Former Casualty star Tom Chambers is finally making his big return to Soapland, but not in his popular role of Sam Strachan.

Instead, Tom will be jumping across to the Dales, where he's been cast as Leyla Harding's (Roxy Shahidi) new boyfriend Clive who we first heard about when Leyla made her dramatic return to the soap earlier this month.

On her return to Emmerdale, Leyla dropped the bombshell news that she was engaged to a mystery man – and not actually trying to take back her her former lover David Metcalfe, like everyone had thought.

Tom will debut in the soap as mystery man Clive later this month with a report in The Sun teasing that his arrival will cause a bit of drama in the village.

Well, we wouldn't expect anything else, really.

Tom bowed out of Casualty last year, 11 years after the character made his first appearance on Holby City in 2006.

After making his final appearance in Holby in 2008, the actor later reprised his role in a guest appearance on sister show Casualty in 2016, before settling in for a more permanent stay in February 2017 and leaving later that year.

Over the years, Tom has also starred in Waterloo Road and he won the sixth series of Strictly Come Dancing with professional dance partner Camilla Dallerup in 2008 too.
