Meanwhile, over-worked Morven is disappointed when she has to discharge patient Roberta Blake, a homeless woman with a drink problem. She receives one more blow when she hears that another patient, Anne Fitzgerald, is unlikely to survive her injuries from an accident.
Rattled by her emotional and physical reaction to Anne's plight, Morven reluctantly agrees to go home after some encouragement from Fletch. Keen not to be alone in the flat, Morven uses her time off to do some volunteer work at the local homeless shelter she's been helping at since Arthur's death.
On arriving, she meets an eager and charming Cameron, who reveals that he used to be a med student but bailed out before becoming an F1. Roberta arrives for lunch and when she accidentally drops a birthday card, Morven discovers that Roberta has a daughter she abandoned decades ago.
When Morven helps Roberta find her daughter's social media profile they discover Roberta is a grandmother, but Roberta gets upset and leaves. Morven emails Roberta's daughter and is still hopeful of a reconciliation, but Cameron warns her to be careful getting so involved with someone else's life. Is she doing the right thing?
