During an early morning swim, Derek and Eugene discuss the other housemates.

Talking about what they have seen as a change in Maxwell, Eugene claimed: "He's being up for eviction that's what."

"He might go back to his old ways if he doesn't go, is that what you're saying basically?" Derek enquired.

"Apart from being a practical joker he's not as bad as I thought he would be," admitted Eugene.

Analysing the events in the house Derek told Eugene: "Several things have happened haven't they? The character has had a slight change. You two arrived..."

"Saskia's gone," Eugene added.

"You're non argumentative and you don't drink alcohol," continued Derek. "She [Orlaith] isn't argumentative either is she?"

Eugene pondered: "Well I don't know."

"Well she's done a pretty good job at covering it up," the Tory announced. "She's an operator, what you call an operator."

Wondering what Derek meant, Eugene offered his interpretation resulting in Derek offering his full analysis of Orlaith: "I think what I mean by an operator is she's cannily trying to suss out the alliances and trying to make her position strong everywhere. For example she does what she knows the boys like and she flirts, she makes them tea she brings them sandwiches. All those things and keeps very closely aligned with Makosi."

Eugene asked Derek: "Do you get on better with Anthony? You suddenly started talking to him."

Explaining his decision to start talking to Anthony, Derek continued: "Do you remember he had his outburst against me? And he said something like for the last five weeks I've felt you've hated me. And I suddenly thought I don't want anybody to think I really hate them and I know him to be a really sensitive person because he's so vain, and I thought oh my gosh I've been making this little boy's life hell. So I thought well I'm not going to forgive him and I'm not going to hate him"

On Science, Derek offered: "He's really sly. I think he's got remedial problems."
