I think twinkle_eyes means bringing on labour because she did go into a kind of labour a short while ago but it's now stopped.

You do still have 4 weeks to go. I want to hang onto my little girl for as long as I can!

Holding on would be better at least for a couple of weeks, but my main tip that was given to me by a friend was Norfolk Punch. Holland & Barrett sell it and you warm it up like a mulled wine. Its really nice and I tried this after the sex, pineapples, curries etc. I drank a bottle on the friday, Ci arrived v early on the sunday morning!! And its good for you too, so your on a winner!! Its about £3 for a litre but it certainly worked for me and a couple of other people I know. Good Luck!

A good curry has been known to bring on labour though. That's how my friend Lyn's labour was brought on.

Try caster oil & orange Juice. Its taste like s**h but it does work. I took it cause Iwas two weeks overdue and they were going to induce me.

i ate curry all the time so that did not work for me!!!

when i had my first i was just over a week overdue so i went down the pub and had a pint of guiness and luaghed for about 2 hours! i had him the next day!!

thats more fun than castor oil!!

Luna

I have actually heard of the booze theory but not too much because then it can slow down labour

willow
08-07-2005, 20:14
i had a pint every day just about, i worked in the pub and it was for medicinal purpouses!!! really!!! i think it was the laughing that helped to be honest!!

Jojo

Although be warned, Midwive's can see if you have had castor oil to bring on labour, because it makes your waters shiny and they can see a change in your afterbirth - when I was overdue with Ci, they told me under no circumstances to try it and they can tell, my friend had some and they saw and had a go at her!

flipping heck!! i did not know that???

thats more fun than castor oil!!Guiness is apparently good in respect of the iron content in it so long as you don't have too much - my dad brought some in to the hospital for me when I was waiting for Ste to arrive and they said it was fine!! Moderation is the key!

flipping heck!! i did not know that???Apparently it leaves an oily residue in your waters etc - imagine vegetable oil and water - it don't mix, same with caster oil apparently. My midwives are great, even to the extent of no stitches just meant bucket fa*** :rotfl: but they were really stern about this one!

itt was the only type of booze i would have when i was pregnant!!

i said i had a pint but that would last me all day, not down in one!!!

when my friend had a baby a cuople of years ago i went round to see her and she said i was the only one she was thankful too see as i had 2 cans of guiness and a coupke of mags!!!

Jojo

I think with anything during pregnancy, moderation is the key. With my other 2 I smoked right through, and I was told not to give up just because I was pregnant, because it would be more stressful for the babies, just to cut down, when they were born they were 6lb 13 and 7lb 11, and healthy. Its not the point, I know, but I wasn't going to stress myself about it as that would have made it worse. The night Ci was born, I had had 2 cigs and 2 glasses of wine! Though I did panic that he would come out smelling of booze and fags mind !!!

willow

it's totally up to you what you do!! i gave up but that was me!! i have to admit i started again nearly as soon as they came out!! with niamh i did enjoy probably toomany g;asses of wine but she is fine they were both good weights, niall did have asthma when he was younger but has grown out of it now,

Jojo

I've given up this time - I stopped in September (go me!!), but very worried I am going to have a 9 - 10lb'er instead!!

Stephen was born with a chest infection (though they all said it wasn't through the smoking), which panicked me a bit, but fine after 7 days. Ciaran had meningitis at 7 months, but he was thankfully fine too, although definitely nowt to do with the smoking. I wouldn't preach to anyone who did smoke, as I know how hard it is to give up.

willow
09-07-2005, 10:12
oh yes, i sell fags in my shop and i would not look down on a pregnant woman buying fags i know how hard it is to give up!!! the hardest thing for me when i had niamh was i gave up and my other half started!!!!

Jojo

My hubby has always looked down at me, as he never smoked, yet I did from when I was about 14!! Couldn't have been nice for him though and I am glad I have stopped.

My bf always gets on at me for smoking!!! The look of discust on his face sometimes.

But the funny thing is he smoke when he drinks

willow
09-07-2005, 10:20
my boyfriend smokes but does not drink!!!

Jojo
09-07-2005, 10:22
Social smokers are the worse - they frown on you when you smoke normally, but a pint in their hand and they're chain smoking!! Cracks me up. Hubby was always on at me to give up, but I think that was why I carried on - stubborness!! And he did far worse when he was younger apparently!

willow
09-07-2005, 10:28
you can tell the social smokers, on a saturday night they come in and buy 10 bh and a box of matches!! on the way to the pub!!

I'm just lucky that once I am in labour - I definitely don't stop. It just a shame that I am normally 2 weeks late prior to going into labour!!
