So it's not enough to break Todd and Billy up, now they want to put Todd in danger? This just keeps getting better and better!

Maybe this is the start of a reconciliation. Billy can't stand the thought of losing Todd. Remember those 'hot' scenes Dan tweeted about mid August - even though I've been through his tweets back to then and can't find it.

Where do you get this from the spoilers though? They didn't even mention Billy.

I haven't seen the spoilers. I just go by what people say and what I read in the soap magazines but IF and it's a big if, Todd does get hurt or he gets in trouble for some reason, Billy will be there for him. It's just such a shame to have a couple come so far only to go and break them up.

https://twitter.com/Dan_Brocklebank/status/766199485995290624 the tweet of the hot scenes is in the comments I struggled to find it as well until some sent it via tumblr, also states he is 'working closely' with Bruno which is good!!

Also it was posted only 3 weeks ago and based off of what others have said and stuff I have seen in the past it is 6 weeks, sometimes longer at 8 weeks, until scenes get aired from when they are filmed so there is still a lot of hope they are together later down the track or at least still sharing scenes which again is hopeful and shows they havent been written off by the producers. Many people including myself are certain they will get back together as both actors and the show has invested to much in them for this to just be a short term thing, this is just a down in their hopefully long term relationship.

The way I see the Todd/Phelan thing is that there are three possible scenarios:

Todd teams up with Phelan for no ulterior motive (other than he wants to prove to Billy what a "bad boy" he really is, lol)
Todd teams up with Phelan to take him down
Todd teams up with Phelan with no ulterior motive but something happens down the road leading to him having a change of heart and start trying to take him down instead of working with him.

I guess we'll see which scenario it is. I personally hope it's the second or third. The first one is not interesting, there are no twists, other than Todd being "evil" again. I much prefer Todd with both a good side and a manipulative side, which he could use to take down Phelan. But we'll see.

louisa

I reckon he's only teaming up with him to take him down. Everyone has their soft spot or spots. Family and Billy are Todd's soft spots. This is Jason's business and Eileen's involved so I'd like to think he's doing it for his family.

Yeah, but him teaming up with Phelan just for the sake of teaming up with him isn't exactly him doing it for the right reasons, I get that Billy broke up with him and he's just lashing out, but still. It's a bit silly to me. And while I agree Todd making rash and stupid decisions like this, especially after getting hurt, makes sense and is in-character for him, it's still not something I want to see. I feel like all the character development lately that he has made is going to waste. It's also sligthly upsetting to have him call the bishop, both because he's reverting back to his selfish old self and because I actually thought he knew how much being a vicar meant to Billy. Silly me though because I was obviously wrong, ugh. And to top it all off, we are now supposed to feel sorry for that judgmental guy Sean while of course Todd is the guy who everyone will now start to hate again, after the show spent so much time trying to redeem him, smh. I am so done with this crap.

Todd did not seem at all serious about looking for a place. No wonder Billy was panicked. But having said that if Billy cannot be open and honest about his private life then he needs to give up his profession or make a stand. He cannot live like this looking over his shoulder or for a knock on the door.
It's not living that's for sure.

Well said. I agree. Todd should realize that Billy is putting everything on the line for him. He is sacrificing a lot so Todd can live there (even if it is just for a few days). But on the other hand I can see why Todd got so hurt and upset. It's like Billy didn't take the relationship seriously, like it was just some casual fling, that Todd didn't mean anything to him. I know it's not how he really feels, but that's how it came across to Todd. He was literally chucking him out the door after just one day. So yeah.. Todd being upset definitely makes sense, I would have probably been too. It's the first serious relationship he's had in like forever too. But on the other hand I can understand Billy for panicking a bit, especially after Sean putting his nose in, as usual. What Sean said really got to him, he realized he's taking a huge risk by Todd living there and he's afraid to lose everything. I don't think Todd realize how much the church means to Billy. Hell, it's obvious he doesn't otherwise he wouldn't have called the bishop in the first place. I agree though that Billy wants to have it all, a love life and being a vicar, but he just can't. It's not possible. I know he breaks up with Todd now and it's not an issue, but I have a feeling it will be further down the road. He needs to make a choice for real, the church, or having a love life.

