kills him....

If you remember he looked at both women and decided to look after Chas, at that time Kerry was still down on the floor, he had no idea if it was serious or not.

id say on the run for shooting cain or chas or kerry

I hope he does not kill anyone or that Cain kills him, would not want Cain to do time for murdering him, I am just glad he will be gone soon.
Sharon Marshall on This Morning just said that the gun was fired and one character will not have too many more lines to learn. Cain is in next week's spoilers so it is not him that might have died.. so unless somebody else got into the barn which we didn't see and got accidentally shot it must be Al as Michael Wildman is leaving...

He might still be alive and leave with Kerry because they need to give her an exit storyline now...
Moira is heartbroken next week, could it be that Kyle had got into the barn and got killed? Not going to be Cain.
chas told al about cain and moira and faith's suicide maybe he or chas tells the police then liam in trouble
I am always years behind current popular movies but watching Baby Reindeer and there is Al Chapman :)
