6th APRIL 300
PC Roger Valentine (John Bowler) investigates the hoax call to DS Ramani De Costa’s (Thusitha Jayasundera) ex-boyfriend claiming that Ramani was dead. It’s Roger’s first VPU case and he’s not taking it very seriously, much to Ramani’s chagrin. Roger apologises and determines to make headway when Ramani discovers her diary has gone missing. Margaret Barnes (Annabelle Apsion) finds the diary, and Ramani is convinced that someone in the station is behind the call. Is Roger right to be concerned about the state of Ramani’s mind?
PC Lance Powell (Ofo Uhiara) and PC Sheelagh Murphy (Bernie Nolan) continue to work on the Cole Lane Estate as part of the drugs task force, Operation Mercury. Two local drug dealers, Adi Mateen and Andy Marshall, fall under suspicion when an old man is assaulted. Lance fails to report the incident and arrests Marshall, thus jeopardising CID surveillance. Marshall is released on bail and is subsequently found shot dead. Is Adi Mateen behind the execution?
DS Samantha Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) and DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) deal with an assault on serial rapist Alan Kennedy (James Clyde). A friend of Kennedy’s first rape victim confesses to the attack, and Sam visits the victim, Brenda Kelman, to ascertain whether she set him up to it. Brenda tells Sam how let down she feels by her after being a witness at Kennedy’s trial in which he escaped conviction. Sam later receives a call from Kennedy from Brenda’s mobile. Has Sam let Brenda down again?
7th APRIL 301
DS Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) now works for the National Crime Squad, and he returns to Sun Hill with intelligence that suggests DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) is corrupt. Neil’s wife, Philippa, is barrister for the prosecution on a big laundering case, and Mickey has pictures of Neil meeting with a key witness who is now refusing to talk. Mickey tells DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) about Neil’s affair with PC Andrea Dunbar (Natalie J Robb). With Neil’s professional credibility undermined, will Jack believe the claims?
Elsewhere, DS Ramani De Costa’s (Thusitha Jayasundera) works on a domestic violence case in which the wife’s statement goes missing. Consequently Ramani makes mistakes when interviewing the husband and has to release him on bail. First a diary, now a statement… Ramani wonders whether Margaret Barnes (Annabelle Apsion) is behind the disappearances, and has a quick rifle through Margaret’s bag when she thinks no one is looking. Later, Ramani is nearly attacked by the husband outside a women’s refuge, and Margaret comes to her rescue. Is it purely coincidence that Margaret happened to be driving past, or is Ramani deeply paranoid?
Meanwhile DS Samantha Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) and DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) are led on a wild goose chase by serial rapist Alan Kennedy (James Clyde) who, after the kidnap of Brenda, now seems to have gone after second victim Nina. Kennedy sets a trap for Sam, and she is lured into an abandoned warehouse and held at knifepoint. Is Sam about to become the next rape victim?
And PC Lance Powell (Ofo Uhiara) works with Trident on the Cole Lance Estate murder. Adi Mateen (TJ Ramini) is causing him consternation…
