Emmerdale introduces a new character next week as Jessie Grant's son Ellis makes a dramatic arrival in the village.
Show bosses have cast Mount Pleasant star Asan N'Jie in the role of Ellis, as the ITV soap starts to delve deeper into Jessie's backstory.
Ellis is first introduced as a possible love interest for Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) when they arrange a date.
When Ellis later shows his disloyalty by flirting with some other girls at The Woolpack, protective Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) jumps in to defend Victoria – sparking a nasty fight at the pub.

The brawl only stops when Jessie's boyfriend Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) steps in to break it up, getting himself injured in the process.
Later on, just as Marlon is telling Jessie how he's ended up bruised, he's shocked as Ellis appears again and is revealed to be his girlfriend's son.
As Ellis settles in, he has some big news for his mum – revealing that he's decided against going back to university to do his teacher training.
With Ellis needing a place to stay, Marlon offers him the spare room at his house – but the big question is whether he'll regret this kind offer.

During a moment alone, Ellis later questions Jessie (Sandra Marvin) about her relationship with Marlon – keen to know whether he's aware of their secret.
A nervous Jessie reveals that she'll only tell Marlon if she has to, but what are the pair hiding?

So far I have not taken to Jessie, Billy or Ellis... but I live in hope ...
Emmerdale star Asan N’Jie has been sacked from the soap after a fight with Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards which was caught on video. The footage showed a brawl between the soap stars during the after party, with Malique Thompson-Dwyer having to intervene.

No loss to Emmerdale in my opinion but shame two adults behave in a fashion that one of them loses their job....
Guess they have to change the storyline now to change his scenes already filmed and somehow make him go away the same as Bruno Langley as Todd in Corrie ...

Ellis Chapman will be back in Emmerdale for Christmas… but you might not recognise him.
The character bid a hasty retreat from the village to join mum Jessie Grant (Sandra Marvin) in Dubai last month, after actor Asan N'Jie was abruptly sacked from the ITV soap weeks earlier.
Emmerdale took the drastic action after N'Jie was allegedly involved in a scuffle with Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas at London's Hilton Park Lane Hotel during the TV Choice Awards in September.
It looks like Ellis's time away from the Dales will be short because producers have made the decision to recast the character, with former Doctors star Aaron Anthony taking over the role from Asan N'Jie.
"Emmerdale is a cracking show with a brilliant cast that I'm over the moon to now be a part of," Anthony said today (November 8).
"I know Ellis is a well loved character and I'm looking forward to continuing his journey and all that's in store for him."
Ellis will be returning totally unannounced to the village just as the tension between his dad Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) and half-brother Billy (Jay Kontzle) is reaching a breaking point.
Will Ellis be able to put this fractured family back together in time for Christmas… without mum Jessie around to help heal old wounds this time?
The ITV soap plans to air Aaron Anthony's debut in the role of Ellis Chapman starting in December.

Another idiotic casting for a character nobody cares about
is he with priya now or just business partners?
do we think april's auntie cathy will say ellis who'll reject her did something inappropriate and the village will shun him until billy clears him, april on cathy's side so marlon on her side

Must be ... strange that there are no proper explanation from Emmerdale production as to what happened .. seems all a bit OTT if it was about an accent being mimicked ..
Wonder if they replace him or quickly kill him off now via the fire in the Woolpack or Meena... :hmm:

According to The Sun on Sunday he has has quit from the New Year. The scenes now showing are his last, he was persuaded to see out Christmas. He says he objected to a female Emmerdale's accent being mimicked, although the other two actors deny everything. Seems like something has been blown out of proportion.

Surely an apology and kiss and makeup if that what it was ..these guys have been working together for quite some time now and should know each other quite well so tell those that mock to back off and then get on with things again?!?! Just seems there is a lot more to this than is being let on so far...

Well if it was a mixed race actress that was mimicked, its seems strange that they all seem to still be working. Just the Elis actor that has quit. Weird.

Isabel and Matthew (Victoria and David) had a sudden departure to Portugal in October because of this dispute although it was Today reported in the Metro that Matthew has returned to filming.

Ellis is kidnapped by Cain because Ellis left Belle and Kyle alone in the woods when he got a call from Priya. Ellis is out all night on the moors in the freezing cold. When Al finds out he goes after young Kyle. Is this how Ellis will be written out of Emmerdale?
