Neighbours is lining up a shock hit and run storyline in its unmissable late-night special next month.

The Aussie soap is treating fans to another 10pm screening on Monday, February 12 – but this time we can expect double the drama as it will be on for a full 60 minutes.

The hour-long episode will see the debut of Ryan Thomas's character Rafael and the return of homewrecker Izzy Hoyland, along with an array of other familiar faces.

However, one of the biggest talking points of the episode will involve a dramatic hit and run incident, which could leave one character's life hanging in the balance.

The special – which was directed by former Neighbours star Scott Major – has been titled 'Hit and Run' to coincide with the explosive plot, and will pave the way for a huge week of twists and surprises.

Channel 5's Commissioning Editor of Factual Entertainment Greg Barnett added: "If you're a fan of Neighbours then you cannot afford to miss this special 10pm episode as, for the first time ever, it will be a brand new hour of spectacular drama.

"Who gets run over, who runs for their life and whose life ends up hanging by a thread…? All will be revealed in this nail-biting episode."

Neighbours' Executive Producer Jason Herbison added: "As well as Izzy Hoyland's explosive return, the special launches a gamut of exciting new stories involving all our current cast, some looking very different.

"Plus, a number of past characters will be dropping in and, of course, we're delighted to have Ryan Thomas as part of the drama.

"'Hit and Run' kicks off a week of surprises, intrigue, desperation and of course romance, and there is more to come in the coming months."

Monday 12th Feb

Monday 12th Feb

Hour-long late night special 10pm UK

As momentous and life-changing events rock the residents of Ramsay Street, old friends return to help Toadie celebrate his 21st and a familiar face from Coronation Street makes his Neighbours debut.

The action-packed episode begins on the night before Tyler's trial. Instead of going to Toadie's party, Piper surprises Tyler by booking a room for them in a city hotel, then persuades him that they should go on the run. It means leaving behind all they hold dear, but they feel they have no other choice.

However, the next morning they are spotted and reported to the police by someone who believes they have Piper's best interests at heart. A desperate rooftop escape bid ensues, culminating in a nail-biting cliffhanger as the police close in, with one young life hanging by the fingertips.

One of Neighbours' most controversial characters also returns with a bang in this special to drive another wedge between Karl and Susan. Izzy Hoyland, who was last seen in 2007, nearly destroyed their marriage last time when she claimed to be pregnant with Karl's baby.

Izzy has her sights set firmly on Karl again, and there is an explosive clash between her and Susan right from the start. Things are not great between the doctor and his wife at the moment, and Izzy has a secret that could give Karl his heart's desire – and hers.

Another Ramsay Street resident who has a history with Izzy is Paul, but trouble may also be brewing for him from another quarter. A mysterious stranger seems very interested in him at the party, and later breaks into Paul's apartment.

However, this new face will be no stranger to viewers. He is Ryan Thomas, aka Jason Grimshaw from Coronation Street, who is joining the show's cast as Rafael Humphreys, an English tourist with a score to settle.

Elsewhere, trouble is brewing for Paige as a moment of madness with Jack leaves her full of guilt and torn between her feelings for Mark and the father of her child, which looks set to have heartbreaking consequences.

Meanwhile, Toadie's belated 21st birthday party with its retro 1990s theme is a fantastic success. Stu Parker (Blair McDonough), Lance Wilkinson (Andrew Biddy) and Stonie Rebecchi (Anthony Engleman) are among the former residents who have returned to help him celebrate, but there is a sting in the tail when Sindi Watts (Marrisa Warrington) shows up with the news that Andrea is back in town.

This episode was directed by yet another returning former Neighbours cast member – Scott Major, who played Lucas Fitzgerald.

Tuesday 13th Feb

Piper's life hangs by a thread before the police rescue her and arrest Tyler, who is immediately jailed. He pleads guilty at his trial and is sentenced to 20 years.

Izzy donates $5m to the hospital wing but demands it be named after Karl, leaving Paul frustrated and Susan suspicious.

Paige and Jack agree to keep their assignation secret.

Wednesday 14th Feb

Everyone is devastated over Tyler's sentence and tries to keep Piper positive, but when she visits Tyler in prison, he breaks up with her.

Izzy's offer generates tension between Karl and Susan, who suspects Izzy of an ulterior motive.

