Adoption Row. Ash Drops A Bombshell About Baby Luc - How Will Kat React?
Another Summer Bay couple could be set to split when Ash tells Kat he wants to formally adopt baby Luc.
But the career-driven policewoman can't fathom the idea of having a family yet. Will it drive them apart?
In Home and Away this week, the pressure is on to stop Mick from gaining access to his daughter Luc. Fans will recall Irene recently revealed her mystery caller was her son. As part of his rehabilitation, he wants visitation rights.
Kat then gave Ash (George Mason) a list of solicitors, suggesting that VJ could call them.
As it turns out, Ash took it upon himself to make the calls and he's now looking at adoption papers. At their apartment, Ash reveals his plan to Kat.
While she tries to hide her reaction, Ash can tell she's not pleased.
It's just another blow for the pair, who have struggled to find common ground since they began caring for Luc.
It's a tough situation," George, 27, tells TV WEEK. There's an expectation that Kat will step up because she loves Ash, but she doesn't."
While viewers have seen Kat struggling to bond with the infant, Ash has seemingly failed to notice her anxiety.
Even in Luc's hour of need at the hospital, Kat felt out of place. Ash's priorities have shifted, but Kat's haven't.
"He can't blame Kat for feeling that way, but it hurts him," George explains. "He'll do whatever is best for Luc."
At the hospital, Ash runs into Tori and Leah and talk turns to the adoption. Leah thanks him for adopting Luc. But when Ash changes the subject, Tori senses something is wrong.
After Leah leaves, she checks in on Ash. With his head in his hands, he reveals he and Kat are drifting apart. He doesn't believe she'll ever want to make Luc a priority.
"He wonders if perhaps they're not destined to be together," George says.
The next morning, Kat visits Ash at the garage. When she reveals she hasn't decided what she wants to do, she's taken aback by his response.
He tells her he has a meeting about the adoption scheduled for next week and needs her decision by then.
It looks like an ultimatum is brewing!
No-one's Son. Hunter Struggles To Deal With The Paternity Results.
Old habits resurface for Hunter this week when he goes on a wild rampage across Summer Bay.
Since learning Zac isn't his biological father, Hunter has not only lost someone he cares for, but part of his identity. Could his depressive state be enough to tip him over the edge?
At Irene's house, Olivia encourages him to reach out to his biological father. But Hunter is in no mood to discuss his family tree. In fact, he decides to shut out Olivia completely and storms off.
Later, at the beach, Hunter disregards the flags and goes for a surf amongst swimmers. When lifeguard-on-duty Mason reprimands him for nearly hitting someone with his board, Hunter makes a snarky comment & leaves.
He arrives at the surf club, where Alf encourages him to help out. Hunter agrees, until Mason arrives. Surely this can't end well!
Looking for a fight, Hunter does his best to get under Mason's skin. Suddenly, he shoves Mason. As things turn physical, Hunter lets his anger rip.
Will he do something he'll regret?