Over on Coronation Street, another affair could be about to rumbled by a grandchild as Alya Nazir becomes suspicious of Sharif's relationship with Sonia.

Viewers learned recently that Sharif (Marc Anwar) has been having a seven year relationship with family friend Sonia and he will continue to betray his wife Yasmeen by sleeping with her once again.

Although Sharif has been firm with Sonia over his decision to focus on his marriage, he will fail to resist temptation when she plays the sympathy card. And his decision could have big repercussions.

Sonia will be consumed with jealousy when Sharif takes Yasmeen out for a romantic lunch and will later confide in the pair over her own failed marriage.

Despite Sharif's obvious discomfort over Yasmeen comforting Sonia, he later finds himself tempted when he finds himself alone at home with his former mistress.

Sharif will be guilt-ridden after sleeping with Sonia but when she starts criticising Yasmeen's taste, he loses his cool and forbids her from mocking his wife.

Sonia's chastened but as Sharif places a hand on her back, Alya Nazir walks in and clocks their intimacy. Does she know their secret?

Do people who continue defending Todd realize that Todd has the evidence he needs to expose Phelan, yet he's choosing not to? Doesn't sound like he's only pretending. And to people saying he must be pretending as he would wouldn't rip off his family, it says in the spoilers "he'll happily fleece the neighbours but Eileen and Jason mustn't loose a penny!". Honestly i'm 60/40 on the matter because although the evidence mounts up to him not really pretending, in soapland it can go either way. He may even choose to expose Phelan after the neighbours have already been ripped off. who knows. I know it sounds like i'm hating on Tod but i'm not as I honestly do hope he is only pretending or atleast changes his mind before it's to late.

I've seen the new spoiler pictures. They're as depressing as I imagined. One thing gives me a small hope though, Todd stops talking to Alex because Billy looks on. Yeah, I know it said Todd had doubts before that, but it was Billy's disapproving looks that made him stop. He still cares about what he thinks.

You're right. I can't defend him after what he did, and that says a lot coming from me. I'm just mostly upset the writers decided to go there with him. He has made so much progress lately. He was basically redeemed before the writers decided to do a 180 and completely destroy all the progress he has made. I don't understand why they couldn't just continue with the character growth and have him use his manipulative side for good, i.e. taking down Phelan. But this sadly does not surprise me, considering this is Kate Oates we're talking about here. She made Robert on Emmerdale into a complete psycho. I expected nothing less from her when it comes to Todd. I knew it was a bad sign when she said she was fascinated by his "dark side" back in July. I just knew she would ruin everything because she doesn't give a damn about character development. All she cares about is shocking twists and stunts so she can spike the ratings. I'd much rather go back to the old Corrie, that had real emotional and believable storylines, and characters you could actually relate to and root for, than this stupid dreck, but whatever. Kate Oates lost at least one viewer by reverting Todd back to his selfish manipulative self. He was my favorite character. It just hurts to see him go down this path again after improving so much over the last few months. I just can't watch anymore. I don't understand why they would do this instead of having him evolve even more as a character, but whatever. Right now I'm pissed off at the writers for ruining my favorite character and pissed off at Todd for being an idiot. I know Todd is not perfect and he never will be, but this is a new low, even for him. It's not something I can defend, I'm talking about both calling the bishop and him teaming up with Phelan. I'm disappointed, hurt, frustrated, angry.. you name it. Oh well. I'll just have to stop watching I guess. It was fun while it lasted though, it was nice to see Todd improve himself, and I will never forget that, despite how much Kate Oates try to destroy him.

I think the worst he did was split up Jason and Eva. I was'nt bothered when he made a fool of us mum via the Internet . She was prepared to two time her bloke at the time. I believe he will do good in the end somehow. Ultimately he does have some good in him...just a troubled mixed up character. With Eileen as a mum who can blame him. I know that's harsh. I do not like her at the moment.

It's nice to see he feels guilty about Alex especially when he sees Billy watching on in disapproval. I hope he goes back to Rita, says it's a scam and apologises but as you said, this is Kate Oates we're talking about so it's most likely that won't happen.

