Home and Away legend Alf Stewart looks set to have his whole world turned upside-down when his troublesome grandson Ryder arrives in Summer Bay.

Ryder, played by show newcomer Lucas Radovich, makes his debut on Australian screens this week and appears on Channel 5 in the UK from mid-November.

The new arrival is the wayward son of Alf's daughter Quinn Jackson. Don't worry too much if you're scratching your head a little when it comes to Quinn, as she hasn't been seen in Summer Bay since 1995.

Ryder is joining Home and Away with a bang, as his first storyline sees him break into the Surf Club to steal soda.

Although it's hardly the biggest crime to have ever rocked Summer Bay, it still gets reported to the police and Alf is hopeful that the mystery culprit can be found.

Later on, Ryder strikes again by trying to steal from Hunter King and VJ Patterson, who quickly realise that he must be connected to the Surf Club incident.

Hunter and VJ march Ryder off to Alf to explain himself, but everyone is shocked when he introduces himself as Alf's grandson. None more so than Alf, who has no idea who he is!

Speaking of his character's arrival, Lucas, 22, told Aussie magazine TV Week: "Alf reacts with disbelief. He doesn't understand who Ryder's mother could be."

Even after Ryder explains himself, he refuses to offer up any contact details for Quinn – and Roo Stewart quickly realises that he must be running away from something.

While we'll have to stay tuned to see what's brought Ryder to Summer Bay, it's already been confirmed that this storyline will lead up to a comeback for Quinn too – with actress Lara Cox taking over the role.

TV Week has this article on Lukas Radovich (Ryder):

Cool Hand Lukas.

Meet H&A Rookie Lukas Radovich.

http://nnimgt-a.akamaihd.net/transform/v1/crop/frm/gDsCKgEkcTgTg7ZZhL6wDp/7d212a78-052d-4b8c-8277-7edcb39ee3a9.jpg/r0_0_1640_2461_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

Most jobs are sink or swim when you are starting out.

Fresh out of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Lukas Radovich found himself in unfamiliar territory when he came to Summer Bay.

"This is my first acting job," the 22-year-old tells TV WEEK.

The newbie says the sheer pace of the shooting schedule on Home and Away took some getting used to.

"It was really overwhelming at the beginning," Lukas says of his starting out. "That's just because of the fast turnaround in shooting scenes and scripts you have to learn.

"Just learning the shorthand of that has been challenging, but super-interesting.

"It's always cool to talk to editors and soundies and camera guys and learn as much as I can from them."

Lukas is the first to admit every day in the Bay is a masterclass in acting.

That's because the youngster films many of his scenes with TV veterans - and TV WEEK Gold Logie Award winners - Georgie Parker and Ray Meagher.

"I feel like Georgie and Ray are the people who have made the most impact, and that's partly because I've spent the most time with them," Lukas enthuses.

"They've given me a wealth of knowledge, not just about the show, but the industry."

Ray, especially, has shown Lukas the ropes. In the show, Lukas plays Ryder, the somewhat wild grandson of his character Alf.

"Ray really has given me a helping hand," Lukas says. "He helps with making the script my own. He tells me they are not just words on a page.."

Strewth, that certainly is solid advice from the legend himself. Lukas just has to occasionally pinch himself to make sure he's not dreaming.

"I can't believe I'm working with Alf!" he beams.

Lukas grew up in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, in a multicultural family. His mum's side of the family is Polish and his father is Croatian.

The actor has two older brothers, neither of whom have anything to do with the entertainment industry. Not surprisingly, the family is over the moon to be seeing Lukas on TV.

They must be doing something right at WAAPA - like Lukas, many of the graduates have found work in TV.

Anneliese Apps, who played Beth, was in Lukas' year. As were former Packed To The Rafters star Angus McLaren, Love Child's Sophia Forrest and A Place To Call Home's George Pullar.

And Lukas' housemate is Brittany Santariga, who plays school bully Jennifer in Home and Away.

"It's inspiring to see everyone doing so well," Lukas says.

Proving he's always been career-minded, Lukas worked in a talent agency before heading to acting school.

"I might go back to it," he says. "But acting has always been a strong passion."

As to that question that's on every female fans lips, the answer is yes, Lukas is "happily single". But for how long?

Soap spoilers: Home and Away's Tori and Robbo make a big baby decision, while the River Boys could get a new member

http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/news/a867368/home-and-away-spoilers-tori-robbo-baby-decision/

Elsewhere in Summer Bay, Ryder Jackson could become the next member of the River Boys when he strikes up a surprising friendship with Dean Thompson.

Ryder (Lukas Radovich) befriends Dean when he starts to feel lonely and isolated after breaking up with Coco Astoni.

