View Full Version : Corrie 2016
Coronation Street bosses are promising some dramatic times ahead at the factory with the release of this new teaser picture.
It'll be all change at Underworld over the coming weeks as Carla Connor makes her dramatic departure from the cobbles, leaving her father Johnny and half-brother Aidan to fully take over the business.
There are plenty of tears and turmoil ahead for Carla before she goes, as her nemesis Tracy Barlow will resume her attempts to blackmail her.
Still armed with the knowledge of Carla's one-night stand with Robert Preston, Tracy holds all the cards despite her recent promises to back off. With Carla's wedding to Nick Tilsley fast approaching, it's surely only a matter of time before their fragile happiness is destroyed.

Once Carla is gone, Aidan's girlfriend Eva Price will remain closely involved at Underworld as their relationship continues to blossom, while Johnny also has his eye on a member of staff in the form of Jenny Bradley. Given her colourful history, could Jenny spark even more drama?
Aidan's sister Kate isn't safe from potential fireworks either, as she finds herself wondering who is the right girl for her following her recent kiss with Sophie Webster. As her own wedding to Caz Hammond draws nearer, Kate will have to make a final choice between her friend and her fiancée.
It's not just the Connors themselves who'll be taking centre stage, as Izzy Armstrong's cannabis storyline also continues. Izzy is currently using the drug for pain relief, but when the law catches up with her once again, her future at Underworld could be called into question.
Sean Tully's happy relationship with Billy Mayhew looks set to be rocked when a mysterious face from the local vicar's past arrives on the cobbles. It soon becomes clear that Billy has secrets that he desperately wants to hold onto, but could they mark the end for him and Sean?

Fiz Stape is one Weatherfield resident who needs to concentrate on work more than most, as her debts are still piling up at home. As the financial pressure remains a worry, could this tear her apart from her loveable partner Tyrone Dobbs?
Things are looking brighter for Sinead Tinker as she continues to live out her modelling dream at Underworld, with support from her auntie Beth. She clearly loves her new career, but with her boyfriend Chesney Brown growing increasingly jealous, could this put a dampener on things?

Alya Nazir's ambitious streak will also re-emerge following Carla's departure as she harbours hopes of stepping into her shoes. Does she have what it takes to succeed, or will Underworld remain strictly a family affair for the close-knit Connors?
It's not all doom and gloom, as the antics of Sally Metcalfe are sure to raise a smile - at least for the viewers. Now that she's been elected as a local councillor, Sally's snobbery will reach new heights - but could this lead to tensions at work and put pressure on her marriage to Tim? Either way, her behaviour is sure to raise a few chuckles among fans.

CORONATION STREET
His first, his last, his everything?
Nick is at rock bottom after his disastrous wedding to Carla, but could Leanne get him smiling again? As she vies to win him back the Bistro from Robert, the ex-couple become closer, and Nick's old feelings for the single mum are reignited. Will it be happy ever after or will competition get in the way?
Kylie's dilemma
Sarah Platt is heading for her lowest ebb in a few weeks when she is kidnapped by Billy's brother, Lee. Sarah manages to escape Lee's clutches, but she's clearly not well, which leaves David and Kylie in a tricky situation. Will the pair put Sarah's health first? And if they do, where does that leave their killer secret?
At death’s door
As well as being heartless most of the time, Tracy Barlow is also a kidney down, so it's literally a life or death situation when her sole kidney develops an infection and she is rushed to hospital. But what really hurts is when she comes round, and discovers that daughter Amy is refusing to visit her. Will her daughter's cold shoulder treatment convince toxic Tracy to change her wicked ways?
Also this Summer…
• Jason decides to leave the street for his own safety when his van is torched
• Callum's murder storyline reaches a dramatic climax and Kylie leaves the cobbles for good - will she be leaving the street in

the line before it's too late?

