Here's a sentence that never ends well: Coronation Street will introduce another new love interest for Liz McDonald next week.
The unlucky-in-love character will catch the eye of a new man when she takes her granddaughter Amy Barlow down to the community centre for her music club.
The latest guy to take a shine to Liz is newcomer Chris (Stephen Casey), but she's initially oblivious to his romantic interest in her as they get talking.
It's only when Chris later sees Liz (Beverley Callard) again and asks her out for a coffee that she puts two and two together, realising that he has designs on her.
Stubborn Liz brushes off Chris's attentions at first, as she doesn't think that he's her type. She only starts to change her mind when Mary Taylor advises her to give him a chance, pointing out that a change in her usual type of man might do her some good.
When Liz finally sits down for a drink with Chris, she eventually starts to warm to him - but there's just one problem. He's wrongly assumed that she's Amy's mother rather than grandma and she's let him believe it.

Mary and Eva Price both play along with the deception for Liz's sake, but Amy herself proves more of a problem when she playfully blackmails Liz for money in exchange for her silence.
It seems that Liz is now going to greater lengths to stay in Chris's good books than she ever could have imagined, but will he be worth the effort? As ever with Liz's romances, only time will tell...
