Channel Seven is reportedly 'under pressure' to make changes to its programming next year after the Nine Network dominated the ratings with Married At First Sight.

In light of this, questions are being raised as to whether Home and Away could be heading for the chopping block after it failed to deliver in the 7pm time slot.

On Monday night, Seven News drew in 1.115 million viewers at 6:30pm, but these numbers plummeted to 661,000 as soon as the soap began airing.

According to this yahoo.com article, Ch7 aren't thinking of axing H&A all together, but rather are 'considering' either moving it to a different/later timeslot or alternatively showing "five episodes of Home and Away airing on Friday nights on the network’s streaming platform 7PLUS, before being broadcast the following week on 7TWO."

We will see. As we know, there has been regular talk of them considering changing H&A's timeslot or moving it to digital channel 7TWO over the last few years. I note that over recent weeks, when there has been AFL games on a couple of Thursday nights, Ch7 has moved H&A to 7TWO in the AFL states on the Thursday (& then replayed it on the main Ch7 later that night). So maybe there is some truth to it this time.....

It’s one of Australia’s longest-running soaps, but after 30 years it seems Home and Away might be pulled from Channel Seven’s prime time programming.

According to TV Blackbox, network executives have observed a decline in the show’s ratings since 2017, and replacing Home and Away with another show in that time slot is one of the options they’re considering...………………..

THIS! They should look at the reasons WHY the number of viewers has dropped, particularly surrounding the writing and storylines. I stopped watching 2 years ago, after watching it since 1997 and I won't start up again unless there's an improvement. I always follow the spoilers in case that changes but so far it hasn't.

Coming back late this year, and changing the scheduling hasn’t helped either.
