Home and Away has cast Packed to the Rafters star Angus McLaren as Robbo's old friend Lance Salisbury.

The actor, best known for playing Nathan Rafter in the TV series, will be making his debut on Aussie screens next week when Robbo is reunited with a blast from the past.

Robbo will get the answers he has been searching for when he comes face to face with his old friend Lance at an abandoned warehouse – but fans will have to wait and see how the rest of the story unravels.

Speaking about his character, Angus told TV Week: "He's a federal agent who was best friends with Robbo [Jake Ryan].

"Lance is intricately tied in with Robbo's circumstances, and the mystery slowly gets unpacked. He used to know Robbo well and wants him to see justice.

"[But] with the shady world [Robbo] lives in, he fears he may never see daylight again. The stakes are really high.

"It's great to work alongside Jake. He's an incredibly talented actor."

Angus's role on Home and Away also means that he is reunited with his former Packed to the Rafters co-star James Stewart – who now plays Summer Bay's Justin Morgan.

"This was a bonus. We hadn't seen each other in a long time. We actually film in the same corridors as Rafters – we were in the studios next door."

Packed to the Rafters star Angus McLaren joins Home and Away, reuniting with James Stewart.

FANS tuning into Home and Away tonight may be forgiven for thinking they’ve stumbled on a rerun of Packed to the Rafters, with former cast member Angus McLaren joining the bay.

McLaren has a six week guest stint on the Channel 7 drama, which sees him reunite with former Packed to the Rafters star Jimmy Stewart.

“I bumped into Jimmy on the first day on set and it felt like old times,” McLaren, who places federal police officer Lance told Confidential.

McLaren and Stewart first appeared together on the popular Australian drama back in 2009. Despite it establishing both actors as household names, McLaren told Confidential he went back to acting school after the show. He did a three year course at Perth’s prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

He said appearing on Home and Away was “like a bucket list item.”

“Meeting Irene in the diner felt like I was having a dream,” he said.

He will also star in the upcoming film, Hotel Mumbai, starring Dev Patel and Armie Hammer.
