DRAMA, DEATH AND DECEIT 9 shocking EastEnders storylines revealed for 2017 from Max Branning’s return to the truth about Phil Mitchell
BBC bosses are ramping up the drama in the New Year with EastEnders set to be more action packed than ever before
EASTENDERS fans are in for a treat in the New Year as The Sun Online can reveal the soap is set to screen some of its most explosive storylines.
There are going to more risks, more shocks and a lot of familiar faces returning to Albert Square.
As the New Year begins there are epic storylines to tie up, with some big name characters hoping for unforgettable departures, and new webs to start weaving.
It sounds like Sean’s got his work cut out but it turns out he’s got a lot up his sleeve…
The Mitchell-Apocalypse
It’s going to be crazy 2017 for the family, with Phil remaining as the main focus of the family’s storylines. Will his new liver give him woe, or will he be able to come back fighting?
If overcoming his liver cirrhosis wasn’t enough though, Phil’s nemesis Max Branning is out of jail and back in Walford.
When Max finds out exactly what Phil did to keep him behind bars for so long, we think there’s going to be a riot.
Expect hard nut Phil to be calling in some favours, with his sidekick moll Sharon standing firmly by his side.
Warning: there are going to be a lot of calls to Marcus Ritchie in 2017.
As well as Phil’s impending storylines, producers are preparing to say farewell to Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell who are leaving the soap.
They’ve worked hard to keep their exit under wraps but it’s expected the sisters will meet a grizzly end.
Seriously, this time they aren’t just going off on another trip to Ibiza.
Sean said of Roxy and Ronnie: “After the extraordinary baroque departure of the Mitchell sisters, there is loads to look forward to.
“The audience can expect a few shocks, some laughs, some tears.”
“2017 is going to be EastEnders at its best with new characters round the corner and some big challenges for the ones we already know and love.
Watch this space….!”
Whitney Dean’s heartache
If there’s one thing that’s certain in EastEnders, 2017 is going to be a horrible year for Whitney Dean.
With her husband Lee Carter, played by Danny-Boy Hatchard, set to leave the soap in the coming months, she’ll be flying solo for most of the year.
Will she be left a widow? Or will she be a heartbroken newlywed whose husband’s done a runner after struggling to cope with life outside of the armed forces?
Although Lee’s storyline hasn’t been confirmed, his downwards spiral has started with nasty Osman ‘Oz’ Bolat looking likely to be involved in some way or another.
On a brighter note, bosses have already teased a baby storyline for Whitney so there could be a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel.
Being a single mum won’t be easy for Whitney but with everyone on Albert Square ready to lend a hand, and Lee’s mum and dad still running the Queen Vic, she’s sure to be well looked after.
Denise Fox and her many lovers…
Vixen Denise has her eyes on a new man: the seriously hot Kush Kazemi.
Everyone saw that passionate snog at Christmas and with Denise’s track record, we’re sure it won’t be long until she’s managed to seduce him completely.
Of course there’s still the issue of Phil Mitchell’s unborn child which is growing inside of her.
It’s unlikely that’ll stop man-eating Denise from getting her wicked way with Kush however.
But will he be happy to play happy families once mini-Phil Mitchell is born? It’s looking doubtful…
Max Branning: Revenge is a dish best served cold
He languished behind bars for 12 months after being wrongfully convicted of Lucy Beale’s murder, so Max Branning’s had a long time to plan exactly how he’s going to get even.
After turning up in Walford, from his new home in Shadwell, armed with a left-over turkey for his ex-lover Stacey Branning’s fiancé Martin and enough cash in his wallet to get a round in at the Vic, some residents think Max has changed.
But behind his s warm smile and all-is-forgiven-handshakes with Ian and Jane Beale, there’s anger behind his eyes…and a lot of it.
Max has already started making a play for Michelle Fowler, played by new actress Jenna Russell, and it’s likely she’ll get burnt as a pawn in Max’s twisted game.
The only people safe on the Square are his kids Lauren and Abi. But it’s highly unlikely their 2017 happy family reunion will go to plan.
Farewell Dot Cotton
With her ailing eyesight and her job at the launderette long gone, Dot’s in for a morose year.
If the sadness of her Christmas storylines was anything to go by, it’s unlikely the next 12 months is going to be a bed of roses.
Actress June Brown is said to have signed a deal with the soap up to 2018 so expect the 89-year-old to spend the next few months tying up loose ends and saying fond farewells.
The soap icon she is, Dot’s departure from the show will be heart-breaking, no matter how Sean decides to play it.
Whether her black cat Ethel will be involved in her departure, however, is yet to be seen.
The riddle of Kim Fox
Vincent Hubbard has returned to Walford bloodied, bruised and without his wife Kim Fox.
The larger than life character is no-where to be seen when their holiday comes to and end and it seems something dreadful is afoot.
Earlier this year, actress Tameka Empson revealed her character was in for an explosive storyline that will dominate 2017.
She said: “You’re going to see a more serious side to Kim.
“We’ve seen the laughter, the laughter will never go but I think as life goes on we’re hit by grievances and things like that.”
One thing is for sure: Kim won’t be missing the birth of mini-Phil Mitchell once her sister Denise goes into labour.
Tameka adds: “She’s got a bit of balls. She’s got a bit of deep down strength when it comes to supporting her sister.”
The return of Grant Mitchell
He’s always been a fan favourite but could hard-man Grant Mitchell really be returning to the Square?
His brother Phil is going to need help when it comes to taking down Max, who’s hell bent on getting even with the mechanic.
And when Grant finds out how close the red-headed businessman is getting to his ex Michelle Fowler, it surely won’t be long until he comes running.
If not for long, we’re sure to see a cameo when Roxy and Ronnie are written out.
If the tragic sisters do die, there’s nothing the Mitchell’s do better than a “proper family” funeral.
Actor Ross Kemp has made no secret of his desire to return to the soap full time either, saying he’d be open to exploring new storylines on the Square.
It’s the Kat and Alfie show
They’re 500 miles away from Albert Square in a tiny Irish fishing village to find Kat Moon’s adopted son, but its likely the loudmouth and her husband Alfie will pop up on EastEnders in early 2017.
Although the highly anticipated spin off show Redwater is set to air in the New Year, fans hope Sean will showcase a taster of what’s to come for the popular couple in the coming months.
The twin brother of Zoe, Luke was whisked away and adopted without teenage mum Kat even realising but now she knows about him, she’s hell-bent on getting him back into her life.
Jay Brown and Ben Mitchell: the brotherhood continues
Jay Brown and Ben Mitchell have made an incredibly popular pairing but it’s going to get a lot darker for them both come the New Year.
They’ve been through a lot together in the past three months and although they’re closer than ever, Sean’s incredible plans for the pair are said to be so explosive they’ll both be pushed to their limits.