Are we heading for a Nick/Leanne/Robert love triangle. I really hope not. Although could add Steve to the mix. Hardly have any scenes and they sleep together. Don't buy it
Wonder how long Phelan can go on before he gets his comeuppance.
Jason's exit sounds pretty lame
Can't say I'm a fan of Caz. Sounds pretty obvious she's controlling Kate
Agree. Its the same with billy, we hav'nt seen him falling for Todd it just comes out of the blue
Agree. Its the same with billy, we hav'nt seen him falling for Todd it just comes out of the blue
Daniel Brocklebank said in a recent interview posted on another thread that he's deliberately not followed stage directions that would have made it more obvious Billy was falling for Todd because he thought it would be out of character for him to flirt. I agree with him and think it was a good choice.
Even so, I think it's been obvious from their recent growing closeness and the way Billy has looked at Todd once or twice that there are feelings there.
With Kylie Platt currently involved in Corrie's biggest ongoing story, you can bet that she won't be leaving the cobbles quietly. Paula Lane announced her decision to quit back in February and filmed her final scenes this week, but mystery still surrounds the big question of exactly how she'll go.
Kylie has so far managed to escape much police scrutiny in the Callum murder saga, despite the fact that she struck the fatal blow. But with the police now closing in on the Platts again, will Kylie have to confess? Will she leave David and go on the run? Or will there be another twist to the tale? One thing's for sure - Kylie will be leaving our screens next month, so there's not long to go now...
2. Jason's (slightly less dramatic) exit
If truth be told, Jason Grimshaw's departure from Weatherfield is sounding pretty low-key - but we're still eager to see exactly how the show's producers have handled Ryan Thomas's final scenes as the popular builder. He has been on the Street for a whopping 15 years, after all.
Jason is horrified next week when "someone" sets fire to his van, leaving him fearful that Callum Logan's cronies are out to get him. In reality, scheming Phelan is behind the arson attack, hoping that he can scare Jason away and take over his business interests.
Proving to be the ultimate puppetmaster, Phelan manages to convince Jason to start a whole new life in Thailand... all in the space of an episode. Hmm, we reckon it'll be the emotional goodbyes between Jason, Todd and Eileen that make this one a must-watch.
3. Phelan's next target revealed?
Jason's surprise exit leaves Phelan triumphant as the path seems clear for him to get up to all kinds of dodgy dealings as he takes over the day-to-day running of the business. Fans can expect fresh tensions to erupt between Phelan and Michael Rodwell next month as Phelan's new position of power fuels their animosity, but it'll take more than Michael's protestations to stop Weatherfield's biggest rotter now.
As Phelan starts empire-building over the coming weeks, we can reveal that he'll also have councillor Sally Metcalfe in his sights as part of his plans. But what exactly does he have in store for her?
4. Bethany's bullies return
Corrie's teen bullying story has gone on the backburner in recent weeks, but we can confirm that the show definitely hasn't forgotten about the sad plot.
The summer months will see ringleader Lauren return to our screens with her equally nasty friends, heaping fresh misery on poor Bethany. Bethany is already distressed enough about her mum Sarah receiving treatment in a psychiatric unit, but as her ordeal escalates, there'll be far-reaching consequences for the troubled teen. With Sarah away, will Bethany have to suffer in silence?
5. Leanne's mystery pregnancy
After a quieter time since her domestic abuse ordeal with Simon came to an end, Leanne will be returning to the forefront of the drama this summer as she has a one-night stand with a mystery man and ends up pregnant.
Initial tabloid reports surrounding this storyline pointed the finger at one surprising guy in particular, but it turns out that there are actually several men in the frame – leaving us with a guessing game reminiscent of Kat Moon's mystery lover plot in EastEnders.
Thankfully, this one stays as a one-night stand rather than being dragged out for too long, but will Leanne keep the baby? How will her mystery guy feel about fatherhood? And how on earth would wayward Simon react to the prospect of a new brother or sister?
6. Billy chooses between Sean and Todd
Billy is currently facing an agonising choice between his heart and his head, as he finds himself torn between Todd and Sean. The vicar has already confessed his feelings for Todd, and he'll find it almost impossible to resist giving into temptation next month as the romantic spark between them refuses to go away.
Not one to be a love cheat, Billy also feels a huge amount of loyalty towards his current partner Sean. But when it comes to the crunch and he finally has to make a decision, who will he choose?
7. Kate rumbles Caz's secret
Kate Connor's possessive partner Caz has been playing her for a fool in recent weeks, pretending to be injured in a desperate bid to win sympathy from her. Sophie and Luke have both smelled a rat when it comes to Caz's claims, but kind-hearted Kate has been well and truly taken in by her girlfriend – until now.
Dramatic scenes airing next month will see Kate finally realise that Caz has been lying all along, but her discovery only serves to unleash an even darker side to Caz. How will Kate react to her partner's true colours? Could this push her closer to Sophie?
8. Tracy's future is revealed
We've almost (yes, almost) felt sorry for Tracy Barlow these past few weeks as she's been frozen out by everyone following her destructive actions at Carla and Nick's wedding. Next week's episodes see karma continue to catch up with Tracy when she suffers a shock health scare and collapses in the ginnel.
Tracy's family struggle to muster up much sympathy even after she's diagnosed with a severe kidney infection (have a heart, Ken!), but surely that can't go on forever? We'll find out soon whether Amy and Ken can forgive her, and whether Robert is willing to throw caution to the wind by giving Toxic Trace another chance too.
9. A new villain joins the cobbles
Corrie bosses have announced the casting of former Emmerdale star Ian Kelsey as newcomer Vinny, an old associate of Phelan who'll be joining the cobbles next month.
As Phelan ploughs on with his big plans for Jason's business, he brings Vinny on board to help him. Exactly what the pair will be getting up to remains a secret for now, but there's bound to be double trouble for the Street's residents with both of them on the scene.
10. Michelle and Steve fight for their future
The McDonalds have spent the last few weeks well and truly on the rocks following the big revelation of Michelle's (admittedly brief) infidelity with Will.
The good news for fans of the couple is that they will get back together soon. And with Kym Marsh on a new 12-month contract, we don't have to be worried about Michelle changing her mind about that cruise ship job. But just how easy will it be for Michelle and Steve to rebuild their marriage and get things back on track?
11. Sarah's recovery
Sarah is now thankfully receiving the help she needs in a psychiatric unit after the pressure of Callum's murder cover-up pushed her completely to the edge.
There are no quick and easy solutions for Sarah as she'll be remaining in the clinic for a while, but we'll still see her appear on our screens when her family pay visits. Still jittery about Callum and her irrational fears that he could still be alive, does Sarah still have a long way to go before she gets fully better?
12. Romance twists rock the cobbles
Corrie bosses are keeping slightly more tight-lipped about this one, but one final tease for the summer months is that secret affairs will be causing a huge stir on the Street.
Who'll be getting together, and could there be heartbreak in store as the new pairings develop?

