Neighbours is continuing its ties with the Donovan family, as Jason's 18-year-old daughter Jemma has now joined the soap's cast.

Described as a "whip-smart, diplomatic and complex young girl", Jemma will enter the fray as Harlow Robinson. This also connects the actress to her dad's character, Scott Robinson, who he played for three years in the late 1980s.


Jemma shared her excitement over getting the role, saying: "I was so happy and very honoured to be a part of a series which has been enjoyed by generations.

"The timing was also perfect because since my previous role on Spotless in 2015, I stopped going to auditions and acting because I wanted to finish my schooling, get my A-levels, and see what I wanted to do after that.

"So it's great how everything has fallen into place

And Jason – who's considered Neighbours royalty – sees this opportunity as an "incredible learning curve" for Jemma.

"It's become an institution and I'm so grateful for my time on Ramsay Street," he said. "There are so many great memories for me looking back, and to be honest, this is Jemma's moment.

"My dad [Terence Donovan] had a wonderful few years and I'm sure Jemma will also embrace the experience and honour the past," he said. "She needs to look forward, be an open book, learn from her experiences and have some fun. What an opportunity!"


"Jason and Terence are Ramsay Street royalty and it warms all our hearts to know there will be a third generation Donovan on the show. I’m excited to see Jemma carry the torch and make the character of Harlow her own.”

Neighbours can't seem to get enough of the Donovan family – Jason's half-sister Stephanie McIntosh also had a stint on the soap as Sky Mangel.

Jemma is scheduled to appear on screens from July 2019, and Neighbours fans will find out exactly how Harlow fits into the Robinson family tree over the coming months.

Although Lucy has been back in the show several times - looking different each time! - as well as mentioned off screen fairly recently and I haven't seen a child mentioned, although Wikipedia says there is an Annie.

Jason Donovan’s role as Scott Robinson on Neighbours in the 1980s made him a household name. Now his daughter Jemma Donovan, 19, is set to make her on mark in the TV industry after taking on a role in the same Aussie soap drama.

Neighbours is turning into a family affair.

Jason Donovan still ranks as one of the Aussie soap’s biggest stars after playing Scott Robinson opposite Kylie Minogue from 1986 to 1989.

Years later, Jason’s father Terence also had a stint on Ramsay St as easygoing Doug Willis.

Now it is time for Jemma Donovan to follow in her family’s footsteps; playing Harlow Robinson on the 10 Peach show.

Jemma, 19, is the oldest of Jason’s three children with wife Angela Malloch. Brother Zac is a year behind and sister Molly a decade younger.

Jemma grew up in England and started her professional acting career at age 11 opposite Hugh Bonneville in the BBC One film Mr. Stink, written by David Walliams (Little Britain).

In 2015 she appeared in the French-American 10-part Netflix series Spotless, playing troubled teen Maddy Bastiere.

Last year, Jemma decided to audition for Neighbours with the full support of dad, Jason.

“I wanted to audition for Neighbours because it has such an attachment to my family,” Jemma says.

“My dad always said he had great experiences on it. He was really into me trying for it — auditioning and having a go and see what happens.

“He absolutely adored it (Neighbours). He always speaks very highly of his time on the show. He definitely encouraged me and set a good tone for the audition.

“I auditioned for another character originally. After my audition they (Neighbours producers) probably didn’t feel like I suited that character.

“They wrote the character of Harlow because it kind of follows a similar storyline to mine — moving from the UK to Australia with some family here.

“In that sense it is quite similar (to real life) which is cool and really fun to play. I can see the similarities and differences (with Harlow) and use that to my advantage.”

Jason was quick to congratulate his daughter on winning the role saying: “Neighbours is an incredible learning curve for any young actor. There are so many great memories for me.

“This is Jemma’s moment. My dad had a wonderful few years and I’m sure Jemma will also embrace the experience and honour the past.”

It was a past that Jemma had to catch up on with a crash course of footage on the internet. As a child she was largely oblivious to Neighbours and her father’s soapie super-stardom.