Despite all these annoying sad spoilers I still genuinely believe Todd hasn't played Billy and does care and love him. Todd put to much on the line I.e his relationship with Sean, his relationship with his mother etc for Billy despite knowing they might both disapprove and hate him for it so I personally think Todd wouldn't be stupid enough to risk all that for the sake of playing Billy. Also the fact he still cares what Billy thinks of him even know they have spilt up shows he still cares and has hope for them. He probably joins Phelan to get over the sting of Billy leaving him and to hurt people the way he is hurting. Maybe Todd, Phelan and Vinny will all end up in over there heads with this deal... If anyone can win Todd round from the dark side again its Billy who will still probably care for Todd, as he is a caring person, despite feeling betrayed by Todd calling the bishop. I wanna find out why Todd rang though because that is one of the main things that will make or break this relationship for me, if he is sorry or it was a mistake I could get over it or he believed it would do more good than bad, but if he did it for his own selfish reasons or to play Billy than that's the end for me as I would never know whats real to Todd anymore...

Monday 1

Todd tells Billy that the police aren't taking him seriously over Phelan's scam, after he wrongly reported Eileen missing. Todd squares up to Phelan and vows to find proof of the building scam to give to the police. Phelan is unnerved by Todd's threats and phones Vinny to warn him.

Phelan calls Todd to invite him for a chat at the development site. However, when Phelan spots the contents of Vinny's holdall at the site, he is alarmed to realise the lengths to which Vinny is prepared to go to silence Todd...

Meanwhile, when Todd leaves his phone in The Rovers, Sean answers a call and is shocked when it's the bishop on the other end. What could it mean?

Elsewhere, Cathy promises to raise a £15,000 reservation fee so that Alex can move into one of the flats, despite Anna warning that it's bound be dodgy if Phelan is involved.

Also, Sonia suggests to Sharif that they should make the most of the empty house when they're left alone. Will Sharif be able to resist temptation?

Finally, Audrey rebukes Freddie for abandoning her in the middle of their date, while Beth begs Kirk to come home.

Cathy Matthews is convinced by Eileen Grimshaw and ignores Anna Windass's warnings about Phelan in Coronation Street.

Monday 2

Billy is shocked to realise that Todd was the one who tipped off the bishop. Todd claims that he merely set Billy free from a religion that wouldn't accept the real him. Billy is furious and ends his relationship with Todd.

Later, Vinny and Phelan are gobsmacked when Todd turns up at the site and announces that he wants in on the deal, declaring that he's reverting to type following Billy's rejection. Back on the dark side, he'll happily fleece the neighbours - but he stipulates that Eileen and Jason mustn't lose a penny or he will scupper the project. Will Phelan and Vinny agree?

Meanwhile, Yasmeen drives Cathy to Alex's dad Nigel's house. But when Cathy knocks on the door, a hostile Nigel refuses to discuss Alex and slams it in her face.

Elsewhere, Sharif is guilt-ridden after sleeping with Sonia and it doesn't take long for Alya to notice their intimacy.

Also, Aidan is impressed by by Alya and Sinead's old sideline designs when he finds the drawings at Underworld, while Audrey tells Freddie they should just stay friends while he's still grieving.

Wednesday

Cathy is preoccupied following recent events and Roy realises that she may have forgotten his birthday.

When Cathy returns to Nigel's house, she refuses to be fobbed off and forces her way inside. She rants at Nigel for deserting Alex as a child and scoffs at the measly allowance he sends. Nigel snaps and darkly suggests she looks into the source of the payments. Refusing to elaborate, Nigel throws Cathy out.

At the same time, realising Cathy really has forgotten, Anna, Alex and Ken arrange a party for Roy at the café, intending to let Cathy take the credit. However, when Cathy turns up, she's the one who's clearly surprised by the party taking place. Roy hides his hurt that she forgot his birthday.

Rattled by Nigel's words, Cathy rifles through Alex's bank statements. Cathy informs Yasmeen that Alex's allowance payments carry a strange reference, which have made her wonder whether Nigel is Alex's dad or not...

