Paula Lane's husband joins Coronation Street

Tom Shaw, the husband of Paula Lane, who played Kylie Platt in Coronation Street, is joining the show!

Tom will be playing a new character called Kim who is a friend of Fiz from her days in care. He'll get in touch with Fiz and while she's happy to see him again, Tyrone's not best pleased to find out that Kim's a man.

Tom trained at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) aged 18 and made his professional stage debut in the two-hander play "Sign of the Times" (as Alan) opposite Stephen Tompkinson.

He became a father for the 1st time at age 28 when his wife Paula Lane gave birth to their son Arthur Wallace Shaw on 31 December 2014.

Tom has appeared in rival soaps Hollyoaks and Emmerdale previously.

Coronation Street is bringing back Kim Vaughan, as Paula Lane's husband Tom Shaw reprises the role again.

Viewers will remember that Tom joined the cast for a brief guest stint last year as Kim – a childhood friend of Fiz Stape's.

Confirming the news on Twitter today, Paula – who played the late Kylie Platt – said: "When @itvcorrie scripts come through the letterbox then I realise they're not for me! @SirTomShaw over to you."

We previously saw that Tyrone was left uneasy over Fiz's friendship with antiques specialist Kim, despite the fact that he was actually gay.

And with Fiz and Tyrone's relationship more fragile than ever these days, it's looking like Kim's return could cause even more drama for the pair.

Fiz and Tyrone's once-solid relationship has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, after he betrayed her by sleeping with his friend Gemma Winters.

Although Fiz forgave Tyrone for his big mistake, the couple later ran into more problems when the truth about their daughters Ruby and Hope was revealed.

But given that there is certainly no love lost between Tyrone and Kim, could this news mean there is even more trouble on the way for Tyrone and Fiz?