“I was aware of it (Neighbours) but never watched it,” Jemma says. “I feel like such a terrible daughter because I’d not watched him in any of it. He wasn’t on when I was watching TV.

“Auditioning for the role I started to watch it because I wanted to get an idea of what I was potentially going into.

“And the other day I started watching clips of my dad because everyone kept asking me: ‘Have you watched any of your dad?’ and I’d say: ‘No, maybe I should have’.

“To me, he’s just my dad. He always helps me and he’s always been there for me and supportive of whatever I want to do.”

Jemma says both her parents had encouraged her to follow her dreams to Australia provided she had an education behind her. It was while fulfilling their wishes at school that she realised her true passion was in entertainment. And just like her old man, who famously recorded a hit duet with his then-girlfriend, Minogue, Jemma also loves to sing. But, for now, the focus is Neighbours.

Jemma says the Donovan legacy didn’t weight too heavily on her mind on her first day on set.

“It [first day] was a terrifying experience — it always is when you start a new job,” she says. “I was coming into a very established cast and a well-oiled machine.

“You’re getting to know people and you’re also having to introduce a character who is new and different.

“Just the amount of scenes they film in one day [is a challenge] … Your character’s doing one thing in one week [of episodes] and then the next week she’s doing something completely different but you’ve got to shoot it [the two lots of scenes] on the same day.

“It involves all of your emotions, all of your skills to bring it [together]. You are never sitting back doing nothing.”

Jemma says while the entire cast had been welcoming, she quickly forged bonds with castmates Zima Anderson (Roxy) and Olivia Junkeer (Nashvi).

“They’re girls my age and they’ve been so kind to me,” she says.

“I love being around them. We have a lot of fun together.”

She adds that she also has a lot in common with her character, Harlow who also hails from the UK and, like her dad Jason’s character, is part of Ramsay Street’s original residents, the Robinsons.

“She is the granddaughter of Paul Robinson (Stefan Denis) which is really fun because I get to work with Stefan a lot,” she says.

“He has been on the show so long. He has a great understanding of the show. He’s a really good mentor on the show.

“Harlow is trying to get some answers and we’ll see if she finds any. We shall see!”

Jemma Donovan makes her debut on Monday 15th July as Harlow Robinson, 19-year-old daughter of Paul Robinson’s (Stefan Dennis) jailed killer son Robert Robinson (Adam Hunter). The patriarch of Erinsborough’s famous family has no idea she even exists until they meet in a prison visiting room – so what’s the story?

Who is Harlow Robinson?

Harlow is the offspring of Robert, Paul’s deranged serial killer son who was jailed in 2007 for multiple murder. Doctor David Tanaka visits his half-sibling in the hope of making him the subject of his medical exploration of the criminal mind but Paul wants to shut it down and races to the maximum security prison where his son is incarcerated.

“Paul is confronted with one of his greatest demons when he sees Robert again,” reveals Neighbours stalwart Dennis. “He bursts in to tell David not to get involved and Robert is on the other side of the glass – they don’t say anything and Robert storms off, refusing to speak to anyone.

“In comes this girl blaming them for being the reason she now can’t see her father – Paul had no idea Robert even had a kid! It emerges Robert met a British backpacker called Prudence almost 20 years ago when she was travelling in Tasmania. They had a fling and Harlow was the result. She has had nothing to do with her father but stated writing to him and came to Australia so they could meet.

“Paul then brings Harlow under the wing of the family and she moves in with him and Terese back in Ramsay Street. We get to know her, she’s a very sound, sensible and clever girl.”

What storylines are lined up for Harlow Robinson?

Rebekah Elmaloglou, aka Paul’s partner Terese Willis, tells RadioTimes.com Harlow will butt heads with fellow housemate Roxy Willis, Terese’s wild child niece. “Harlow is the complete opposite to Roxy, they completely clash and the dynamic is fantastic! It takes a while for Terese to convince Paul to embrace Harlow because of the links to Robert, then they end up sharing the house with two squabbling teenagers!”