Why oh why do the powers that be at Corrie keep pushing for us to root for this pair? I've never seen or heard any enthusiastic support for the couple from Corrie fans. It's time to put Steve back with someone with whom he shares chemistry instead of constantly trying to sell him and Michelle as an iconic couple. :wall:

Yes thinking about when Steve dumped Michelle for Becky why are we supposed to believe now she's the love of his life? I don't really buy it. I've never been that keen on Michelle generally. Steve works best with feisty women to bounce off of going back to my favourite relationships of his : Karen - her & Becky both very different but had more about them than drippy Michelle. I think Corrie just don't know what else to do with her & they want to keep Kym Marsh on the show.

I think you've hit the nail on the head that they don't know what else to do with Michelle. It's obvious from the constant (and incredibly annoying) bigging up of the character and her looks that the Corrie bosses know fans generally dislike or are indifferent to Michelle. They must be determined to keep Kym Marsh because she's a "celebrity" in her own right and they think it's good PR for Corrie. :wall:
The trouble is Michelle's dragging down Steve (who's capable of being an iconic character with better writing) to her level.
Also ridiculous is the way Michelle is suddenly joined at the hip to Maria (a character to whom she's barely given the time of day for years) now Carla's gone and she needs a shoulder to cry on.
of course leanne will keep her miraculous baby by steve

My mum blurted out during an episode after Todd and Billy got together that she read in a magazine Daniel Brocklebank (Billy) was leaving which I pray to God isn't true. Then Antony Cotton said that he's recently been filming some sad scenes so my finger's pointing at Billy.

