View Full Version : Alina (Ruxandra Porojnicu)
He has become smitten with mother of two Sarah Platt, while in an on-off relationship with Faye Windass on Coronation Street.
But Seb Franklin's head is set to be turned by another woman as actor Harry Visinoni filmed scenes with new face on the street Alina (Ruxandra Porojnicu).

Sultry Alina is set to catch Seb's eye when he heads to fix a burst pipe with a toolbox in hand.
It is unclear how many episodes Ruxandra will appear in and MailOnline has contacted a Coronation Street representative for a further comment.
Ruxandra looked delighted to be filming as she cracked a relaxed smile inside the nail bar, before wrapping up in a black and orange quilted jacket between takes.
Harry looked dapper in a khaki green jacket and jeans, paired with a pink shirt.
Seb is set for a turbulent time of time after becoming embroiled in a spat with loanshark Gary Windass (Mikey North) before the roof collapse.
Gary discovered that Sarah Platt cosied up to Adam Barlow after a drunk night out that saw the man try to kiss her.
While fans have speculated whether Sarah will end up having an affair with Seb Franklin, who was the first person to see her leaving Adam's flat.
After Sarah helped him when he was punched by Adam, the teen becomes smitten with the mother of two.
While Gary is also set to become the soap's latest villain as he takes on the role of a loan shark.

CORONATION Street is to feature a shocking storyline about modern slavery.
Bosses have hired actors to play an Eastern European gang including Romanian-born Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays victim Alina.
Cobbles favourite Seb Franklin, played by Harry Visinoni, 19, will fall for the nail salon worker unaware of the squalid conditions she is forced to live in.
He will find himself dragged into the murky underworld of modern slavery when he tries to expose her gangmasters.
A source on the ITV soap said: “It’s a really gritty storyline but based on real issues thousands face in the UK every day.
“Coronation Street researchers have been working closely with the Salvation Army, which the government chose in 2011 to help those in need because of slavery.
“Since then more than 8,000 survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking have come in to their care.”
Show veteran Eileen Grimshaw, played by Sue Cleaver, 55, will also get caught up in the drama, to be aired in spring/summer, as she starts dating Polish builder Jan.
Kathy Betteridge, of Anti Trafficking and Modern Slavery at The Salvation Army, said: “The key to combating this horrific problem is for people to understand what it looks like.
Coronation Street will no doubt be of great help in this.”

So are we going to pander to the extreme right and blame it all on the Polish worker? I really hope Jan actually turns out to be the hero of the piece, otherwise I will be extremely annoyed and disturbed.

With you, parkerman but I think that as he is linked with Eileen, he will not be the good Samaritan ... guess he is the puppet master but would be happy to be corrected :)
Coronation Street's Seb Franklin demands answers from Jan Lozinski next week after discovering his possible link to Alina Pop's modern slavery ordeal.
Big spoilers for next week's episodes have revealed that Seb (Harry Visinoni) is about to uncover the truth about Alina's situation, but it's just the beginning of a big new chapter in the storyline.
When Seb learns that Alina has lied to him about leaving her job at the nail bar, he wants to know why she's avoiding him and heads over there for an explanation.
Seb sneaks round the back of the salon and is shocked to find Alina sitting on an old mattress. It immediately dawns on Seb that this is her home and he's shocked by the poor conditions.
When Alina's dangerous boss Rachel interrupts, Seb hides and is horrified to hear a tense exchange between them. Rachel warns Alina that if she doesn't start behaving, there'll be serious consequences for her and her family.
Once Rachel is gone, Alina insists to Seb that she's grateful to Rachel for giving her a job and a home. Failing to accept the reality of the situation, she explains that once her debt is paid off, she'll be able to send money home to her family.
Seb is appalled to learn that Rachel and her husband are people traffickers, but Alina urges him to leave the situation alone before he gets hurt.
Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays Alina, explained: "When Alina sees Seb turning up at the nail bar, in her room and discovering her situation, all she thinks about is the danger he is putting himself in. He's risking his life, without even knowing.
"For Alina this is a critical moment. She feels so much guilt for getting Seb in this situation that she will do anything to get him out safe, even if that means not seeing him again."
Discussing Alina's backstory, she continued: "Alina is the girl who sees the good in everyone and she chose to look past Rachel's harmful and wicked behaviour, because she still has hope that everything will turn out the way she has planned and she will be able to help her family.
"Like so many other people from poor backgrounds, Alina decided to leave her home in Romania and go to Poland to work for more money.
"However, after a few months she still had no job and that's when she met Nikolai, who offered her a way out. She is being told that in the UK she will have a job, a place to sleep and will make enough money to help her family."
When Seb lurks behind the nail bar later on, he's shocked to see Jan emerging from the business and wonders what the builder is up to.
Later in the week, Seb calls back to the nail salon to confront Rachel in person this time, warning that he knows her game and he'll be watching her.
Rachel shares her concerns over this situation with Jan, before calling her husband to deal with Seb.
Continuing to manipulate the situation, Jan later tells Seb to accept that Alina is not interested in him and he should move on. However, when Seb's mum Abi spots Jan getting into Rachel's car, she reports this back to her son as yet more evidence of Jan's guilt.
Seb ends up confronting Jan in front of his partner Eileen Grimshaw. Jan covers by claiming that he has only just found out about the human trafficking himself, so won't be working for Rachel anymore.
Eileen insists that the police need to be called in to deal with it, but Seb and Jan both refuse to entertain the idea as it would put Alina in danger. Has Jan managed to talk his way out of trouble, convincing Seb that they're on the same page?