“There is a sensational food fight at some point between the girls,” laughs Dennis. “We have some very comical moments coming up. Considering her dad is a baddie there’s no dark side pointed to yet with Harlow, but it’s a soap so anything could happen! Paul will side with Harlow more than Roxy at first because she is blood.”

Viewers will eventually meet Harlow’s mum who will be played by Denise Van Outen, who Dennis and Elmaloglou recently filmed with on location in London.

How does Jason Donovan feel about his daughter joining Neighbours?

“Jemma is divine and it’s great she’s practically Ramsay Street royalty being Jason’s daughter,” smiles Elmaloglou. “Jason is coming to do a musical in Australia soon so we’re hoping he comes to visit her on set.”

“I saw Jason at Christmas,” confides Dennis, referring to the Neighbours reunion with Donovan, Guy Pearce (Mike Young) and Annie Jones (Jane Harris) that sparked a wave of nostalgia when the gang posted a picture on social media. “He told me Jemma was joining the show and he told me to look after! I promised him I would so am making sure she’s alright. We try and welcome the newcomers so they feel part of the family as quickly as we can.”

Jason Donovan was the second actor to play Paul’s brother Scott, replacing Darius Perkins in 1986 a year after Neighbours started. Scott’s romance with tomboy mechanic Charlene Mitchell launched him and co-star Kylie Minogue into superstardom, their 1987 wedding still regarded as the biggest moment in the show’s history.

Scott left in 1989, settling off-screen in Brisbane with Charlene where they had two children, Daniel and Madison. Jemma becomes the third generation Donovan to appear in Neighbours with her grandfather – Jason’s dad – Terence playing Doug Willis (Terese’s ex-father-in-law) from 1990, and on a recurring basis until the character was killed off in 2016. Mentioned in the Robert thread the fact that Elle's character was subjected to retroactive continuity. Add in that Harlow will be 16 and it makes more sense.

If she'd been living in the UK, her name would have raised some eyebrows.

Not far from where I grew up, just over the county border, was a town called Harlow. A concrete post-ww2 new-town built/expanded to house those bombed out of London. Lots of tower blocks from what I remember and wikipedia says it has/had the 3rd highest proportion of social housing in the UK (2011). There is a nice part with medieval and victorian settlements, but the busiest parts are the out-of-town retail parks which smell like burgers - as most do wherever you go.

Neighbours fans will see Ramsay Street's residents gather to say an emotional farewell to Harlow Robinson next week – but don't worry, she may not be going anywhere.

Harlow (Jemma Donovan) is about to make the big decision to move back to London with her mother Prue, who's currently in Erinsborough for a visit.

When Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou) and Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) learn that Harlow is thinking of leaving, they realise that they've been neglecting her and promise to do much better if she sticks around.

Unfortunately, pushy Prue (Denise van Outen) gets the upper hand when she spots Terese secretly drinking and decides to use the situation to her advantage.

Knowing that Terese wouldn't want her family to know that she has fallen off the wagon, Prue urges her to support the plan to move Harlow back to the UK.

As a result, Paul feels betrayed when Terese doesn't completely side with him over Prue, instead insisting that it should be Harlow's decision.

When it's confirmed that Harlow will be leaving, her family and friends gather on Ramsay Street to say goodbye and wish her all the best.

What nobody realises is that Prue has a huge ulterior motive for wanting Harlow back home – she plans to recruit her into the sinister Restoration Order.

Once Harlow and Prue have left for the airport, Gary Canning and Amy Williams begin to compare notes on Prue and unravel her deception.

A race against time follows to save Harlow from Prue and the Restoration Order before she gets on the plane. Will Harlow be sticking around after all?

Neighbours has hinted at a controversial move from Harlow Robinson as fears grow for David Tanaka.

Harlow (Jemma Donovan) will be part of the efforts to help David in upcoming episodes, as he needs a transplant due to his remaining kidney starting to fail.

As we've already revealed, David's twin brother Leo (Tim Kano) will be back on Ramsay Street next week after agreeing to get tested. Sadly, it turns out that Leo isn't a viable donor for David.