I pray to God this isn't true. It would be so typical though. We finally get a good gay storyline and it's ripped away from us. BTW, ask her in which magazine she saw this? I'm assuming there would be some buzz online about his leaving, especially now after Todd and Billy got together, but I haven't seen anything? I'm not saying it isn't true, it might be. And it certainly fits with Antony Cotton filming emotional scenes. Ugh.. I just cannot with this cr*p. IF Dan is leaving I hope it was his own choice. It would suck for Kate to come on and kill a popular gay character. It would be the third gay character getting killed in a short time (second on a British soap). First Paul died on EastEnders, then that gay character on Mr Robot died, and now Billy? I'm so sick of this sh**.

I know, I just forgot it this time, sorry.
She said she read it in one of the soap magazines. I buy Inside Soap and get all the gossip from there but I saw no interview with Dan there. Then she back-tracked and said maybe she got it wrong so here's hoping she is wrong. Plus I looked on the internet to see if I could find out any truth in it but couldn't. I'm just going to have to keep my fingers crossed and hope it's not true.

I'm wondering if she read a spoiler about Billy leaving (with Sean) to London? Or something like that? It would make sense. And then maybe she just got it confused with the actor leaving?

Yeah, it would be an easy mistake to make. It's the only thing I can come up with that would explain it.
It doesn't really match up with Antony Cotton saying he has filmed sad scenes either, because (I may be wrong but) from the spoiler it seemed like the explosion hasn't happened yet? It seemed like it was in the planning stages? So Antony must have been talking about some other scenes, right? The spoiler article was dated 19th July, so fairly new. Besides, it looks like Bruno Langley and Daniel Brocklebank are still filming scenes together, they posted some pics on Twitter. I'm not saying Billy doesn't die in the explosion btw, the character dying could be anybody. I'm just saying that I don't think Antony Cotton was talking about the explosion when he mentioned filming "sad" or "moving" scenes.
I hope you're right because I like Billy. If anyone dies, it should be Phelan or Caz. Oh, thanks Perdita for the welcome.
Could Coronation Street fan favourite Toyah Battersby make a comeback? The show's new boss Kate Oates has hinted that it's pretty tempting.
Tabloid reports at the weekend suggested that Leanne's step-sister could be making a long-awaited Weatherfield return, along with Brian Packman and Daniel Osbourne.
But while it's now been officially confirmed that there are plans to reintroduce Ken's son Daniel, Oates has insisted that nothing is set in stone regarding Toyah just yet.
"It's speculation at the moment, to be honest," Oates said at a Coronation Street press event today (July 22).
"I also love Toyah – I think she's fantastic – and because Leanne has such a big story [with her pregnancy] and Jane is going to be so busy, it is really tempting to see how it all fits together.
"But is just speculation at the moment and it was funny to read that one at the weekend."
Toyah, played by Georgia Taylor, appeared on the show between 1997 and 2003.
Another much-loved Corrie character who will be coming back to the show is Peter Barlow, played by Chris Gascoyne.
And he'll be joined by Adam – who's Mike Baldwin's son and Ken Barlow's grandson – as part of plans to put the Barlow family right at the heart of the soap.

Coronation Street is lining up an explosive few months as affairs, death and baby secrets threaten to destroy lives and wreck marriages.
A brand new promo image teases the action in store for the rest of the summer and heading into autumn, but one thing is for sure - it won't all be hearts and flowers in Weatherfield.
Hapless Steve McDonald has been in some scrapes in the past, but this time he is faced with the daddy of all problems after tonight's episode saw him unveiled as the father of Leanne's baby.
The pair had an ill-advised one-night stand a few weeks ago, but with his marriage to Michelle back on track, Steve will be left in turmoil when, she too, announces she's having his child.
As the two women bond over their baby news, the big question is whether Steve will be able to keep his illegitimate child from Michelle, or if this is one hurdle the pair won't be able to overcome.
Over at the factory, Eva is keen to take things to the next level by setting up home with Aidan, but her plans will push him into the arms and bed of her friend, Maria.
However, when Maria's new friendship with Caz takes a sinister turn, it is Aidan and Eva who are there for her - but how will Eva feel if she ever finds out about Maria's fling with her boyfriend?