The split means that Ryder barely spends any time with Coco or Raffy Morrison anymore, leaving him bored as he doesn't have many other friends.

After suffering an embarrassing injury while trying to bench-press at the gym, Ryder turns to Dean (Patrick O'Connor) for someone to talk to about his woes.

Dean also confides in the teen about his own problems, revealing how he never knew his father and has nothing to do with his mother anymore either.

Ryder is intrigued when Dean reveals how the River Boys became his replacement family, enjoying a life of surfing and parties. This sounds pretty good to the impressionable teen, so has a seed been planted in Ryder's mind?

Home and Away airs these scenes on Thursday, October 11 at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5.

Elsewhere in Summer Bay, Ryder Jackson inadvertently puts his friends in danger when they head off on a daring adventure.

Ryder (Lukas Radovich) is intrigued after Dean Thompson tells him about the River Boys' secret hideout, complete with an underground tunnel they always use to outsmart the police.

Keen to check it out, Ryder suggests to Raffy Morrison (Olivia Deeble) and Coco Astoni (Anna Cocquerel) that they should spend a night there – joking that it could be haunted given its dodgy history.

When the teens' sleepover proves surprisingly dull and uneventful, Raffy and Coco take pity on Ryder the next morning – deciding that they should leave the house via the tunnel as a shortcut to make up for the lack of excitement.

Sadly, disaster strikes when they bump into the supporting structure in the darkness, causing the tunnel to collapse on top of them.

As a result, Raffy is left hurt, alone and separated from her two friends on the other side of the rubble and debris. Will she be okay when Dean, Colby Thorne and new cop Chelsea Campbell later come to the rescue?

Home and Away airs these scenes on Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5.

Elsewhere in Summer Bay, concern grows for Ryder Jackson when he turns up drunk at the Morgan house.

Ryder (Lukas Radovich) struggles to cope with his guilt when he learns that his friend Raffy Morrison has been diagnosed with epilepsy, due to the head injury she suffered while in the River Boys' secret tunnel.

Blaming himself for bringing Raffy along to the River Boys' hideout in the first place, Ryder feels terrible and starts hitting the bottle for comfort.

The teen's emotional upset grows even worse when he turns 18 and realises that Alf and Roo have both forgotten all about it, failing to mark the special occasion.

When Ryder turns up at the Morgan house and causes a scene as he's clearly intoxicated, the family call Alf and Roo to deal with the situation.

Once Alf and Roo arrive to confront Ryder, they question where he got the alcohol, but are baffled when he tells them to figure it out for themselves and storms off.

It's left to Brody to point out that Ryder bought drinks from him at Salt because he's just turned 18. Realising how badly they've let Ryder down, can Alf and Roo make amends with him?

When Ryder catches Jade stealing from Salt for a second time, he's forced to turn her in.

But despite Jade's (Mia Morrissey wrongdoing, Ryder (Lucas Radovich) falls straight back into her charms - and bed - unaware she's set a trap that will land him in jail!

Home and Away's Ryder Jackson left devastated by his father Evan
Evan is determined to leave Summer Bay.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a32968238/home-and-away-spoilers-ryder-jackson-evan-devastated/

Home and Away spoilers follow from Australian-pace episodes, which some UK readers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away's Ryder Jackson has reacted badly to the news that his unwell father Evan Slater wants to leave Summer Bay.

Ryder discovered his dad's intentions in Thursday's Australian episode (June 25), leaving him devastated over the prospect of being torn apart so soon.

Since Evan (Cameron Daddo) made his first appearance in the Bay a few weeks ago, Ryder has been trying to make up for lost time by bonding with his father.

As Evan is suffering from a terminal illness, they both know that their time together will be limited and that every moment is precious.

More recently, Ryder (Lukas Radovich) invited Evan to live at the Stewart house so that he could be more comfortable, especially with his symptoms rapidly worsening.

However, in the latest episode on Australia's Channel 7, Evan had a candid chat with Ryder's aunt Roo (Georgie Parker) and realised that it might be time to leave.

Not wanting Ryder to see his condition deteriorating, Evan decided that it was time to bow out from the Stewart house.

Roo asked Evan whether he'd consider staying around for longer, but was unable to convince him.

Although Ryder had found it difficult to see his dad struggling with his health so much, he also felt unable to accept his decision to move on.

With Ryder so unhappy, will Evan stick to his guns and leave Summer Bay?

Home and Away fans in the UK will see these scenes on Channel 5 next month.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).

Home and Away's Ryder Jackson in violent bust-up with newcomer Theo
The pair clash over Ryder's girlfriend Chloe and Theo's behaviour.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a37751705/home-and-away-ryder-theo-violent-fight/

Home and Away spoilers follow.