The bad news sends the Robinson family scrambling for other options. Although Harlow has been told that she's not old enough to be a donor, she desperately looks for a way to get around this issue.

Harlow also urges Roxy Willis (Zima Anderson) to be tested as a possible donor. Roxy later hears that she has matched on the first test, but she privately worries about the implications of going further.

Feeling fearful, Roxy hides her positive results and lets Harlow look for other potential donors instead.

Running out of options, Harlow considers one very dangerous idea to help David (Takaya Honda), which could have big implications for the Robinson family.

Meanwhile, Paul (Stefan Dennis) can't help feeling terrified and powerless as he faces David's health crisis.

Leo explains that he feels exactly the same way, which leads to his rocky relationship with Paul thawing at last. Can they get things back on track?

On Paul Robinson's (Stefan Dennis) birthday, Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou) decides to throw a family brunch to celebrate.

Paul actually receives a gift from Robert Robinson – a plant seedling – after visiting and thanking his son in person. Uncomfortable with the gift, Paul wants to throw the present away.

However, Harlow (Jemma Donovan) finds out, and – believing in the importance of family – insists that Paul keep the plant.

Harlow is also down after her mother Prue, who returned to London and rejoined the Restoration Order, has yet to respond to her emails.

Gary Canning (Damien Richardson) attempts to convince Harlow that Prue does love her, even though it seems Prue isn't interested in speaking to her.

Later, Harlow confronts Hendrix Greyson (Benny Turland), who has been frustrated with his own family. Harlow tells Hendrix that he should consider himself fortunate that his parents are around, unlike hers.

The talk persuades Hendrix to change his stance and become more open to being a family unit with his parents again.

Neighbours hints that Harlow Robinson and Hendrix Greyson could become a couple next week.

The show explores a possible chemistry between the teens once Erinsborough High's students return to school for the first week of the school year.

Harlow (Jemma Donovan) is catching up with her friend Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone) when Hendrix suddenly arrives and takes his shirt off in the middle of the corridor.

Harlow can't help staring at her neighbour's bare chest and is shaken by her own feelings for him.

Before long, Harlow confides in Mackenzie – admitting that she does have a crush on Hendrix, even though she's hardly a fan of his personality.

The next day, Hendrix is amused to realise that Harlow may have feelings for him and decides to test his theory.

Hendrix meets Harlow, deliberately shirtless again, under the guise of wanting to visit Clementine the cat.

When Hendrix sees that Harlow is flustered again, his theory is confirmed and he mischievously decides to push things further.

At school later, Hendrix drops down and does one-armed push-ups, all for Harlow's benefit as she watches on.

Harlow is suspicious over Hendrix's smug behaviour – is it only a matter of time before she realises what he's up to?

The star famously played Scott Robinson on the soap before leaving over 30 years ago, and things have kept in the family with Jemma joining the show last year as Harlow Robinson.

Well, Jason took a trip down memory lane this week as he visited the set where it all started, sharing a number of posts on Instagram.

In a new video, the star walks around Ramsay Street as he recalls memories from his time there, admitting: "30 years ago, this street changed my life. Lots of memories, man. Lots of memories."

He also shared a picture with Jemma next to the Ramsay Street sign, writing: "Back in Melbourne couldn't resist a trip down memory lane to visit my daughter @jemma_donovan".

Jemma posted the photo on her own Instagram too, joking: "It was bring your dad to work day today on set".

Last year, Jason sang his daughter's praises over her role, saying: "As long as she's passionate, as long as she works hard, which she's doing. She's really smashing it, and I hope she gets a lot out of the process. It's a wonderful business to be in."

As for whether he would ever return himself, Jason admitted that it is unlikely, explaining in December: "It doesn't feel like something I need to do.

"I have absolute respect for the show and what it's given me, but the problem with going back would be that the publicity becomes bigger than the moment."

"It's so crazy to think it's been a whole year!" she wrote.

"I remember getting off the plane into Melbourne and thinking this is probably one of the scariest things I'll ever do... relocating by myself, starting a new job, making new friends, but I can honestly say this whole experience in general has been life-changing."