Elly and Amy spend Valentine's Day together and agree on their goals for the future.

Sheila recruits Rafael as a barman.

Thursday15th Feb

Piper accuses Xanthe of informing the police about her and Tyler's escape plan. Xanthe admits to it, refusing to let Terese set the record straight – Piper needs her mum right now.

Ben meets and bonds with Stu, an old friend of his father's, and is delighted when he is invited to visit him in Oakley.

Amy tries to get rid of Jayden, but her tactics backfire.

Friday 16th Feb

Paige's resolve to keep a distance from Jack suffers a setback when she wins a glamping trip in the raffle. She and Mark arrive at the camp to find fellow winners Jack and Steph already there.

Leo is evasive when Mishti starts asking questions about Jayden's employment.

Dipi has an idea to help Sheila to move on from her memories of Hamish.

And coming soon…

Four lives are changed as secrets emerge.

Ben receives a surprising gift.

Rafael reveals why he is in Erinsborough.

Sheila and Clive rekindle their relationship.

Amy is out of her depth on the romance front.

Neighbours reveals who newcomer Rafael Humphreys will target for revenge

Neighbours has revealed that Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas will have a huge storyline with Paul Robinson.

The popular soap star recently filmed a guest stint in the role of Rafael Humphreys, an English tourist who arrives in Erinsborough with a score to settle.

It's now been revealed that Paul (Stefan Dennis) will be the character that Rafael has in his sights when he turns up on Ramsay Street, hiding some nasty scars on his back.

Rafael makes his first appearance in Neighbours' upcoming 10pm special, which also features the much-anticipated return of Izzy Hoyland.

http://digitalspyuk.cdnds.net/18/04/768x512/gallery-1516626308-soaps-neighbours-ryan-thomas-rafael-2.jpg

Channel 5 has today (January 29) released the synopsis for the huge episode, offering some tantalising clues on what to expect from Izzy and Rafael's storylines.

The teaser reads: "One of Neighbours' most controversial characters returns with a bang in this special to drive another wedge between Karl and Susan. Izzy Hoyland, who was last seen in 2007, nearly destroyed their marriage last time when she claimed to be pregnant with Karl's baby.

"Izzy has her sights set firmly on Karl again, and there is an explosive clash between her and Susan right from the start. Things are not great between the doctor and his wife at the moment, and Izzy has a secret that could give Karl his heart's desire – and hers.

"Another Ramsay Street resident who has a history with Izzy is Paul, but trouble may also be brewing for him from another quarter. A mysterious stranger seems very interested in him at the party, and later breaks into Paul's apartment.

"However, this new face will be no stranger to viewers. He is Ryan Thomas, aka Jason Grimshaw from Coronation Street, who is joining the show's cast as Rafael Humphreys, an English tourist with a score to settle."

Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison had recently promised a huge new storyline for Paul, which will see him forced to confront his past.

Jason told Inside Soap last month: "Paul has a colourful past, and there are some interesting chapters that remain unexplored.

"It's a goldmine for storytelling. Paul will be challenged by the arrival of a person who has a cross to bear, and Paul will be forced to revisit a period he thought was long forgotten."

Neighbours airs its special late-night episode on Monday, February 12 at 10pm on Channel 5.

Neighbours has teased a cheating twist for Paige Smith and Jack Callahan in the show's upcoming late-night episode.

The former lovers have been brought closer ever since their baby son Gabe was kidnapped in last month's dramatic season finale episode.

Fans should now brace themselves for the story stepping up a gear in next month's 10pm special, which sees a number of major plotlines come to a head in spectacular style.

It's been confirmed that Paige and Jack will give into temptation in the episode, betraying their respective partners Mark Brennan and Steph Scully. But how far will things go?

Channel 5's official synopsis for the episode confirmed: "Trouble is brewing for Paige as a moment of madness with Jack leaves her full of guilt and torn between her feelings for Mark and the father of her child, which looks set to have heartbreaking consequences."

Will Mark and Steph find out what happened in the aftermath?

One thing we know for certain is that Paige will only be staying on our screens for a few more weeks, as Olympia Valance filmed her final scenes in the role last month.

Whether Paige and Jack's "moment of madness" plays a role in her exit from Erinsborough remains to be seen, but it seems there won't be a happy ending for her and Mark either way.