Home and Away's Ryder Jackson's dislike of newcomer Theo Poulos boils over this week, as the pair get into a violent fight over Theo's behaviour.

Theo (Matt Evans) made a dramatic entrance to Summer Bay a few weeks ago, being escorted into town by police officer Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright) after being pulled over for speeding.

After revealing himself to be the nephew of Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou), Theo has made himself at home in the Bay ? despite rubbing up several people, including Leah's partner Justin Morgan (James Stewart), the wrong way.

Ever since Theo showed up, Ryder (Lukas Radovich) has been suspicious that the newcomer might have feelings for his girlfriend, Chloe Anderson (Sam Barrett), and their animosity gets more serious when Theo gets involved in Ryder's birthday plans.

In scenes to air this week in Australia, TV Week writes, Theo eagerly agrees to help Chloe plan a surprise 21st birthday party for Ryder. When Chloe admits that she needs a way to get Ryder from the Diner to the nightclub for the party, Theo claims that he has a brilliant idea.

Later on, as Ryder waits outside the Diner, Theo sneaks up behind him, shoves a hood over his head and pushes him into the boot of his car, before driving off. When Ryder arrives at the party, he is absolutely furious about the 'kidnapping' and doesn't see the funny side.

During the party, Ryder sees Chloe and Theo talking and he drowns his sorrows with shots and champagne. Soon enough, a drunk Ryder is smashing glasses and decorations, and he is eventually escorted home by Tane Parata (Ethan Browne).

https://www.instagram.com/p/CUDsjLgts6P/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=0a564ff8-f2ac-40fc-8a35-6e8bf4c8df7c

The next day, furious Ryder confronts Theo about his actions at the party, but Theo makes the situation worse by goading him about spending the night with Chloe.

It isn't long before the pair get into a physical fight, with actor Matt explaining: "Theo takes advantage of Ryder and messes with his relationship, which he doesn't appreciate."

How will Chloe feel when she finds out about Ryder and Theo's fight ? and could it damage her romance with Ryder?

Home and Away's Ryder and Theo to compete over Chloe in new scenes
Will a series of online challenges win Chloe's heart?

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a38051226/home-and-away-ryder-theo-compete-chloe/

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian and UK viewers.

Home and Away's Ryder Jackson and Theo Poulos will soon step up their battle to win Chloe Anderson's heart, as they embark on a series of challenges against each other in an attempt to impress her.

Ever since troublesome Theo (Matt Evans) arrived in Summer Bay to seek solace with his aunt Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou), he's made no secret of the fact that he has his eye on Chloe (Sam Barrett). Suspicious Ryder (Lukas Radovich) let his irritation at Theo get the better of him at his recent surprise birthday party, lashing out and getting so drunk that he had to be escorted home.

After being goaded by Theo the following day about apparently spending the night with Ryder's girlfriend, Ryder became embroiled in a fight with the newcomer. And when Ryder mistakenly thought that Chloe and Theo had slept together, Chloe was deeply upset that Ryder would accuse her of such a thing.

Although Australian fans have now seen the couple go through a sad split, Ryder is determined to get his relationship with Chloe back on track and, according to TV Week, he is about to step up his campaign.

In upcoming scenes, rivals Ryder and Theo will both take part in a series of online challenges in an attempt to impress Chloe.

The first challenge they take on is a chilli-eating contest, but this round doesn't go so well for Ryder. After the tough task causes Ryder to throw up, Theo seizes an opportunity to kiss Chloe ? leaving Theo apparently in the lead when it comes to winning Chloe's affections.

This first battle proves to be a hit and the pair soon move on to a cocktail challenge. Ryder decides to take his revenge on Theo by mixing up a meat and oyster combination for a cocktail, before making use of some superglue to fasten Theo to his chair.

Theo, however, is determined not to lose, so he downs the drink and finds a novel way to escape from the chair he's stuck to, wriggling out of his trousers and completing the challenge in his underwear.

But will Chloe be impressed by either of the boys' efforts, or will she decide that she's better off without Ryder or Theo?

Home and Away star Lukas Radovich opens up over Ryder being buried alive
Ryder and Theo's rivalry could be about to turn deadly.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a38318524/home-and-away-lukas-radovich-talks-ryder-buried-alive/

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian and UK viewers.

Home and Away star Lukas Radovich has spoken out over his character Ryder Jackson's latest trauma, as a prank staged by Ryder and his rival Theo Poulos threatens to go horribly wrong.

Ryder has clashed with newcomer Theo (Matt Evans) ever since Theo first arrived in the Bay, with the pair competing for the affections of Chloe Anderson (Sam Barrett). Their rivalry has led them to battle against each other in a series of online stunt competitions, and the soap's dramatic season finale trailer has teased that they might be about to take things too far.