Brent tells Harlow that her belief in him is the reason why he has been turning his life around.

But in upcoming scenes, Harlow wants the situation to come to an end as Mick's antics are also starting to frustrate her.

She privately rues her decision to switch the applications and approaches Chloe with an offer to team up to get rid of him.

Wanting Mick gone, Chloe considers the offer. Can Chloe and Harlow put their differences aside for this one objective?

The scenes come after a stressed Chloe turned down Leo Tanaka's job offer at the vineyard, choosing to remain at Lassiters in the hopes of reconciling with Nicolette Stone at some point.

Harlow ends up getting a drink with Corey and enjoys his company. When she later goes to see Harriet, she's stunned to find out that her aunt had stolen the diary.

Harriet confesses that she asked Harlow to come to London after the Restoration Order ? the cult that Prue had been a part of ? approached her, offering a significant amount of money for the diary.

A conversation with Corey leads Harlow to make a decision over the diary, burning it in order to be free from the Restoration Order.

Harlow and Harriet meet up again and they make amends.

Afterwards, Corey tells Harlow that he likes her. With the whole thing with Ned still fresh on her mind, Harlow turns him down and suggests they remain friends. But is this the last time Harlow will see Corey?

Sophie Ellis-Bextor also makes a cameo appearance in the London scenes, as Harlow bumps into the singer and has a brief conversation with her.

Next week, Corey and Harlow spend time in a secluded cottage together. Corey is repeatedly spiking Harlow's drinks with drugs in order to control her behaviour.

Back on Ramsay Street, Freya Wozniak becomes suspicious when she spots Harlow's cardigan in the car of Corey's secret accomplice Christabel.

Freya decides to do some digging and heads to the cottage. She's concerned to find Harlow under the influence of drugs, but before she can take action, Corey attacks her.

While Freya is unconscious, Corey ties her up and then prioritises taking Harlow away to a new location.

Freya manages to free herself and is found by David and Levi Canning. They all set off in hot pursuit of Corey, hoping to reach Harlow in time.

There's relief all round when Harlow manages to escape from Corey's grasp with help from David, Freya and Levi. Unfortunately, the situation isn't totally resolved as Corey manages to get away.

Christabel is brought in for questioning, but insists that she has no idea where Corey is.

This frustrates Harlow, who feels that justice hasn't been served after her ordeal.

The following day, Harlow puts her plan into action by sending some misleading texts, knowing that Corey will be reading them.

Harlow is disappointed when there's no immediate success.

Sergeant Andrew Rodwell, who recently moved to Ramsay Street, warns Harlow that she shouldn't let her Corey mission consume her life like this.

Neighbours has confirmed that Harlow Robinson's final scenes will air on UK screens next week.

Jemma Donovan finished filming at the show a few weeks ago, wrapping up her time as Harlow after a three-year stint.

In upcoming scenes, Harlow finally gets closure on her recent ordeal with Corey Smythe-Jones.

A new high-stakes storyline sees Erinsborough High students Zara Selwyn and Sadie Rodwell team up to outsmart Corey and bring him out of hiding.

The mission leads to danger, as Sadie is attacked by the evil villain and Zara is kidnapped.

Knowing what Corey is capable of, Zara pushes down her panic and tries to escape.

Zara thinks on her feet by sedating Corey with his own drugs. She then gets behind the wheel and brings Corey back to Erinsborough to finally face justice.

Once Corey is in police custody, he stubbornly refuses to reveal anything unless he can speak to Harlow.

When they come face-to-face, Harlow gets answers to the questions that have been plaguing her for months. Harlow is able to claim back her power and close a disturbing chapter of her life.

Later, Harlow gets an offer from her aunt to come and live with her in London for good.

Harlow is keen on the idea, but worries about leaving Mackenzie Hargreaves when she's grieving for her late husband Hendrix.

Mackenzie assures Harlow that she doesn't want to stand in the way of her happiness, so it's soon agreed that Harlow will be moving.

