How long have you watched the show?
Was just adding a poll hunni :D
I've watched since day one and have collected 99% of the episodes with the exception of an odd few (mainly from the Louise Berridge era).

So you were six when Sharongate came out?
That's an amazing memory. I can only remember a decade ago if I struggle I'm a useless rememberer.
You didn't have to vote other on the poll though you could have voted 10-15 years because you've been watching for 11.
(Think I've got that right assuming you really started watching when Sharongate came out)

as i say technically 16 years, but mentally probably 11 years as you say
wish id been able to see the orginal episodes...if only uk gold would go back to the start again
i watched since about 2000 thats what i can remember properly and when i was officially addicted. I watched it on and off before.
Prob on and off for about 15 years or so.

Technically you didn't watch for sixteen years though because watching means gaining mental stimulation and knowing what the programme is about.
Prob on and off for about 15 years or so.
I don't know how anybody who is old enough hasn't watched for the full caboodle lol. It's really shaped the industry like no other programme has before except maybe Brookside.
I voted other because its over 20 years, I have watch it from day 1,and have never missed a episode. perfered the early days, when it was more eastend, known by the true eastenders, in the things they did. having songs around the piano, women sitting around in there hosues having cups of tea.lots of gossiping, :rotfl:

Well technically I've watched it longer than the 20 years myself.
I can remember the Dot/Ethel 2 hander from Thursday 2nd July 1987 when they were babysitting Vicki. That was legendary and also showed that they did have normal conversations well relatively.
I want Ethels frock/hat in this pic I bet I'll look like a right diva battleaxe in such a sexy cozzy and that oven is just the bizz! :

You must be eastenders biggest fan.

I wouldn't go that far. I've just watched since day one and studied the programme in great depth over the years.
I have MOST of the episodes. They're everywhere! Now it's on four times a week it's even harder to collect them but I didn't bother as much in 2004 because a lot of the episodes were boring ones.

Yeah! That's the one. It was fantastic. I have both the episodes. The one where it all starts and the one where Grant finds out and plays the tape to a packed Queen Vic at Phil and Kathy's engagement party.

I thought sharongate was ee finest moment absoutley brillaint stuff when grant put the tape on for the whole pub to hear it was corker
i think i have seen clips on eastenders revealed or a program like that.
No you can't beat anything to do with the legend that was Ethel Skinner.
ethel skinner was great. The episide was so moving when she died.
I can remember when Donna died and Junior told Dot who had sold her the drugs she overdosed on so Dot roped Wicksy into a plan to catch the drug pusher in the Queen Vic toilets and they did but the drugs pusher got away and later came to the laundrette to threaten Dot.

by the way how do i delete the messages because i keep sending them twice sorry ?
I didn't always collect them because I had no idea the show would be so big but I've spent atleast a grand on tapes/DVD's since and I've been recording since 1996. I've got atleast 3500 episodes roughly and there's only been 3800 odd I think.
A mod has to do it.
Well chocolate has just done a double.
It keeps happening to me too but for some reason I can delete my own!

i put 5-10 as i think i started watching in 2000
I wish UKTV Gold would go back to the beginning not for me because I have most of it but for the younger viewers who need to know how out of this world it really was. Amazingly dark and gritty.

Yeah, it's changed so much, some of the better, but i miss some of the old character.
i started watching since 1997 when i was 10 years old. so i have been watching my fav soap for like 8 years now. and i can say that i have not missed many episode since then. if i went on holiday then i would record it. but i did miss some last summer(louise berridge era) coz i just could not be botherd to watch zonnis on screen.
ergh tell me about it! i hated zonnis, now hate is a strong word but i felt that strong about them. i didnt want to watch them either particularly but i still stayed tuned cos easties is my religion :D
I think you have to remain a loyal fan after so many years really. I will always support it.
lol tell me about. i still watched it though when zonnis was on screen, painful and cringeful as it may be. but could not bear to watch the one where dennis asked zoe to move in him.( i did watch it though with a cushion over my eyes) i mean how could he do that! i hated dennis for a while after that. i agree 'HATE' is a strong word but i actually did hate zonnis with a passion! i know many ppl did give up ee last year but i always stayed loyal to it. EE is the only british soap i watch and have been since 1997. corrie and emmerdale just bores me to death.
I cannot be doing with KingDale and Shellanation Street. Big improvements need to be made to entice me back into the fold :D

I've been watching Eastenders religiously for the last 3 or 4 years. I would consider myself as a 'fan' for the last 3 or 4 years but generally I used to watch it every night for as long as I can remember! It's always been sort of like 'family sit down' time in my house! :D
lol. okay maybe i was going a bit over the top, but the truth is i do actually find emmerdale boring. you might think i'm a bit obsessed with the word 'boring' but i'm not.lol
i've been watching for about 5 months-started after comic relief f/a thought kim should have won so i'm kinda hooked now lol.

