its just for now- i think he does die, but its not yet abd hasnt been featured as a spoiler any where yet- i read months a go in a magazine (marie claire i think- i posted it on here)- it had a interview with bill ward (charlie) who said that the alahans play a big part in his downfall
hope this helps
Well it will probably be another sensational storyline if it's under Tony Wood's reign of terror.
I hope he aint killed off because even if this story can become a bit tedious, he's a great charcter and does hte soap some good!
He will be told to leave by PlanKen Barlow for causing havoc in such a "quiet" street in Manchester.

Charlie will eventually have to leave, after everything he's done, villians don't always live long in soaps.
Exactly, I'm always prepared to give this absolute tosh a chance of course. Far be it from me to use the off button on my remote :D

:rotfl:
If this is all they can come up with though, killing people etc, murders every 5 minutes no wonder it's turning into "Load Of Old Cobblers Street".

who's died in Corrie this year, sorry no detahs have been memorbale enough for me to remember...oh yes the boring Harris's, god what a farce that story was
More plotholes than a lump of swiss cheese!
i dont like him but i dont want him to die as he is good to watch
He's got no lips or teeth it would seem!
I hope that Charlie isn't killed off, I like him but hate the "Shelly/Charlie" storyline, put him in another one and he'll be great. Charlie's just about the only good thing in Corrie at the mo..oh and Blanche of course with her "witty" comments and digs:)
I hope he does get killed off then at least it will bring this storyline to a way overdue end. It will also eliminate him coming back and shelly having to live in fear all the time

If him being killed off means the end of this storyline, then that's good enough for me! :cheer:
of course we'll still have to put up with shelly's recovery and her mother fussing over her but i think thats a good enough price to pay

Oh yeah! That'll probably go on for about another 2 months! It's like a never-ending storyline! :rotfl:

i know he is leaving but i aint sure how
The other one I heard was that Charlie proposes to Shelly, and they have filmed or are going to film 2 different episodes with regards to the wedding....
Yeah i heard that too about the two different endings.
The same happened with ther wedding to peter they filmed two endings
But I heard its not going to be shown for ages so it look like we are going to have another storyline that is going to run on and on and on and on etc etc.....
But I heard its not going to be shown for ages so it look like we are going to have another storyline that is going to run on and on and on and on etc etc.....
and on and on and on.......
and on, and on, and on - stop it!!! Its just like that advert!!
Why do they need to keep these storylines going for so long. I know that these things can take their time in real life etc and they are trying to portray it realistically etc, but to keep it going for a year in soap terms is too long - sorry
I hope he does get killed off then at least it will bring this storyline to a way overdue end. It will also eliminate him coming back and shelly having to live in fear all the time
yer good point

it wouldnt be so bad if it was on a few times a week, but do we really need an hour on a monday?
corrie are going right with this story- domestic violence and intimidation DOES happen everyday
i think that too corrie has too many episodes.
yer it has hasnt it?
it doesnt need a double episode. I prefered it when corrie was on monday wednesday friday and eastenders was on tuesday thursday. They like slotted in to each other.

Emmerdale is on far too much too. I think it used to be Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday... but now it's on every day of the week! (except Saturday). The stuff that goes on in one week could easily be fit into about 3 episodes.
The problem to me, when they start putting on extra episodes is that either they start dragging storylines out (like Charlie and Shelly, which I know happens in real life in this manner, but its really starting to depress me, and I'm sure that isn't the aim of soaps! Little Mo and Alfie  etc) or just lose the plot completely and each episode is boring and a load of cobblers. If they all went back to twice / three times a week so they weren't in direct competition with each other, we would go back to better storylines - because they are on pretty much at the same time as each other, they are concentrating too much on trying to be better than other and it just isn't paying off (in my personal opinion this is!! )

its on far too much, that's why story lines seem to go on forever
True - whenever you turn on a soap, it appears to be the same storyline constantly, whereas if it was only on a couple of times a week, it would appear to come to a conclusion a lot quicker...
Bad Wolf
23-07-2005, 10:55
its true, as i said earlier in the thread is it really necessary for corrie to be on for an hour on monday??
i agree it's far too much in one go

In the second episode of Corrie on a Monday, I wouldn't say anything remotely interesting happens!? :thumbsdow And I dunno whether it's just me, but whenever I watch that second episode, it always seems to go by twice as fast as the first :searchme: lol.

posted today in Coronation Street General:
"Coronation Street bosses are delighted that three of the show's favourite sons have signed new contracts to stay in Weatherfield.
Comedian Bradley Walsh, 45, who plays Danny Baldwin, Bill Ward, 38 (Charlie Stubbs) and Richard Fleeshman, 16, (Craig Harris), have all decided to extend their stay in the north-west."
this proves that Charlie will not be killed off in the near future
hence this thread shall be closed, if it turns out that this rumour runs the rounds once more it shall be opened again :)

So we know that Charlie and Shelley have a one night stand before she leaves but it says in Soaplife that Charlie will also bed another street resident so who can it be?
Kelly, Violet, Sarah, Frankie, Leanne, Joanne, Gail, Eileen, Deirdre
In the Sunday papers this week it also says that Bill Ward who plays Charlie is leaving maybe him and Tracey and leave together.

