Iain MacLeod has announced the arrival of a new family onto the famous Corrie cobbles.
The Bailey family will walk into Weatherfield in Spring, first appearing on our screens from early June as they move into No.3, having bought the house from Norris.
The family is made up of Dad Edison (Trevor Michael Georges), known as Ed, and Mum Aggie (Lorna Laidlaw), both in their 50s, and their two sons Michael (Ryan Russell) and James (Nathan Graham).

yea, at last, a "full" family, wonder how long it will be before the "mother" is wrote out so Ed can join the single Dad's!!
Led by Aggie, the cobbles’ newest clan are about to land. And with son James set to be involved in a footballer homophobia storyline, they will soon be in the midst of some heavy drama. But there’s plenty of warmth and humour to be had from them too says Iain. He told us: ‘I am really excited to introduce this new family – the audience is going to love them! They’re funny, warm and will pull together through thick and thin in the storylines we’ve got lined up for them.’

She nows works for Roy in the cafe
I have so far not taken to the new family
I was hoping she would work away from the Street for a change but no such luck. She might be good in this upcoming storyline about James.

yea me too, acting is not good, Aggie is trying to hard to be the strong one in the family, would be nice to just have some normal problems that happen in families
For a small street the quota of GAy residents is swelling, seems Corri is obsessed with ticking all the pc boxes, and how all the residents can find work just fallling out of bed and straight to work.
But liked the scene with Evelyn and Cathy in the pub, bit of humour again!
I like-the mum and-boys dont like Eds and his put on laugh
she needs to be there, is the actress off cocooning for the baileys storyline, so aggie loved married ronnie before she got soon with ed
where is she?
Allegedly spending time with a family member between working many shifts at the hospital..... :hmm:

Supposedly. But it's all very unbelievable that she would never spend any time at home.
Not going to be back until Christmas....

Not even then apparently.

Apparently its very difficult to get home helps in her area so they can use an NHS nurse who presumably has been replaced at the hospital by a bank nurse at twice the cost.

There are a lot of unbelievable storylines in Corrie, but this one takes the biscuit!

is the actress sick?
What's happened to her seems to be a complete mystery. ITV have not made any comment about why she is off screen for so long.
is the actress sick?
I have googled her and could find info that she is in good health..... total mystery

This isn't the first substantial break Lorna has had. She was absent from July to November in 2020. I think the reason that was given then was that she had a vulnerable relative that she was looking after in real life, so perhaps this is the case again?

Would be nice if ITV would make a statement to that effect.. she might not be everybody's cup of tea but I am a fan and I hope she will be back soon.

Looking after a sick aunt apparently.
Still no mention of her returning any time soon despite Ed's gambling addiction and now financial struggles....

Obviously her sick auntie is more important to her than her husband and kids.
Apparently Lorna Laidlaw's mother is sick after getting Covid so she is looking after her :(

Coronation Street will provide an update on Aggie Bailey next week, as Ed returns from a visit to her with some shocking news.
Aggie is currently staying in Birmingham to care for a sick relative and has been away from Weatherfield while Ed has been battling with his gambling addiction, as well as the debts that he has mounted.
In scenes that will air on Wednesday, April 3, Michael shows Dee-Dee a final demand letter that has arrived in the post for their dad. Dee-Dee is shocked when she realises just how much money a debt-ridden Ed still owes.
When Ed returns home from visiting Aggie in Birmingham, he breaks the sad news to Michael that Aggie has given him his marching orders, and she won't be returning home.
Saddened Michael offers his dad a comforting hug, quickly sliding the final demand letter out of sight.
Will Michael and Dee-Dee really be able to protect Ed from the extent of his debts?
This latest development comes after Ed was tricked into an insurance scam by Damon Hay earlier this year, following the devastating fire at the builders' yard.
When Damon advised Ed to submit an inflated insurance claim in order to make a profit from the fire, Ed refused ? but Damon soon got involved in producing the fraudulent claim anyway.
Actor Trevor Michael Georges, who plays Ed, has previously spoken about how much Ed's gambling has devastated his family in the past, saying that their move to Weatherfield was sparked by "Ed bringing his whole family into crisis".
"I don't think that guilt will ever leave him," he added.
Nothing new there then....
The Sun has reported that Laidlaw has officially left her Corrie role and says that she has no plans to return.
The site has also reported that Laidlaw has landed her first role since leaving the Cobbles, as she has joined the cast of Channel 5 drama The Good Ship Murder.
