Actor Luke McKenzie has been cast in the role of Patrick Stanwood. The actor, perhaps best known for his roles as Nash Taylor in Wentworth and Shannon Taylor in Winners & Losers, shared a photo on Instagram whilst filming at Palm Beach last week. It’s currently unknown as to whether the character of Patrick will be a guest or a more permanent fixture in the bay.

Home and Away reveals the truth about Patrick Stanwood's traumatic past later this month as he finally opens up to his brother Ash.

Ever since Patrick (Luke McKenzie) moved to Summer Bay a few weeks ago, it's been clear that he's struggling with troubling memories from his time in the army, which are still affecting his behaviour to this day.

Patrick's storyline takes another unexpected turn when he's involved in a car accident which leaves Justin Morgan's young daughter Ava injured.

Suffering a PTSD episode in the aftermath, Patrick becomes convinced that he's killed Ava and frantically tries to carry her away from "enemy gunfire" until Phoebe Nicholson stops him.

Once Patrick manages to get out of his disorientated state, his loved ones want answers and he finally decides to open up to Ash (George Mason) by telling him everything.

As the day's events begin to make more sense to Patrick, he admits that he thought Ava was a little girl that he shot in Afghanistan.

Patrick explains that this terrible accident is the real reason why he struggles hearing Luc's crying around the house. Can Ash convince his brother to get the help he needs?