I was really hoping that Jan would turn out to be the hero of this story, perhaps as a former gang member who was now trying to bring down this gang from within and Paula was his contact on the legal side of things. It just seems very disappointing that Eileen is in a relationship with another "baddie" and that Seb can't have a nice, normal relationship after all he's been through. Also, it creates a very negative perception of Eastern Europeans, in a society where the majority are just trying to get on with their lives.

Couldn't agree more, emerald, especially the pandering to the extreme right by introducing the only Eastern European characters we've had on the Street, only to have them involved with trafficking and slavery.
Coronation Street's hard-hitting modern slavery storyline, centring around young nail bar worker Alina Pop, comes to a head this week as Alina's love interest Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) makes a bid to save her – and is violently attacked.
Now actress Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays Alina, has called on the UK Government to do more to educate people about their rights, and help to prevent modern slavery.
"This was such an important story to tell and the response has been amazing," she told The Daily Star.
"I've had so many messages from people who had no idea that it was happening here. Hopefully people are going to make sure that they know their rights before they travel to another country," she added.
"But I think the Government has the most important part to play in this. They need to make greater communications for people coming here, so that they know their rights.
"It's so easy for people from poor countries to be manipulated because all they want to do is put food on the table. It makes them so vulnerable."
Speaking about filming the scenes, Ruxandra explained that the storyline really affected her, adding: "I read a lot of stories from people who have been through what Alina has.
"I kept thinking what it must have been like for them. It really affected me emotionally and I felt it with all my body."
Seb recently discovered the truth about Alina's situation when he snuck into the back of the nail salon and found her living there, realising that she was a victim of human trafficking.
He isn't the only person on the cobbles who's grown suspicious either as Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) visits the salon this week suspecting that her partner Jan Lozinski (Piotr Baumann) is up to no good.
While there, Eileen is horrified to find herself witnessing an explosive fight between Jan Lozinski, Rachel Healy and dangerous Nikolai at the salon, who were planning on doing a runner after being exposed by Seb, but fortunately police officers soon storm into the business and arrest the wrongdoers.
In the aftermath, Alina gets the help that she needs from the Salvation Army and returns to the cobbles to update Seb on what had happened, before leaving to go to a safe house with the other girls.
Will Seb ever see Alina again?

Yes, she will be back
The actress who plays Alina has confirmed that she will be back on Monday 10th Feb. Alina will be attempting to start a life for herself in Weatherfield and will compete with Eileen for a job at Underworld, with Alina being offered the position, the actress also commented that someone other than Seb may catch Alina's eye (my guess is Michael).

