Over on Emmerdale, Emma Barton puts herself in danger when she starts to self-medicate in a desperate attempt to cope with her guilt.

Emma (Gillian Kearney) is struggling to get back to normal following the tragic death of her husband James, who lost his life when she accidentally pushed him off a road bridge.

These dramatic new pictures show the moment that the pills have a shocking effect on Emma, sending her out cold after she takes too many.

Monday

Pierce angrily confronts Liv, as he thinks she was the one who sent the 'P' flowers to Rhona. Liv fights back by branding Pierce manipulative like her dad.

Rhona is alarmed by Pierce's anger and tells Paddy what he's been up to. Paddy is concerned by what he hears, but when Rhona throws caution to the wind by going back to Pierce, she's surprised to find a note waiting for her.

Meanwhile, Carly creates a monster when Brenda finally gets into the swing of selling the make-up.

Elsewhere, Belle takes some advice from Jermaine and writes down her feelings – including her upset over what's going on with her dad. Will Joanie make a shocking discovery when she finds the journal?

Also today, Adam infuriates Victoria when he admits he'd rather have a cat than a child.


Tuesday

There's a shock for the factory staff when Jai and Priya reveal that they may introduce zero-hour contracts. It doesn't go down well, so Jai suggests they should decide who wants to take voluntary redundancy.

A ballot box is brought out to help make the decision, but Jai is furious when the ballots all come out with his name on them! However, when Joanie's name is also pulled out, who voted for her?

Meanwhile, Paddy decides to do the right thing for Rhona's happiness and goes after Pierce, forcing him to come back to the village. He encourages Pierce to admit his anger problems and get some help, but will Pierce agree?

Elsewhere, Emma starts to self-medicate to help cope with his guilt.

Also today, Adam tells Victoria that he still wants a child, while Belle is relieved when Joanie doesn't appear to have read her journal.


Wednesday

Zak is shocked that Joanie has lost her job at the factory, while Belle is upset that everyone thinks she was to blame.

It's a surprising day as the true culprit is finally revealed – and Joanie drops a bombshell on Zak.

Meanwhile, Leyla finds Emma out cold next to some pills. She alerts the Barton boys, who momentarily fear that their mum is dead. Once Emma has regained consciousness, Ross asks Emma whether she stole prescription sheets from Doctor Cavanagh.

Elsewhere, Rhona is pleased when Pierce is honest at their counselling session, admitting that he has an anger problem. Pierce shares details of his past and explains why he is the way he is.

Also today, Frank offers to arrange a skydiving trip for David on his birthday, while Victoria vows to go on a fertility diet.


Thursday (1)

It's another difficult day for Emma as she has to attend James's inquest. Things start off well when a pathologist explains that the drugs in James's system are consistent with his broken leg.

When Emma takes to the stand, she admits that James's death was her fault. As everyone - including the Barton boys - watches on, will they realise the significance of Emma's words?

Meanwhile, Belle is upset when Zak and Joanie reveal that they've decided to move away from the village. However, there are already signs that Zak doesn't really want to go.

Elsewhere, when David gets wind of the skydive plan, he tells his loved ones that he'd rather fundraise for his cancer ward. Frank gets involved by dressing up as an elf and making a sign which invites people to throw foam pies at him for charity. But will the fun afternoon take a turn when Bobby arrives?

Also, Brenda and Carly could be in trouble when Marlon uses some face cream and gets a rash.

How will the court respond to Emma's emotional outburst?

Meanwhile, Bobby puts a cunning plan into action by pretending to be a reporter and interviewing Tracy about Frank. Armed with lots of useful information to use against him, Bobby then confronts Frank and demands cash.

Friday

Bobby gives Frank an ultimatum, threatening to ruin his life if he doesn't hand the cash over by 1pm. When Tracy arrives with a substantial cash donation from Lawrence, an eagle-eyed Frank realises he can use it to pay Bobby.

In the end, Frank decides not to take the money and accepts a beating instead. But will everything turn out as he expects?

Meanwhile, Moira seeks comfort over James's death.

Elsewhere, Pierce and Rhona are next to fall victim to Brenda's dodgy creams.

Also today, Finn visits Kasim in the hospital, while April shows Carly her letter to Santa and says her dad's wish is for her to move in.
