EastEnders fans will meet newcomer Alison Slater next month - and she's played by a very familiar face.

Former Coronation Street star Denise Welch has taken on the role of Alison, who's the mother of Stacey's half-brother Kyle.

Alison arrives after Kyle (Riley Carter Millington) opens up further to Stacey over his past, admitting that he prefers his new life living on Albert Square but also really misses his mum.

Determined to help, Stacey (Lacey Turner) calls Alison and invites her to pay a visit to Walford the next day - but it's a nervewracking prospect for Kyle as his mum hasn't seen him since he transitioned.

Kyle's anxiety continues to get the better of him the next day, as he is nowhere to be found when Alison arrives at Stacey's house.

Left alone with Alison, things get awkward for Stacey when the topic of her father Brian comes up - so it's a welcome relief when Kyle finally plucks up the courage to appear.

Kyle has bought some flowers as a present for his mum, but how will she react to seeing him for the first time since he transitioned from his old life as Sarah?

Monday

Sonia is stunned after Soph's confession that she slept with Tina, so she kicks both of them out. When Mick spots the commotion, he urges Sonia to give Tina a chance to explain. After Mick leaves, the pair argue - but Tina explains her feelings and they quickly make amends.

Later, when Bex returns home, Sonia tells her about the lump she's found...

Meanwhile, Stacey assures Kyle that she hasn't revealed his secret. Despite this, Andy realises the truth about Kyle's past for himself in a conversation with Stacey. Jack notices how close Andy is getting to Stacey and advises him to stay away.

Later, Stacey arrives home to find Soph storming off following an argument with Kyle. Stacey encourages Kyle to open up and he admits how much he misses his mum. Stacey takes matters into her own hands and later tells Kyle that she's called his mum Alison and she'll be paying a visit tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Carmel spots Masood on his second date with Laura.

Also today, Ian is fuming when he learns of Buster's plan to stop the CostMart deal.


Tuesday

Alison arrives on Albert Square but a nervous Kyle is nowhere to be found. This leaves an anxious Stacey alone with Alison and things get awkward when Brian is brought up.

Later, Kyle finally turns up with flowers for his mum, but how will she react to seeing him for the first time since he transitioned?

Meanwhile, Stacey is delighted when Martin returns home. Once Martin is alone, he is confronted by Andy who tells him that he knows he was fired from the job and questions where his money is coming from.

Elsewhere, Tina accompanies Sonia to her doctor's appointment, where Sonia is given a referral to see a specialist. Back in the Square, it all gets too much for Sonia and she breaks down in Dot's arms.


Wednesday

Hour-long double episode

Ronnie receives a shock visit from Tim, who's looking for Hannah as she's gone missing on the day of her court hearing. Jack advises Ronnie to stay out of it, but once Hannah is found, Ronnie tells Jack that she wants to go to the hearing. Later on, Sharon, Ronnie and Jack are stunned when Roxy turns up on the doorstep unexpectedly.

Ronnie tries to get to the bottom of what's been going on with Roxy and turns to Glenda for help. Ronnie soon makes an upsetting discovery, but can she help her sister?

Meanwhile, Carmel's son Shakil arrives in Walford and tells Carmel that Umar is coming to see her as he wants to get back together. Despite her doubts, Carmel tells Shakil that she'll meet Umar at The Vic but is disappointed when he fails to show.

It doesn't take long for Kush to realise that Shakil is up to something and he soon learns the truth. Once Carmel also finds out what's going on, she gets upset and tells Shakil to leave - but she eventually realises that her son needs her and tells him that he can stay in Walford.

Elsewhere, Andy lets slip to Stacey that Martin was fired from his job after two days, leaving Stacey wondering what he's been up to. As Belinda hosts an underwear party at Stacey's, Martin is confronted by Stacey and is forced to admit the truth in front of everyone.

Martin turns to Andy for help with money, but when he is offered a dodgy job, he reaches out to Ian instead and gets his old job on the stall. Desperate to give Stacey the wedding of her dreams, Martin later takes Andy up on his earlier offer, but what is he getting himself into?

Also today, Sonia is delighted when she discovers her lump has gone, but Tina insists she should still go to her appointment. Shirley also encourages Sonia to go for Tina's sake.

Later, a guilty Jane and Ian tell Tina they no longer need her to work at the cafe as they will have more time. After learning the petition for the CostMart has been denied, Tina comes up with an idea to stop Ian from selling Beale's.


Thursday

​Ronnie doubts that Glenda is telling the full truth about Roxy.

In response, Glenda becomes more determined than ever to earn Ronnie's trust and be a part of her life again.

Meanwhile, Pam remains suspicious of Les's behaviour and soon makes an upsetting discovery.