Bethany no longer seems to work on nails so Alina could take over her place ...
Coronation Street's Ruxandra Porojnicu has hinted at a new love interest for her character Alina Pop.
The ITV soap previously confirmed that the actress would be returning to the cobbles to further explore her relationship with Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni).
However, with Seb now coupled up with Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell), Ruxandra has suggested that Alina could turn her attention to someone else.
Speaking to the Daily Star about Alina's return, Ruxandra said: "She's trying to make a life for herself in Weatherfield but that comes with its own set of problems.
"Seb is there with Emma, but maybe someone else catches her eye."
That's not the only drama Alina will be at the centre of, however. When she returns to Weatherfield next week, she'll pip Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) to a job at the factory.
"Poor Eileen doesn't do so well, but I am so proud of Alina," said Ruxandra. "It's a customer services role and she'll be working in the office.
"It's going to be so interesting to see her interact with other characters."

besides being in the script, why would she go live and work on a street where her ex is with his new girlfriend, it's not like she has friends there or lived or worked there before

Coronation Street viewers haven't actually seen the last of Alina yet, as she is set to appear in Thursday's special hour-long episode.
Though Alina revealed she'd got pregnant weeks after her tragic miscarriage, she has decided to leave Weatherfield because Tyrone has admitted he wants to get back with ex-partner Fiz.

Coronation Street is lining up a return for Tyrone Dobbs?s (Alan Halsall) ex-girlfriend Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) in the coming weeks.
And when she does land on the doorstep of Tyrone and Fiz, it?s likely that she?ll also have their toddler in tow!
If we cast our minds back to 2019, Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) found Alina had been trafficked into the UK to work at a nail salon, with her ?boss? confiscating her passport to prevent her returning home.
After setting up home in Coronation Street, it wasn?t long before she drove a wedge between Tyrone and his long-term partner Fiz (Jennie McAlpine).
Their nine year relationship came to an end, and they both moved into the salon flat together. Tyrone?s pyromaniac daughter Hope (Isabella Flanagan) wasn?t best pleased by their union, and lit a fire in the flat which caused Alina to miscarry a baby.
A few weeks later, she announced she was expecting again, but was upset when she learnt that he?d lied about Hope?s behaviour and decided to jet off to Romania.
Tyrone quickly found her at the Chariot Square Hotel, but she told him that she?d got her dates wrong and was never pregnant in the first place.
However, at the airport departures lounge, she ordered a tomato juice and cradled her stomach, indicating that she was pregnant after all.
Ever since, it?s always been in the back of fans? minds as to whether she and baby could return, and a recent tweet seems to have confirmed this.
Last week, superfan Shaun tweeted a photo of him and actress Ruxandra outside of the soap?s production site in Trafford, Greater Manchester.
He captioned the snap: ?@RuxPorojnicu Thankyou SO much Ruxandra for the photo and autograph today, it?s always lovely to meet you.?
What problems this will cause at No. 9, hope of the Dobbs family, remains to be seen ? but they?re already bursting at the seams since Fiz?s return from working for Underworld in Norwich.
Alongside Hope and Ruby (Billie Naylor), the couple are also living with Tyrone?s mum Cassie (Claire Sweeney), and his grandmother Evelyn (Maureen Lipman).
When approached by Metro.co.uk, a spokesperson for Coronation Street declined to comment.

Coronation Street will give fans an update on Alina Pop next week ahead of actor Ruxandra Porojnicu's return to the ITV soap.
Alina first appeared on the Cobbles in 2019 as part of a hard-hitting human trafficking storyline. She left following a short-lived relationship with Tyrone Dobbs and a tragic fire caused by Tyrone's daughter Hope.
In scenes set to air next week, Rita Tanner and Debbie Webster will tell Fiz that the leader of a Romanian human trafficking group is going on trial and Alina might be called up as a witness to talk about her own experiences.
A few days later, Fiz tells Tyrone she's found a really good deal on a holiday ? but his response is frosty at best. Why is Tyrone less than enthusiastic, and will Fiz start to worry about the state of their relationship again?
Whatever's going on, Alina's return is likely to cause a whole lot of drama... especially if she arrives with a baby in tow (the last time we saw her, it was implied she was pregnant after telling Tyrone she wasn't).
The Sun reported that Porojnicu has already returned to the set and started filming scenes, so it looks like it won't be long before we see Alina on our screens again.
Meanwhile, this Friday (July 26) will feature a special episode for Billy and Paul. Actors Daniel Brocklebank and Peter Ash recently spoke about the "pressure" of the episode and the heart-wrenching storyline.
