On monday i have to run a huge 800m race, i'm sooooo nervous everyone will be watching and i'm so scared it on monday(today is friday) what can i do over the weekend to prepare for it.
i've done 10k's before just dont think about the other ppl keep focused on what you are doing and remember to warm up properly. once your out there you will forget about everyone else

Practise running a bit on Saturday. Relax on Sunday. Don't woryy, I've run 800 before, it really isn't that bad. My main idea is as you are running think of something, to stop you focusing on the race. Thats what I do. Good Luck

ok kl i'll just do a bit of joggin, its regional championships ahhhhhhhhhhhh
I used to do 1500m - just remember that once you start running, adrenalin will kick in and the nerves will go. Run your own race, be positive and remember that the other runners are probably just as nervous as you!! Make sure you warm up and cool down properly before and after and don't drink too much beforehand. But most of all GOOD LUCK!!! :cheer: If you are in the regional championships, you are good at it!! Stay positive Flozza and go get em!
hey, i do the 800m and i will do it on Thursday at an athletics tournement! I also did it on sports day and i won!! It isn't that hard, but if you don't pace yourself, you get in trouble! Just remember to jog at the begining and sprint at the end no matter what anyone else does!! have fun and good luck!!

i used to do 800 and 1500. Just warm up proply and you will be fine. i dont run any more because last time i ended up in hospital.
I also find if you concentrate on your breathing then that really helps to.

i don't really have any good advice....seeing as i do hurdles and long jump!! lol
Just pace yourself and do your best!!

i find singing songs in my head helps lol! always did 800m on sports day and did quite well til the last year when we all decided just to muck about instead! also, even if you feel tired or your legs start to hurt, dont slow down whatever you do as that will make it worse. and remember to breathe! i always seem to forgot to breathe properly when running and it really doesnt help lol!!! good luck! :)

Ive got hurdles tomorrow, i'm REALLY not looking forward to them. I'm against people from county!! the hurdles are like....up too *gestures towards forhead* up here!!!

thanks, but my crappy P.E teacher has totally changed my technique in our p.e lessons so i'm clueless on how to jump them!!! lol Luckily theres gonna be some other people going aswell from other schools so that should be.er.....interesting!!

just realised when i had to do 1500 m in front of the whole of my year i just looked straight ahead and went slowly . you must remember not to stop though because if you do then you cant run again so just take your time , dont sprit at the start and when you get a stitch just slow jog and breath for 10 secs then start going again . also it is important to exersise before hand so you dont get knackered after 100 m . hope this helps for the next time you do a long distance run !

I got through to the finals then came fifth!! i'm not that bothered, we had great fun!!!

i love the 800m last time i ran it i came 3rd that was up against the fastes people in our year.

God i would never even try! lol. i can hardly run 100m without gettign puffed out and thats being deadly serious! lol i am so unfit and so not into sports, especially the kind involving running! or any kind actually! :)
