She might have spent most of her career tackling crime on The Bill, but Lisa Maxwell has landed a new role on Hollyoaks as a mobster's wife.

The actress has been signed up to star on the Channel 4 soap as Tracey, the ex-wife of gangster Fraser Black.

As The Sun reports, her new character is also the mother of Grace Black (Tamara Wall) and her arrival in Chester could spell disaster for her family.

Tracey is set to reveal a shocking secret on the show, which could mean bad news for Grace's half-brothers Liam, Adam and Jesse Donovan.

Lisa starred as on The Bill as DI Samantha Dixon between 2002 and 2009, and was also a Loose Women panelist for five years.

Lisa Maxwell has revealed how long she plans to stay on the show.

Earlier this year, show bosses announced that they had cast the actress and former Loose Women panellist as Tracey, who's the troublesome mum of Grace Black and the three Donovan brothers.

However, it was later revealed that Tracey wasn't joining on a full time basis, and would instead be a returning guest character.

And sure enough, she didn't stick around in Chester all that long before. But she will be back to cause more trouble this fortnight as part of a big new storyline for the Donovan family.

When discussing how long she is planning to stay during a chat with Inside Soap, Lisa said: "Basically until they kick me out!

"Hollyoaks suits me so well, and my work-life balance is brilliant. I don't want to work too hard! I live in the Cotswolds now and like to spend my time gardening. It's very levelling - gardening is the best way to counter-balance all the madness that happens on a soap."

But Lisa was remaining tight-lipped when it came to discussing what Tracey would be getting up to during her next trip to the village.

"It's a really good story! And like all clever storylines, it's going to unravel at a nice pace. Tracey isn't the most stable person, and Grace is worried that she might lose the plot a bit and blab their secret, so Grace is keen to get rid of Tracey."