After seeing what she did over on Emmerdale, I did not
If you've been following our Coronation Street news closely, you'll know that new producer Kate Oates set out her vision for the show's future at a press event last week – and it sounds like the soap is well and truly on the up again.
Eagle-eyed fans have already noticed some positive changes creeping in to Corrie recently as Kylie Platt's death episodes went down a storm, but the best is yet to come as new storylines and cast changes start to play out on screen. If you've missed any of the big announcements or just want some extra gossip, here's our handy guide to what's coming up.
1. Peter Barlow's return
By far the biggest Corrie announcement is the welcome return of Chris Gascoyne as Peter Barlow, who'll be arriving back home in Weatherfield later this year. Drama always follows Peter and although he intends this to just be a flying visit, he'll actually be back permanently.
"When he returns, he also may not be completely honest," Kate teased. "But something will happen when he arrives which is unexpected and means he has to stay – or wants to stay."
And with Kate promising another messy romantic storyline for Peter, it sounds like he'll be back to his very best – or should that be worst?
2. Adam Barlow and Daniel Osborne return too
Peter's comeback is just one part of a bigger aim to make the Barlows much more of a major force in Corrie again. With this in mind, Kate has also made the decision to bring back another of Ken's sons, Daniel Osbourne, as well as Ken's grandson Adam.
Casting details for the pair have yet to be confirmed, but it's thought that producers are already well on the way to picking their two actors. We all know that strong female characters are part of Corrie's DNA and this won't be changing, but word on the Street is that Daniel and Adam will be tipping the scales slightly by bringing some alpha-male energy with them.
"I think having that strong family dynasty – the first family on the soap, as it were – here, big, strong and sending ripples through the Street, is really exciting, and I am really looking forward to seeing that," Kate said.
3. Phelan gets nastier
Were rumours of Pat Phelan's comeuppance greatly exaggerated? Kate has hinted that his story actually has a long, long way to go yet – with the next chapter being opened when his old acquaintance Vinny pays a visit to the cobbles next week.
Phelan and Vinny will be trying to con the local residents by selling them properties in a new development, which will never actually be built. It seems that Phelan will stop at nothing to see this plan through, and when quizzed on whether he could ultimately become the Street's next killer, Kate certainly wasn't ruling it out.
"I want to see that as a journey, because Phelan isn't a character who's killed anybody to our knowledge," Kate said. "If that kind of thing was to come his way, I'd want to see the pressures on the man that would bring about that change." His enemies Todd and Michael may want to be on their guard...
4. Kylie's death sparks major drama
The Barlows may be coming to the Corrie forefront again, but that doesn't mean the Platts will be forgotten in the aftermath of Kylie's death. In fact, they have one of the biggest stories coming up in the autumn as David's simmering rage over his beloved wife's death starts to have a major effect on those around him.
But perhaps even more exciting than that was Kate promising that Gail will really be stepping up to support her loved ones in their time of need. "I'm looking forward to seeing Gail step up and being really strong. I'm also looking forward to seeing that family close ranks and be strong," Kate said. Music to our ears, as Gail is at her best when she's coming out fighting for her family... and not simpering over ice cream flavours with Michael.
5. Shock stunt
Tabloid reports have suggested that a big explosion will be hitting the cobbles later this year, and while that hasn't been officially confirmed just yet, Kate did reveal that there will be a big stunt of some sort this autumn. The on-screen spectacle is expected to tie in with the Platts' ongoing storyline, as David struggles to come to terms with Kylie's death.
"We are going to have a nice big stunt coming up in the autumn. It's traditional, you know," Kate laughed. "That will possibly be tied up with the Platts' story."
And we'd put our money on that stunt airing in October, when ITV brings us a 'Super Soap Week' which sees explosive storylines in both Corrie and Emmerdale coming to a head in dramatic style.
6. Long-running stories
Two of the juicy new stories revealed at the press event look set to be long-runners for Corrie. It's now been confirmed that Michelle Connor will indeed get pregnant with her husband Steve McDonald's baby, blissfully unaware that he's also expecting a child with Leanne Battersby.
Aidan Connor will also make a terrible mistake when he cheats on Eva Price with Maria, who seems very reluctant to let go in the aftermath.
Both of these plots are expected to run for a long while, with various twists and turns along the way. But you don't have to worry about them becoming boring, either. Crucially, Kate also spoke about the importance of splitting long stories into distinctive chapters so they don't feel repetitive. So, fingers crossed, we should avoid a repeat of the never-ending Tracy/Carla revenge saga...
7. Toyah COULD still return
Despite the recent tabloid rumours, one character who wasn't announced as a Weatherfield returnee was Leanne's stepsister Toyah. But Kate wasn't ruling this out completely – perhaps a hint that she could be trying to lure Georgia Taylor back to the show behind closed doors.
"I also love Toyah – I think she's fantastic – and because Leanne has such a big story [with her pregnancy] and Jane is going to be so busy, it is really tempting to see how it all fits together," Kate said. "But it is just speculation at the moment." We're keeping our fingers crossed...
8. Corrie is getting bigger
Kate also confirmed that Corrie will be getting bigger and better over the next year, as the show builds up to its increased output of six episodes a week from autumn 2017. Not only will the current base be expanded to introduce new sets and studio space, we'll see some exciting new characters hitting the cobbles too.
"There will be some changes," Kate confirmed. "We're looking at building some new studio space here and I'm looking at new characters anyway, just for balance and the general ongoing health of the show. It's making sure the show is in a great place for when we go to six a week."
9. Character shake-ups
Weatherfield should always be a busy and bustling community, so it's a shame when some of our favourite characters never seem to interact. But fans are likely to notice a change here too, as some of our favourites break out of their current character groups and interact with new people.
We've already seen reformed bad girl Gemma Winter sharing scenes with Street legend Rita Tanner – a pairing we never thought we'd see. Ditto Norris Cole and Kirk Sutherland when they moved in together for a while recently.
Gary Windass will also be the unlikely ally who supports Bethany Platt through her bullying ordeal in upcoming scenes. Crikey, at this rate we wouldn't be surprised if Tracy Barlow and Mary Taylor also become BFFs!
10. Corrie's roots haven't been forgotten
All the talk of new characters, stunts and revenge could leave some fans fearing that life on the cobbles is set to change a little too much. But never fear – Kate also made it clear that she's keen to respect the show's roots too.
"Corrie is famous for having the humour and storylines which aren't necessarily about huge character development or huge story arcs, but are just about the minutiae of life and what's funny," Kate said. "Some of the writers have been on the show for such a long time and it runs through their veins." So even if you just watch Corrie to see the likes of Rita and Norris exchanging idle chit-chat, it sounds like you won't be disappointed.

