After winning his fight for life, Acting DC Gary Best (Ciaran Griffiths) realises his nightmare is far from over as he may be paralysed. He is emotionally reunited with his estranged mother, then stuns his colleagues by announcing he is returning to Manchester for good in the morning. The relief say their goodbyes but Gary is preoccupied, wondering whether he’ll ever walk again.
When Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) fails to turn up for work, a concerned Smithy (Alex Walkinshaw) and Jonathan (Larry Lamb) decide to pay her a visit. After letting themselves in, they are horrified to find her unconscious on the bathroom floor. Is time running out for her?
Lonely and desperate to impress, Tony (Graham Cole) hires an escort for Honey’s (Kim Tiddy) birthday party. When his date is revealed to be fellow officer PC Amber Johannsen (Myfanwy Waring), moonlighting as an escort, Amber is forced to continue the charade or face humiliating exposure.
Meanwhile, the search to find Gary’s gunman is on. While DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) and the rest of CID struggle to put the pieces together, the one name which keeps appearing is Adam’s (Cyril Nri) best friend, Isaac Collins (Anthony Warren). Thinking that Adam’s judgement on this case has been shaky since the start, Jack starts to wonder if the recent death of his entire family has affected his work. Adam decides to pay Isaac a visit and tells him he believes he is innocent. They agree it’s been a rough period for both of them and when Isaac offers up a joint, Adam accepts. Has the superintendent turned to the dark side?

Scandalous photographs of Superintendent Adam Okaro (Cyril Nri) smoking a spliff with Isaac (Anthony Warren) fall into the hands of Borough Commander, Ian Barratt (John McCardle) with severe consequences. Jack (Simon Rouse) and Gina (Roberta Taylor) are stunned when after three years at Sun Hill, Adam decides to resign before he is pushed. Feeling guilty and sorry for Adam, Isaac gives him a security job at his company, but in doing so Adam’s life is put in grave danger…
Rochelle (Anna Acton) and Dan (Chris Jarvis) rekindle their illicit affair and during a steamy liaison in her office, husband Commander Barrett walks in. Is this the end of the affair, or has randy Rochelle got away with it again..?
Meanwhile, sick of being the butt of Yvonne (Michele Austin) and Honey’s (Kim Tiddy) jokes, PC Amber Johannsen (Myfanwy Waring) decides that if people think she really is Tony’s (Graham Cole) girlfriend, she is going to make the most of it by exploiting him as much as she can. But finally standing up for himself and much to Honey’s delight, Tony publicly dumps Amber at a work party.
Also, Jack questions Neil (Andrew Lancel) about his relationship with DC Susie Sim (Wendy Kweh). After Neil denies there is anything going on, Jack is furious when he sees the two of them in a compromising position.
Nowhere does that say that Gary dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you please state your source.. as as far as I can see he lives but is paralysed. Oh and could this be Gina's exit coming up too.... awwwwwwwwwwwww... Smithy will be sooooo sad.