Neighbours airs its special late-night episode on Monday, February 12 at 10pm on Channel 5.

Digital Spy article with new promo for the late-night special:

Neighbours teases Fake Dee twist and Izzy Hoyland's return in an unmissable new promo
Here's our first look at the late-night special.

http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/news/a849083/neighbours-spoilers-fake-dee-izzy-promo/

Neighbours has revealed a first look at the show's unmissable late-night special in a dramatic Channel 5 promo – promising five shock storylines that will keep fans gripped.

Digital Spy readers can get an exclusive first look at the 60-second trailer right here – and it's jam-packed full of tantalising teasers for what's ahead.

Most exciting for old-school fans will no doubt be the highly-anticipated return of Natalie Bassingthwaighte as Izzy Hoyland, who's heading back with a mysterious secret that looks set to rock Karl and Susan Kennedy.

Having already torn the popular couple apart once before, could Izzy be about to do it all over again?

Paige Smith and Jack Callahan are also revealed as forbidden lovers as their romantic connection is re-explored, which is sure to cause heartbreak for their respective partners Mark Brennan and Steph Scully.

The Fake Dee Bliss saga also seems to be far from over, as we see Toadie Rebecchi left with a dilemma when Sindi Watts returns to Erinsborough and gives him Andrea Somers's phone number.

The official promo teases Andrea as 'the one that got away'. With his wife Sonya currently taking a break from Erinsborough, could Toadie be tempted to settle old scores with the woman who conned him?

Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas is also seen making his debut as British backpacker Rafael Humphreys, who seems to have a score to settle with Paul Robinson.

Rafael is seen paying a sinister late-night visit to Paul, leaving us to wonder whether the life of Erinsborough's original bad boy is in danger.

Tyler Brennan and Piper Willis are also seen resorting to desperate measures in order to stay together, culminating in a hair-raising rooftop scene.

With Tyler still in trouble with the law, the popular couple are seen risking their lives – could the 'Typer' story be set for a devastating ending?

Neighbours airs its huge late-night special on Monday, February 12 at 10pm on Channel 5.

British fans are even getting the huge episode ahead of Australia as a one-off treat, so it's definitely one to watch live to see all of the huge twists and turns in store.

Runaway Lovers

A Desperate Tyler Skips Court And Makes Tracks With Piper.

He should be preparing to face court for murder. But this week in Neighbours, Tyler decides to flee town with his girlfriend, Piper.

The young lovers have been distraught at the thought of being separated if Tyler (Travis Burns) goes to jail.

So the night before the trial is due to start, Piper (Mavournee Hazel) and Tyler shack up in a hotel. It's Piper who suggests they go on the run.

"Initially, he thinks it's crazy, but all he wants is to be with Piper," Travis, 26, tells TV WEEK. "He trusts her with his and decides to go ahead with it."

The plan follows months of heartbreak and turmoil for the couple after Hamish entered their lives.

Hamish was Tyler's biological father, but he manipulated his new-found son by driving a wedge between him and his lived ones.

Once Tyler realized what his father was up to, he confronted him in the Canning family's backyard.

When Hamish admitted to his devious scheme, an angry Tyler impulsively struck him with a garden gnome.

The next day, Hamish was found dead. Realising the blow must have killed him, Tyler handed himself in to police. Just weeks ago, his charges were upgraded from manslaughter to murder.

Tyler will almost certainly go to jail if he doesn't flee now. But going on the run will force the pair to leave their families behind. Terrified but resolute, Piper and Tyler start changing their appearances.

The next day, the pair attempt to leave the hotel. But, suddenly, police start swarming the building! Now, their only option is to sprint upstairs. But once on the roof, there's nowhere to go...

A panicked Tyler realizes he can jump to the neighbouring building. He pleads with Piper to stay behind and live her life, before hurling himself onto the next roof.

But Piper, distressed and afraid, refuses to live without her man. She decides to attempt to leap herself...

Despite a gutsy effort, Piper doesn't quite reach the building and she's left hanging over the edge!

Tyler is desperate to rescue her.

"Piper is number one," Travis says. "He would never compromise her safety over his freedom."

But can Tyler save Piper and still make a run for it?

[Trivia Time: Travis is a skilled open-water diver. He specializes in underwater photography, navigational diving and rescue diving.]

Trouble Whammy.