Some good potential here, hope they get it right

I think the following have potentially been got right by Kate Oates:
Peter Barlow's return - as long as Chris is given decent material, unlike the unwatchable Peter/Tina affair... :thumbsdow
Adam Barlow and Daniel Osborne return - as long as they're well cast and there's some decent long-term plans for the characters.
Phelan gets nastier - could go either way...
...one of the biggest stories coming up in the autumn as David's simmering rage over his beloved wife's death starts to have a major effect on those around him - sounds like this could be compelling viewing and Jack P Shepherd always delivers.
The Leanne/Steve/Michelle and Maria/Aidan/Eva storylines - yes, they're all about affairs, but at least these storylines have some unusual twists that could make them engaging if written well (and as I've already made clear, I'm already finding the Leanne pregnancy storyline engaging - if a little farcical :D).
Character shake ups - good idea. Norris and Kirk being recent housemates was unexpectedly entertaining.
Corrie's roots haven't been forgotten - perhaps the most important point in the above article.
I feel quite positive about Corrie's future at the moment.
Whats wrong with that Maria. Somethng not right with her. One minute shes making Tyrone and Fiz's life hell and now shes going to get like that fatal attraction person. Why is she is the show?
If you've been following our Coronation Street news closely, you'll know that new producer Kate Oates set out her vision for the show's future at a press event last week – and it sounds like the soap is well and truly on the up again.
Nothing about Todd and Billy's relationship here. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to more Todd vs Phelan, and hopefully Todd will be able to take Phelan down, but I'd still like to see more of Todd and Billy. Oh well, hopefully we'll see more of them even if it doesn't say so here.

If Todd's going to be heavily involved in the Phelan storyline, then Billy as his partner will also be part of it. I'm sure there'll still be some focus on their relationship because they haven't even slept together yet. However, honeymoon periods are always very short in soapland.
I'm really glad to see Todd getting more screen time. It was only a few short months ago that I complained about his lack of storylines and hoped that Kate Oates would utilise him better.