Meanwhile, Phelan coaches Todd in selling the vision of the new flats, supplying him with a glossy brochure to impress the punters. Todd is uncomfortable when Phelan gets him to target Alex. When he sees Billy watching with disapproval, a guilty Todd abandons his sales pitch. However, Phelan warns Todd that if their venture fails, it's Jason and Eileen who will lose out.

Elsewhere, Alya admits to Zeedan and Rana that she's worried about Sonia and Sharif flirting.

Also today, Alya is thrilled when Aidan expresses interest in reviving her sideline project, Kevin encourages Freddie to follow his heart when it comes to Audrey, while Mary offers to replace Todd in the flower shop.

When Nigel ignores her messages, a furious Cathy leaves Alex in charge of the café and storms out. Roy finds the café in chaos with Alex yelping in agony, having scalded his arm, and takes him to A&E.

Later at Nigel's house, Cathy bangs on the window, demanding the truth about Alex. As Cathy sits outside his house refusing to budge, Nigel caves and invites her inside. Cathy asks Nigel outright if Alex is his son. Will she get the answer she fears?

Meanwhile, Alya tells Sonia that she's outstayed her welcome at Number 6, but Sonia is shocked by her bluntness. When Sonia reveals that Alya seems to be onto them, Sharif decides it's time she moved out. Sensing his panic, a devious Sonia suggests he buys one of Phelan's flats for her.

Later, Sharif confronts Alya about her outburst. Alya is unrepentant, telling her granddad that Sonia clearly fancies him. Sharif's unnerved by how near she is to the truth and agrees to convince Yasmeen that buying a flat is a sound investment for them - and Sonia can rent somewhere else while it's being built.

Elsewhere, Aidan is impressed when Alya and Sinead excitedly outline their bespoke design ideas, but Johnny will take more convincing.

Also, Erica takes charge of Aadi and Asha for the day as Mary is busy at the florist's, but they vow to get Mary back when Erica is too strict.

Finally, Freddie is disappointed when Audrey turns down his invitation to lunch.

Friday 2

With the truth about Alex's paternity now out in the open, Cathy is in shock as Nigel explains how he found out he isn't Alex's father. He apologises to Cathy for keeping her in the dark.

Back at the cafe, Roy returns with Alex. Baffled by Cathy's foul mood, he demands to know why she walked out. As Cathy explains all to Roy, his calm approach doesn't help and she blasts Roy for his lack of understanding. As she storms upstairs, Roy feels like a stranger in his own home and glances sadly at a photo of Hayley.

Meanwhile, Yasmeen and Sharif inform Alya of their plan to invest in a flat and rent it to Sonia. Alya sneers at Sonia's manipulation and Yasmeen is confused by her rudeness.

When Alya refuses to drop her suspicions, Sharif lies and claims that he slept with Sonia once, years ago. A stunned Alya works out that Sharif is buying Sonia's silence by setting her up in a flat. Sharif admits it, but insists he loves Yasmeen and begs Alya not to betray his secret. Will she agree to keep quiet?

Elsewhere, when Alya's vintage designs impress a client, Aidan offers Alya and Sinead a £60 bonus each. Sinead is pleased but Alya furiously accuses Aidan of ripping her off.

Also, Freddie calls at the salon on his motorbike and asks Audrey to join him for a romantic country pub lunch.

Finally, Dev tells Mary that she's breaking the terms of her contract by letting Erica cover her duties.

Does the Phelan story make any sense?

The Nazir affair is ridiculous and I don't care about Cathy.

Does the Phelan story make any sense?
The whole storyline is rushed and badly done, so no. But since when has that stopped Kate Oates before?

Me too - especially Peter. It's such a shame Carla's not coming back. Her and Peter made a great couple, despite the cheating. Plus there's the friendship she has with Roy.

I'm upset they are making Todd quit the flower shop. I get it, it makes sense. He has to devote his time to Phelan's scam, but I still don't like it. I loved Todd working in the flower shop. It showed his softer side, and he was good at it too. He was good with the customers. Also.. I love Todd and Tracy's friendship, so I hope this isn't the last we'll see of that.
