EastEnders has confirmed that Halfway will be hiding a secret when he returns to Albert Square later this month.

Halfway makes a surprise reappearance in Walford in a week's time – much to the delight of Whitney Carter (Shona McGarty), who's been keeping in touch with her love interest via video chats during his time away in the army.

When Halfway arrives back, Whitney takes him straight over to the Queen Vic to celebrate with the Carters – and they're all keen to thank the man who helped them to save the pub a few weeks ago.

Despite the jovial atmosphere, Whitney soon notices that Halfway's mind seems to be elsewhere. What is he hiding and does it relate to his recent time away?

EastEnders bosses announced last month that they'd decided to bring back Tony Clay as Halfway following a positive response to his initial stint in the show.

Speaking at the time, Tony revealed: "I'm really happy and excited to be back on EastEnders and working with such a brilliant cast and crew. Halfway is such a lovely role to play and I'm really looking forward to exploring his story further and seeing where it takes us."

Monday

Halfway makes a surprise return to Walford and makes up a cover story in front of Whitney and the Carters when they notice that he's injured. Halfway gets a warm welcome from everyone, with Mick and Linda even offering him Shirley's room at the pub so he has somewhere to stay.

Later on, Whitney tries to seduce Halfway but notices that he's not his usual self. What is Halfway hiding?

Meanwhile, Phil decides it's time to concentrate his efforts on becoming a successful business owner again. When he finds out that the car lot has reopened, he assumes that Jay is responsible but gets a shock when he realises that it's Max.

Elsewhere, Sharon helps out Keanu with a rude customer at The Arches and decides to teach the man a lesson when he's difficult with her too.


Tuesday

Max turns down a cash bribe from Phil, who wants him to leave the Square. Phil's mood worsens when Henry – the rude customer from yesterday – confronts him over Sharon's antics.

Phil is also unhappy with Keanu for messing up the books while he was away, so he gives him a one-day deadline to prove himself at The Arches or get sacked. Sharon and Keanu decide to team up to solve their respective problems with Phil and get back in his good books, but will it work?

Meanwhile, Halfway tries to explain his secretive behaviour to Whitney. However, Whitney is later shocked when she discovers the full truth.

Elsewhere, Kim starts to wonder if Phil knows something about Vincent's disappearance when he gives her cash out of guilt.


Thursday

Billy's birthday gets off to a bad start when Mel angrily confronts him for messing up at work. Seemingly regretting being so harsh, Mel shows a softer side by deciding to organise a surprise birthday party for him. Mel even tries to get Honey to come along, but Billy is furious with her for interfering and gives her a piece of his mind.

Later on, Mel and Jack bicker after the day's events but end up tearing each other's clothes off. Billy also tries his luck with Honey when they spend the evening with the kids, but is she interested in a reunion?

Meanwhile, Kush has surprising news to share as he returns from Dubai, but he holds off from revealing it when he finds out about Vincent leaving Kim. However, Denise is furious when she hears the news from Carmel instead.

Elsewhere, the feud between Max and Phil continues as Sharon and Keanu get involved.

Also today, Woody is jealous of Whitney and Halfway.


Friday

Halfway is centre of attention at the Queen Vic following the week's revelations.

Later on, Halfway's eventful week continues when he discovers that the Carters are throwing him a party with a surprise guest.

Meanwhile, Hunter discovers that Mel and Jack have spent the night together, despite her attempts to keep it a secret.

Elsewhere, when Donna wants information on her brother's whereabouts, Kim finally admits that Vincent left her.

As they continue to sleep rough in Maximum Motors, Rainie (Tanya Franks) grows fed up with being homeless and looks for an alternative solution.

Seizing an opportunity, Rainie steals the keys for the Hubbard house so they can sneakily move in. But how long can they really go unnoticed for?