I agree with everything you said. I said much of the same previously. Their whole storyline literally consisted of getting together and people finding out. Now that everyone knows there is nothing there left to explore. They didn't break up or anything like that, but I have a feeling their "honeymoon phase" is pretty much over, and we'll see less of them as a couple now that the focus will be on other storylines. I feel like they will get more storylines individually, especially Todd and his feud with Phelan. I like Todd a lot though, he's one of my favorite characters, and like you I'm glad he's getting more screen time. Kate Oates first episode will air August 15. As I understand she has some plans for Phelan vs Todd, she commented on Todd and Billy, finding them interesting, good vs bad, but she didn't specify any plans for them. Still, I feel she is intrigued by them, so hopefully she'll give them a few good storylines in the future. Heck, the sex still hasn't happened yet, so that better play out on screen. I don't expect much btw, something similar to what we saw 11 July with Todd and Billy kissing and Todd undressing him then cut to the next day would be fine imo. I feel like we'll know more where this is going after this week. If Todd doesn't tell Billy the truth about Callum's murder then I feel like that will be saved and used for a later storyline. That lie (if Todd lies about it to Billy) might create tension between them later on. Heck, maybe Phelan somehow finds out and uses it against Todd. Anyway, this is all pure speculation. I guess we'll see what happens.

Coronation Street death, horror and blackmail: 10 big spoilers coming up next week
People can be very sneaky in soapland, can’t they? Several Coronation Street characters are showing their more sly sides as Alya Nazir uses Sharif’s affair to her advantage while Todd Grimshaw ends up trapped by Pat Phelan’s scheming. Even Dev Alahan’s kids Asha and Aadi have a scam on the go!
David Platt isn’t exactly being honest either as Audrey and Gail worry for him while Caz seems to be forming a dastardly plot after tragedy hits Maria Connor.
It’s not all bad news though as Bethany finally has a victory and Andy starts work on an interesting new career.
Here are the spoilers for the week commencing Monday 26th September:
1. Alya is disgusted with Sharif over his affair with Sonia but when Aidan points out to her that they would need £14k to get the equipment to bulk produce her designs, she spies an opportunity. But what lengths has Sharif gone to as he presents his granddaughter with a cheque?
2. Beth faces her court appearance and returns home with a community payback sentence. She is gloomier than ever when Kirk and Craig seem no closer to forgiving her. Maria urges her to fight her the men in her life but how much success will she have when she begs to be heard out?
3. Dev is impressed with the twins for their enterprising idea of making flower bouquets and selling them but the wily pair have ulterior motives as they tell Tracy they will stop selling them if she sacks Mary from the flower shop! But will Erica’s discovery about where the flowers are coming from put paid to Asha and Aadi’s little scheme?
4. Steph is bemused when she discovers that Andy has started work on a short horror story and he is miffed by her lack of support.
5. When Alex figures out the truth about his parentage, Cathy does nothing to dissuade his plans to move to Scotland. But when Roy later learns Alex knew all along, he persuades Cathy to stop him from going. Later, Roy sets a wedding date but why does Tyrone have doubts?
6. Billy warns Eileen of his concerns over Todd and Phelan and later, Todd realises how much he loves and wants to be with Billy when they are thrown together in a community project. But will he make his feelings clear?
7. When Sarah has an unexpected windfall, she is keen to invest in one of Phelan’s flats. Todd warns Phelan he will blow the whistle on everything but Phelan responds by issuing a dark threat about what Vinny is capable of. What decision will Todd reach as he fears Sarah losing her cash?
8. Maria is devastated when her family is rocked by a death and Caz wastes no time in being her pillar of support. But when Kirk issues a warning that Caz has developed strong feelings, Maria is forced to tell her she only sees her as a friend. Later, as Maria heads for London, it seems that Caz is forming a plan…
9. After Audrey and Gail make a discovery on David’s phone, he is forced to appease their concerns by agreeing to attend grief counselling. Meanwhile, David’s rage threatens to explode when he learns that Clayton plans to plead guilty to manslaughter for a lesser sentence.
10. Finally, the headteacher praises Bethany for speaking out against bullying as he expels Lauren and she and Sarah are hopeful that the nightmare is finally over.
