hello all, i have a family history of throyid problems and have just been diagnosed as having a really overactive one (where you loose weight and generally go a bit mad). i have to go and see the doc tomorrow and will probably get put on medication to regulate it

my question is does any one know of any home remidies that can help

so far i have totally cut out alcohol (its a depressant nd i dont need any more personality altering factors) and processed food

is there anything else i can do to get myself better

You mean Thyroid? My mate has that and he's only 16. He's been put on Beta Blockers and told not to do any vigorous excersize. Not sure about home remedies though........

yup, apparenty its a lot more common in women, its either overactive (loose weight) or under active (gain weight easily) the bupa website has really good info

My mom has a under active thyroid, when she was diagnosed with it her thyroid was only 2% working which means she was on the verge of dying.
She now has to take thyroid tablets and also anti depressant tablets for the rest of her life, she had depression through her thyroid problem. She can get mood swings sometimes but not that much, she can get very tired easly carying something heavy so i have to help her alot. Its very worring knowing that i could get a under active thyroid when i am older, as far as i know this has not been in the family before.

My mom was gave beta blockers for her thyroid problem before but she would not take them because of the side effects they gave
