The truth about Connie's illness is out, following her dramatic collapse while at work. As she recovers, she is devastated to hear that her colleagues are aware of her terminal diagnosis. Worse still is the news that her tumour has grown, and complications now mean that her consultant refuses to operate. Discharging herself, Connie persuades Ethan to drive her to London for a second opinion, but when she loses consciousness en route and is rushed into emergency surgery, her put-upon protege faces an agonising wait for news. Meanwhile, back at the ED, Dylan struggles to hold the fort, in the absence of more experienced hands.

Casualty star George Rainsford has teased the show's big London episode this weekend that will see Connie Beauchamp and Ethan Hardy head to the capital.

Connie will take matters into her own hands after learning that her cardiac tumour has grown, but the medics are refusing to operate through fear of further complications.

After persuading Ethan to drive her to London to get a second opinion, the pair's bond intensifies – until Connie misreads the signals and tries to kiss him.

But there are more pressing matters to worry about following the awkward moment as Connie is soon rushed into emergency surgery – leaving Ethan with an agonising wait to see if she pulls through.

Fans will have to tune in to find out if Connie's operation is a success, but Casualty has released an exciting teaser video of what's in store.

Discussing the storyline, George – who plays Ethan – said: "This episode takes us to London because Connie needs help which only someone in London can help with. Connie and Ethan have formed this special bond and they go on this road trip together.

"There are a few twists along the way. It's not an easy ride for the two of them. All I can say is that there is a lot more in store for both of them."

Casualty airs these scenes on Saturday, January 6 at 8.30pm on BBC One.