The pair are seen heading into the wilderness together to embark on their "most epic challenge yet", which involves Ryder being sealed into a coffin and buried underground. But when Theo injures himself and is knocked unconscious, panicked Ryder becomes trapped in the coffin? with nobody else in sight.

Lukas has told Australia's The Daily Telegraph that filming the claustrophobic scenes was a memorable experience, explaining (via The Daily Mail): "I'm not going to say it was traumatic but I'm definitely not going to forget that day."

The actor added that he couldn't help but see the funny side of the terrifying situation, as Ryder appears to have a knack for getting trapped in tight spaces.

"I kind of started to freak out but it was also a bit funny because this is the third time Ryder has been in this sort of situation," he said.

"The first time he was trapped in a tunnel collapse, second he was kidnapped from his 21st and shoved in a car boot. Now there's this coffin, so there seems to be a trend."

But with no details of what happens to Ryder and Theo next, could Ryder be in danger of losing his life in the reckless stunt?

Lukas wouldn't give anything away, but he did say: "Hopefully... it's not the end for Ryder."

Ryder and Theo's predicament isn't the only big story that will move the soap forward into 2022. Chloe is facing her own troubles after the recent arrival of her biological father, Matthew (James Sweeny), with his appearance causing heartache for Chloe's mum, Mia Anderson (Anna Samson).

There's also drama on the way for Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) and Tane Parata (Ethan Browne), as well as an ill Martha Stewart (Belinda Giblin).

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia). Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.

There is nothing official of course, but there is strong speculation around that Lucas/Ryder has filmed his final scenes (& will leave perhaps around May at Aust pace?). This speculation started late last year when Georgie Parker (Roo) posted on-set photos on instagram of what potentially could be a farewell party for Ryder in Summer Bay House, with the room full of balloons & a banner saying 'Bon Voyage'. She also posted another on-set photo of her embracing Lucas/Ryder. So Ryder may finally be off travelling...

Home and Away kicks off exit storyline for Ryder Jackson
He shares news of an exciting opportunity.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a39894438/home-and-away-spoilers-ryder-jackson-exit-storyline/

Home and Away spoilers follow from Tuesday's Australian episode (May 3), which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away aired the start of an exit storyline for Ryder Jackson on Australian screens today (May 3).

Ryder confided in Dean Thompson as he considered whether it was time to leave Summer Bay.

Over the past few weeks, Home and Away's Australian-pace episodes have seen Ryder enjoy the buzz of the illegal gambling nights that Mackenzie Booth has been hosting at Salt.

Ryder has been serving drinks at the events but has developed a new ambition to one day become a casino croupier.

In Tuesday's episode on Channel 7, Ryder told Dean that he'd been speaking to his mum Quinn about the possibility of landing a new job on a cruise ship.

Quinn, who works on cruise ships herself, got back to Ryder with a possible job opening which begins in just a few days' time.

The job would see Ryder continue his work as a drinks mixologist but, as the cruise ship has a casino onboard, there's potential for him to re-train as a croupier in the longer term.

Although the opportunity seemed perfect for Ryder, he expressed fears to Dean that his family would struggle without him ? especially as his grandmother Martha Stewart is seriously ill.

Dean encouraged Ryder by pointing out that his family would just want him to be happy.

Teaser spoilers released for episodes airing in Australia this week have revealed that the story is building up to a farewell party for Ryder.

Lukas Radovich, who played the Salt barman, is thought to have filmed his final scenes late last year. The actor joined Home and Away in 2017.

Last week's Australian episodes featured the departure of Mia Anderson, played by Anna Samson.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.

Home and Away actor Lukas Radovich has given fans his reaction to the news of his character Ryder Jackson's exit from the soap.

In the show's latest episodes in Australia, Ryder had been contemplating whether it was time for him to leave Summer Bay ? and the opportunity soon arose when his mum, Quinn, got him a job as a mixologist on a cruise ship.

There, Ryder, who had been joining Mackenzie Booth to underground gambling nights in previous episodes, would also get the chance to train as a casino croupier ? his new-found ambition.

Thursday's triple bill of episodes (May 5) in Australia featured Ryder's departure. This will air on UK screens on Channel 5 in June.

Radovich has already taken to his Instagram account to share his final goodbyes with his fans.

Posting a photo of him hugging his co-star Courtney Miller as well as a few other stills from his time on set, the actor wrote: "...and thanks for all the fish. What an incredible ride. I can't really express how the last 5 years has felt or impacted my life so I'll keep it short.

"I'll miss the job, but most importantly I'll miss the people."

Radovich went on to give a special mention to the director of his final episodes, Tony Gardiner ? "for directing my final block with empathy" ? as well as the fans for making his time on the show an "unforgettable" experience.