ITV today confirmed that Bill Ward has decided to leave Coronation Street at the end of his current contract in 2007.
Bill, who plays bully boy builder Charlie Stubbs, told producers of his decision, despite only being a few months into his current contract, in order to give them time to develop an exit story for the character.
The show’s story team are now working on what promises to be one of the most explosive exit storylines in the show’s 46-year history. Viewers will see Charlie leave Weatherfield in January next year.
Of his choice to leave, Ward said: “It’s been a very difficult decision to make and one which I have been thinking about since the end of my last contract. I have had the most fantastic three-and-a-half years on the Street. Charlie has been the most fantastic character to play, and I’d really like to thank all the writers, storyliners and producers for giving him and me such great stories. I just felt that I’d done with Charlie everything I possibly could, and that it was probably time to move on.
“I have nothing but the highest admiration for the show and everyone connected with it and am sure it will continue to go from strength to strength. I’ll particularly miss all the cast and crew and would like to wish everyone all the very best for future.”
Coronation Street producer Steve Frost said: “Bill Ward is an asset to the show and we would have been developing further storylines for the character of Charlie Stubbs had he not decided to leave. He will be missed.”
An ITV spokesperson commented: “Contrary to press reports Bill’s decision to leave is not linked to the future of the character of Tracy Barlow. Actress Kate Ford is contracted to Coronation Street until March 2007.”

Only joking doggy. I am open to any scrutiny. :)
Shame to sse him go as he is one of Corrie's good characters with potential. However his storylines are becoming a bit repetitive, having said that though Tracy and Charlie are a good match for one another.
At this rate there is going to be no one left. Wonder if this has anything to do with the "rumoured" pay cuts...

well it wasn't as if he was the type of character you could imagine staying in the show for 10 years. i agree his storylines are a bit repetitive, hopefully we will find out a bit more about his past etc before he goes, hasn't he got an ex-wife somewhere?

Carnt say I like him very much, I found him to cocky and up himself.
I cant exactly say I like Charlie but he's a good character to have in the soap, adds some drama!

I will miss him, Bill Ward was hottest male on the street and that devilish smile of his.
Does he get killed? If you look the cover of this week's soaplife he says who kills Charlie.
I would prefer he left with the option to return.

according to the sun corries christmas storyline is a who shot JR style storyline.....orginal

For all you avid corrie fans out there.... we have good news.
Nasty builder Charlie Stubbs - the character we all love to hate - is going to be killed off at Christmas.
And it's not going to be just any old boring death, oh no.
The evil so-and-so is to be murdered in a sensational Who Shot JR? Dallas-style plot.
A source said: "A shooting storyline with multiple suspects is a sure-fire ratings winner for a soap.
"The story is a safe bet to get viewers tuning in for the twists and turns.
"Charlie's list of enemies rivals JR from Dallas. The plot will leave viewers hanging on, with the most unlikely characters under suspicion."
The Street's handyman, played by actor Bill Ward, became one of soaps' most hated characters since making barmaid Shelley's life hell last year.
And this week his evil streak shone through once again when he charmed her into sleeping with him.
Nasty man. Roll on Christmas.
DaVeyWaVey
13-07-2006, 18:20
This Who Shot Jr type story should be brilliant for Charlie's exit! He deserves to go out of Corrie in style....i can't wait for this to happen...and hopefully no papers will leak out who the culprit is, it would be nice if we didn't know until the episode airs where we find out who the culprit is!
It sure will be a great ratings winner, and will be a great rival for Eastenders over Christmas, what with Pauline leaving then as well.
Former Coronation Street star Bill Ward has admitted he is glad that his soap character has 'lived on'.
Ward's Charlie Stubbs was fatally struck with a metal sculpture by Tracy Barlow in 2007 after a domestic abuse storyline. Tracy then spent five years in prison until she was freed after a retrial.
Speaking about references that are still made to the villainous character in the soap, Ward told Metro: "I'm glad Charlie Stubbs has got some sort of notoriety. He was a very nasty piece of work.
"When Corrie mentioned there was going to be an abuse storyline, I wanted to get it as right as I could and I spoke to Women's Aid, who are the national domestic violence charity.
"Now I'm an ambassador for them, trying to raise their profile because one in four women will be in an abusive relationship."
Ward is currently starring in Spice Girls West End musical Viva Forever!, as a character based on Simon Cowell. He admitted that he tuned in to The X Factor for the first time in eight years in preparation for the role.
"I watched The X Factor for the first time for eight years doing research on this and I really enjoyed it. I was surprised.
"I don't think I'd watched it since it was Pop Idol. It's great drama, great entertainment and great television," he added.
"It was a guilty pleasure for me while I was researching this."