"Max's twisted game."

That above article by the Sun is full of silliness and errors. Denise is apparently a vixen and a maneater :wall:, and Dot - despite June Brown having signed a new contract - is getting ready to say farewell. :searchme:

I suppose at least the article does confirm that Max has returned angry and looking for revenge. I'm going to enjoy his game, twisted or not.

It looks like the drama for the Carters on EastEnders isn't over just yet as the soap is planning to kill off a member of the clan in shocking scenes next month.

According to The Mirror, the unlucky character about to bow out from Walford for good is Linda Marlowe's Sylvie Carter, the woman Mick Carter thought was his mum for most of his life, with members of the Carter family reportedly spotted filming her funeral earlier this week.

The rumoured storyline also suggests that that Sylvie's Alzheimer's disease is not necessarily the cause of her death either, hinting that the show may have a few twists up its sleeve.

Of course, nothing is confirmed just yet, as an EastEnders spokesperson told Digital Spy: "We don't comment on storyline speculation as we don't want to spoil it for the viewers."

Sylvie first appeared in Albert Square in 2014 after she was brought along by Shirley and Mick when they were shocked to find her in Aunt Babe's house.

It was eventually revealed that Sylvie wasn't Mick's mum as everyone had believed, and was instead Mick's grandmother as Mick is actually Shirley's son and not her younger brother.

Sylvie's future on the soap has been left a little uncertain since last month when Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) realised that she can no longer care for her mother, with Luisa later teasing that there were some big stories on the way for Tina.

If the storyline rumours are true, Sylvie will be the latest in a long line of departing Carters following the exits of Nancy, Linda, and Lee in recent weeks, while Danny Dyer will also be taking a brief break from his role as Mick.

And while Linda popped back briefly for a visit in last night's (March 16) episode and Mick will be back on Albert Square before we know it, it looks like EastEnders is still lining up a tough time ahead for the Carters.

Things are about to royally kick off in EastEnders as huge summer storylines kick off, several characters make long awaited returns and a host of new arrivals descend on Albert Square.

