Iain is dumped with yet another paramedic partner, Jez. He doesn’t make a great first impression, turning up on the wrong day, but Iain agrees to take him out on rounds.

With the aim of taking Cal, Ethan and Emilie to a hostel, Emilie tells her sons that she wishes she could go to a particular bay one last time. Cal decides to hijack the ambulance to take her there, leaving Iain and Jez at the side of the road.

They manage to make it to their old holiday destination at the beach and as Emilie takes a turn for the worse, they decide to open their results from the genetics lab. But will both turn out negative or will a dark cloud appear?

Lofty arrives at work despondently and has to attend a panel to discuss what happened with Diana. He comes face to face with the consequences of his actions and decides to miss the hearing to help Lana instead. He has a life-changing decision to make - but will he make the right choice?

Clinical Lead Connie Beauchamp is on the warpath this week, and Cal is in danger of being fired when he fails to show up to work yet again!

Even though Ethan is still furious with his brother for hiding their adoption and birthmother’s degenerative, Huntington’s disease from him, the kind-hearted medic doesn’t want Cal to loose his job. So he gives him a call. It goes straight to voice mail, however, as Cal has his hands full caring their deathly ill mum, Emilie!

Later, Ethan’s shocked when both Cal and Emilie are admitted to the ED! Cal’s injured them both when he fell trying to move his poorly mum. As it’s Ethan’s first time facing his birth mother since he discovering he was adopted, sparks soon fly between the brothers… Will Ethan ever forgive Cal? And can he accept Emilie has his mother?

Elsewhere, hospital favourite Lofty is inconsolable and utterly distraught after the death of agency nurse Diana. With the news spreading like wildfire to the heads of the hospital, and Lofty in a tailspin, Dylan advises him to be careful about what he says…

Meanwhile, the hospital launches an immediate investigation into the tragic death. Did Lofty accidentally kill her, or was something else to blame?

There’s also an unlikely pairing this week as dour doctor Lily and fun loving paramedic Iain end up working together at a Holby festival. It’s fair to say Iain is missing Dixie!
