Jamie Lawson to guest in Neighbours

Jamie Lawson will turn his attention away from music to try his hand at a spot of acting on Neighbours.

The 'Wasn't Expecting That' singer will have a small role in the soap later this year.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Lawson said: "Neighbours is such an institution back home.

"It's pretty weird to be hanging out at Harold's coffee shop and see all these places."

Lawson, who is signed to Ed Sheeran's label Gingerbread Man Records​, tweeted about the news, saying: "Coolest thing ever!!!"

Meanwhile, Lawson recently reached number one in the UK with his debut album, and has also been nominated for an Ivor Novello award.​

JAMIE LAWSON TO APPEAR ON NEIGHBOURS

UK singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson, the impact of his hit single Wasn’t Expecting That continues to provide opportunities he wasn’t expecting, including a cameo role on Neighbours, which he filmed earlier this week in Melbourne.

A long-time fan of the show, Jamie performs a ballad from his chart-topping self-titled album, his first under Ed Sheeran’s label, Gingerbread Man Records.

“I’ve watched Neighbours for years and have always been a fan of Toadie (Ryan Molony) and Stefan Dennis is a legend, a larger-than-life character,” said Jamie, who is currently touring Australia.

While producers are tight-lipped about the acclaimed musician’s appearance, word on television’s most famous street is that his Neighbours debut will bring together two of the show’s love-struck characters.

Jamie’s episode will air in coming months on Channel 5.

I also hope it's Paul and Terese. Buy I think they currently film about 3- 4 months in advance. Then hopefully we should see him earlier than that.