I find it boring too! I think the problem is that I don't relate to it at all...all those sheep! Maybe I'd like it more if I lived on a farm?
.:Kitz:.
11-07-2005, 16:19
i think coz my mum was fan, i've always watched it.....but i'm not sure how much of it sunk in, lol
i watch EE because i think it has some realism in it. Living on a farm is nothing like how it is portyayed in Emmerdale.
The BBC should do a re-run for those who have just started to watch recently.
Jessie Wallace

They do on sky, you will just have to wait til they start again.
They won't be going back to the beginning. Many of us have e-mailed UKTV Gold about it.
Are the ones on UKTV gold in order, or are they random.

Divvy more like :lol:LOL!
I've watched EE since the first episode. It seemed a lot more exciting in those day with Den, Angie, Pauline, Arthur,Lou, Pete and Kathy etc. Even though there was a good range in ages with the different characters, from babies to grannies, they all seemed to be equally involved in the episodes. Stories didn't seem to DRAG ON the way they do now. The thing I hate most is the way the characters seem to completely change personality, especially when the writer are looking for a way to write them out ! Look at Sam, Kat, Alfie and Little Mo ? None of these seem as convincing since they completely changed behaviour and character. I ask you, would Little Mo really even consider her sister's husband ! :searchme:
Divvy more like

I watched it when it was first aired on Dutch television in 1986, they showed it from the start. I finished after the Dutch t,v, ended it in probably 1987. An started again in januari 2000 and unfortunataly missed the 2004 christmass epi due to hollidays.

Dr. Tangliss
05-08-2005, 09:24
I remember Lou sitting in her chair whinging at Pauline and Arther.
I remember the ongoing saga of Michelle and Lofty with their wedding etc, him and his asthma, bless. And I remember the original Mark, David Scarborough wasn't it. I remember thinking how weird it was when he changed to Todd Carty and reading in the papers about his death etc
Dr. Tangliss
05-08-2005, 09:27
I remember all that too.
Awwwww, poor lofty, I really felt for him in the end.
Didn't Michelle terminate a pregnancy with Lofty aswell - I remember that it was a massive thing to be dealt with by a soap back then too. I felt sorry for him aswell, especially with the Vicki situation and Den etc.
Dr. Tangliss
05-08-2005, 09:35
Yes, she did! I think it was the first time for a soap to show such a storyline too. Awww, Lofty, I wonder what he does now?
What was his name - Tom Watt or something wasn't it. Haven't heard anything really since he left Easties....He was a bit of a drip in it though wasn't he. But I remember just before they split when he was saying that he loved Vicky and would accept her as his own etc, after everything was revealed. Mind you I remember Vicky's arrival aswell. Its starting to make me feel really old!!
Do you remember Oz Cabs!!??
Dr. Tangliss
05-08-2005, 10:24
Yes, I remember Oz cabs!!!! Wow! I remember Ali and, oh I forgotten her name, the punk with the baby.
Mary the punk!
And the Taverniers - Michelle Gayle played one of them didn't she?! And Clyde went out with Michelle for a bit, he was a boxer or something like that.
This is all bringing back memories!!

It is, isn't it!
I remember when Ian, Sharon, Michelle were all going to school together.

Dr. Tangliss
05-08-2005, 10:40
Yes, I think so. He has been bullied all his life really.
I feel for him - admittedly I am an Ian fan though!!
Dr. Tangliss

Me too, I like Ian, even though he can be a rat sometimes.
Yeah, though his past explains a lot really doesn't it - Pete dying, mother getting raped, marrying Phil, disappearing to South Africa, Cindy's affairs, getting shot - poor bloke hasn't had much luck in life really has he.....
Dr. Tangliss
05-08-2005, 11:12
When you look at it like that, my word, he has had it hard!!! I am just glad he has found, Jane, and hope it works out for them this time!
Me too, they both deserve a bit of happiness really don't they....
Dr. Tangliss

He retired in 1999 I think it was and then he appeared in 2000 when Ethel was dying of cancer and then he appeared for Mark's funeral in 2004 but that was the last we saw of him. He may crop up again because Leonard Fenton who played him is still with us :)