For many months, there has been a significant transition in the feel of EastEnders but fans are about to see some of the bubbling strands start to really take form as the show enters its next phase.
The trailer released offers a brief teaser of what’s ahead – allow us to elaborate on all of the signifcant moments:

Jack flees Walford?

In the wake of his fight with Charlie, Jack is facing the prospect of prison and, even if he doesn’t go down, he could still now have next to no case for custody of Matthew. As things get on top of him and Charlie continues to plan to take Matthew, Jack hits upon the desperate plan to flee Walford with the kids. But will he go through with it – and could he just land himself in even deeper trouble?

Denise hits rock bottom

Denise’s desperate situation is going to get even worse as she finds herself unable to eat. When she then gets bad news at the job centre, she breaks down in tears at the prospect of going to a food bank. When she sees Cora there, can Cora help her out of her mess?

Mick loses it with Shirley

Shirley tries her best to keep the sale of the freehold a secret but with Fi hanging around, it can only be a matter of time before Mick discovers the truth – and his reaction is explosive. The trailer showed him completely lose it with Shirley as the truth dawned – is there any way back or is the damage irreversible?

Whitney falls apart

Meanwhile, Whitney continues to try and mask the pain surrounding the breakdown of her marriage but it will continue to slip and, after an ill advised pass at Woody and an emotional breakdown, she self harms by ripping off her fake nails. When Mick returns, can he be the one to help her – and will an attraction continue to form between them?
And just why is Shirley having a massive go at Whitney – could that attraction have spilled over into passion?

Linda comes home

The Vic is suddenly busy again as Linda’s return will follow Mick’s but how will Mick react to the revelation that Linda gave Shirley the green light to sell the freehold of the Vic? And, with Mick growing closer to Whitney, could their marriage be about to hit seriously troubled waters?

Mick takes on Max

Of course, Max is behind all of this and, as Fi gets comfortable at the Vic, Mick discovers that Max was pulling the puppet strings when Shirley made the difficult decision and seeks out a confrontation, branding him a snake. But is Max finished with the Carters?

Joyce and Ted hide a secret

Pensioner couple Joyce and Ted move to Walford and try their best to settle in, having lived at their last place for the best parts of their lives. But as they get accustomed, Joyce notices that Ted has brought a box that she told him to leave him inside and it becomes clear that the pair have a secret to hide.

The Taylors arrive

The Taylors are set to liven up Albert Square as no nonsense Karen brings her brood to the community and before long, they are getting on the wrong side of some of the residents including Sharon and Stacey. But, with warmth and heart underneath, can the clan settle in and make friends? And which member of the family is hiding something that they would rather not come out?

Steven stalks Lauren

With Lauren and Josh growing closer, Steven’s suspicions start to grow to the point where he installs a tracking device on Lauren’s phone. Terrified of losing her, Steven heads to the edge and will soon rediscover his dark side. And, when Abi becomes involved in the whole mess, things could spiral out of control.
Just why is Steven manhandling Abi in the restaurant kitchen?

Is Bex pregnant?

Bex will head to the chemist and purchase a test and the trailer certainly reveals a positive result but is it Bex’s test or someone else’s? And, if Bex is indeed pregnant, what will this mean for Michelle to know her niece is carrying her former lover’s baby?
Or could the test have belonged to Lauren given that Steven has been sabotaging their contraception?

Max and the Chairman’s plan steps up a gear

Max continues to weave his revenge among the community of Albert Square and as the Chairman oversees what is going on, it seems that everything is coming together. But just what is their end game and how far is Max prepared to go?

Robbie’s new job

Robbie arrives back and, with Carmel heading to work at the council in her new job – encouraged by devious Max – a suited up Robbie prepares to work alongside Martin and the other stallholders. It’s a safe bet that he is the new market inspector but will he be up to the task?

Is Dot dead?

The trailer showed the unsettling scene of Dot falling to the ground in her kitchen before being left lifeless, but what has caused her accident and will she survive? Sonia looks deeply troubled as Dot is rushed to hospital but EastEnders would never kill her off – would they?

Yolande and Patrick reunite?

We recently saw Yolande again when she headed up Denise’s disciplinary hearing for the Minute Mart and viewers will be delighted to know that she will be heading back to Walford where she comes face to face with her ex husband Patrick. But what brings her home and could there be a reunion on the cards?

Denise collapses

As Denise continues to hide the severity of the situation, things take a turn for the worse as she sits her exam but ends up collapsing. With the lack of food having clearly had a massive impact on her health, will she be okay and will it be the wake up call she needs to finally open up to her loved ones?