Harlow breaks the news to a surprised Terese Willis and then says a bittersweet goodbye to her friends.

Harlow's departure comes a few weeks before the Neighbours finale.

Several other characters ? including Kyle Canning, Roxy Willis, Ned Willis and Hendrix ? have left the show before the end. However, Kyle, Roxy and Ned have all been confirmed to make return appearances in the final weeks.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.

Neighbours star Jemma Donovan has spoken about her exit from the soap and saying goodbye to character Harlow Robinson.

UK viewers saw Harlow leave Ramsay Street last month after a dramatic storyline involving schemer Corey Smythe-Jones.

Following Corey's arrest, Harlow was able to get the answers from him she had been looking for, thus closing the disturbing chapter of her life.

She then decided to take her aunt up on an offer to come live with her in London for good.

Speaking on the soap's official Twitter account following her exit, Jemma said both her and Harlow had 'grown massively' since she made her Neighbours debut in 2019.

"I think it's easy to grow with your character in an environment like this, just because you kind of do it parallel with each other," Jemma said.

"Me personally, I feel like I've just grown as an actor. The great thing about a soap is you get to be put into so many different storylines that you kind of would never in a series or a movie.

"So I feel like I've grown in confidence because I've been put in so many different scenarios. Harlow, I can just remember when she first rocked up in Erinsborough and I think she's grown up beautifully as well," she continued.

"She knows what she wants and she's not afraid to stand up for what she wants, even more so than she did when she first came on the show."

Jemma went on to thank the soap's fans, ahead of its final-ever episode airing later this month.

"I just want to say thank you to everyone for watching everyday," Jemma said. "This show has been an incredible platform for me and for everyone else and it's been an honour to be a part of it. I'm gonna get emotional. It's been the most amazing experience for not just for me acting-wise but it just as a person.

"And just being able to introduce Harlow to to your screens and for you guys to get to love and support her like I do and I'm going to miss playing her a lot. So thank you."

Neighbours airs its last-ever episode on Friday, July 29 in the UK and it will feature Jemma's real-life dad Jason Donovan returning to Ramsay Street as Scott Robinson alongside Kylie Minogue as Charlene Mitchell.

Former Neighbours star Jemma Donovan is heading to Hollyoaks as a new regular cast member.

The actress has landed the role of Rayne, who'll make her first appearance on the Channel 4 soap later this year.

Billed as an outgoing party girl, Rayne already has a celebrity status as she's well-known as a social media sensation.

She'll be moving to the village alongside her childhood best friend, who's another new character for the show.

Jemma commented: "I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks! I'm so grateful for this opportunity to be able to bring something unique and fun to a new role and I can't wait to be a part of the Hollyoaks family."

Digital Spy can reveal that Hollyoaks bosses have brought in Rayne as part of an exciting new character group who'll be taking centre stage on the show next year.

The soap's team are putting a group of 20-somethings under one roof in a share house, reminiscent of student set-ups which used to feature prominently in Hollyoaks.

Rayne, Prince McQueen, Romeo Nightingale and Nadira Valli will be among the characters living together, with strict Tom Cunningham as their landlord, creating exciting new dynamics and storyline possibilities.

A Hollyoaks insider told Digital Spy: "The new house of 20-somethings will be a throwback to the early years of the show, when batches of new students would arrive at Hollyoaks Community College and live in student halls together.

"Fans have often called for a return of this element in the past few years and the new group will have some huge storylines as the soap heads into 2023."

When Digital Spy asked about the student storylines earlier this year, Hollyoaks' executive producer Lucy Allan replied: "It's funny that you should ask! Whilst we may not go back to a student halls set-up, we'll be looking at a situation of 'friends as family' and house shares. That's definitely on the agenda for 2022."

Jemma is best known for playing Harlow Robinson on Neighbours from 2019. She made her last appearance on the show in July this year, bowing out shortly before the historic finale episode which brought Neighbours to a close.

In real life, Jemma's dad is Neighbours legend Jason Donovan, who reprised his iconic role as Scott Robinson for the finale this year.

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