Look Out - Bad Girl Izzy Is Back In Erinsborough.

She was Ramsay Street's most notorious homewrecker - and now Izzy is back! And the husband-stealer wastes no time stirring things up.

In true Izzy (Natalie Bassingthwaghte) style, her dramatic arrival leaves her lying on the ground like a damsel in distress.

"Izzy likes to make an entrance," Natalie, 42, grins. "And this return is no exception. If you loved to hate her before, you'll love to hate even more now."

It's the kind of moment Izzy knows how to exploit. So will she get Karl's (Alan Fletcher) attention?

"Karl is a bit of a sucker where Izzy's concerned," Alan, 60, admits. "He always likes to think there's a possibility that she's reformed."

The good doctor will have to tread carefully, because any interest he shows in tending to Izzy will surely have wife Susan (Jackie Woodburne) fuming.

Fans will recall Izzy destroyed Karl and Susan's marriage, and later gave birth to Karl's daughter, Holly (Lucinda Armstrong Hall).

Meanwhile, tension is building between Karl and Susan just as Izzy shows up. This will create the perfect storm for her to unleash whatever she's planning.

So why is Izzy back in town? And what - or who - does she want?

It all goes down the night of Toadie's (Ryan Moloney) belated 21st birthday party, which he won in Lassiters' promotion. Erinsborough's locals are all in attendance, glammed up in their '90s-themed fancy-dress costumes and ready to party.

Even Toadie's old mates Stu (Blair McDonough) and Lance (Andrew Bibby) return to Erinsborough for it.

But, in true soap fashion, what should be a night of fun leads to chaos for many Neighbours favourites.

Not Her!

Will Andrea Make A Shock Return?

Toadie is having a blast at his birthday bash. That is, until he hears news about conwoman Andrea.

Andrea (Madeleine West) devastated Toadie by cruelly pretending to be his late wife, Dee.

Her name crops up in a speech by Stu. That's because his ex-wife, Sindi (Marisa Warrington), has been in recent contact with Andrea.

Sindi's been hounding Stu to pass on the information. The poor bloke is so frustrated, he blurts out Andrea's name at the party.

How will Toadie react to the revelation? Could Andrea be headed back to town?

Steamy Hook-Up.

Jack And Paige Share A Hot Night Together.

After months of fighting their feelings, Paige and Jack give in to temptation this week in Neighbours.

Paige (Olympia Valance) and Jack (Andrew Morley) felt their love for each other return when their baby boy, Gabe, was kidnapped.

"Jack was there at the right time to provide support," Andrew, 28, says. "That reinforced what they used to have and what is still there."

The sexual tension continues to simmer on the night of Toadie's party. Paige is enjoying the event, but worries when Jack doesn't update her about Gabe via text.

She goes to check on the boys and ends up staying at Jack's. As they watch Gabe in his crib, they marvel over their love for the bub.

It's not long before their chemistry takes over.

"They share this love for Gabe, and everything was feeling right," Andrew says.

Paige and Jack kiss - and end up in bed.

Will they get back together?

Rafael blames him for the lack of health and safety standards contributing to his mother’s death.

Having just had the late night episode that we were all looking forward too, I have to make a comment about Pipers wig? The whole point of a disguise is that you don't look like what you are, when she put the wig on she looked the same! In fact even more like her mother! Now take Shelia I didn't realise that was her dressed up as Austin powers because of her wig and cloths, even Paige in the Black wig looked good, she could have dyed it blonde as they were in the hotel so long, she may have planned getting the £10000 but I would have got as far away as I could the night before, one has to ask who thought it up?

Disappointed with Ty ending up in jail .... I think the story line was a bit of a cop out as there was so much to explore. I personally don't think his actions was Hamish demise. I know it was Tys way out for a new life outside Ramsay street.... but i would rather have seen piper locked up for incessant whinging and bad choices that helped bring Tyler down. The best bit was he came to his senses to dump her .... in love or not ....

I do hope they revisit the storyline one day and get him out of jail, even if it's without his on screen presence and he says "Pipe off" to the eternal whinge :angry: forever ...

I like her but Piper is a bit of a drama queen. Was also a stupid thing to try and make the same jump Tyler just made. But she is 17 and emotional - Tyler as the adult should have stuck to his guns knowing it was a very bad idea.
