Coming up on Coronation Street, no-nonsense Erica Holroyd decides to live for the moment by making a play for Dev Alahan.

Erica (Claire King) decides to go for it following some advice from her new friend Mary Taylor, who's noticed the spark between her and Dev and approves of the possible match.

Nosy Mary claims that it's obvious they both fancy each other and they should stop pussyfooting about, but it seems that Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) might have other ideas when he shows off his new date Karen.

As Erica isn't prepared to give up on Dev so easily, she and Mary hatch a cunning plan to put off Karen for good. When Mary tells Karen that she's just the latest in a long line of girlfriends for Dev as he's such a womaniser, it works a treat as Karen does a runner from the date.

With Dev on his own again, glammed-up Erica goes in for the kill and plants a kiss on him. After a scheme that would have made Emmerdale's Kim Tate proud, has Erica bagged her man?

Carla and Nick - Coronation Street - ITV
And will Nick accept Carla's advice and agree to sell the Bistro to Robert?

Perdita
23-02-2016, 05:27
As Nick mulls over Robert and Leanne's separate offers for the Bistro, he vows to make a decision by the end of the day. Carla is filled with dread. When Richie calls in the factory and transfers £30,000 to Underworld's account as a down payment on his order, Carla's ears prick up.

Later, having stolen £10,000 from the factory account, Carla hands Tracy the cash. Tracy reminds her that she now needs to make sure Nick sells the Bistro to Robert. However, when Johnny confronts Carla about the missing money, is the game up already?

Meanwhile, Eva throws a sickie so that she can spend the day looking after Marta. Marta is clearly not well, but she refuses point blank to see a doctor. When Aidan calls, Eva hides Marta while she gets rid of him. But Marta reckons she's causing too much trouble and before Eva can stop her, she does a runner from the flat.

Elsewhere, Bethany fails to show up for the school parents' evening. Gail and Sarah are shocked to discover that Bethany has been bunking off regularly.

Also, upset to see Izzy in so much pain, Gary promises to phone a mate and try to score some cannabis for her.

Finally, Mary cajoles Erica and Liz into joining her for a girls' night out on the town.

Carla points out to Johnny that she's a director of Underworld and claims that she just borrowed the money. Will Johnny accept this?

At the same time, Tracy shows Robert the £10,000, claiming that she has dipped into her flower shop funds. Robert is thrilled. Tracy tells Nick they'd like to up their offer for the Bistro by a further £10k. Nick confides in Carla that he'd rather sell to Leanne, but Carla is adamant that he'd be foolish not to take the extra cash. Will Nick accept Carla's advice and agree to sell the Bistro to Robert?

Meanwhile, Mary hits the cocktails and tries to chat up a guy at the bar. Liz and Erica suggest she reins herself in, but Mary is on a roll. As Dev and Erica help drunken Mary into Number 7, Mary points out it's obvious they fancy each other. Dev and Erica mask their embarrassment.

Elsewhere, Bethany's teacher explains to a shocked Sarah how many times they've tried to contact her about her daughter's lack of attendance. Sarah realises Bethany must have intercepted all the letters and emails. Blaming herself for her lack of parenting skills, Sarah demands to know where Bethany has been and why she's been bunking off school.

Also, with Billy's help, Eva catches up with Marta. In the safety of the rectory, Marta explains how the O'Driscolls kept her as a slave and confiscated her passport. Billy and Eva are horrified.

Finally, Izzy is grateful when Gary arrives with some cannabis and apologises for forcing him to break the law. Gary heads home, clearly worried about her.

Johnny reminds Aidan and Eva of the importance of their dinner date at the O'Driscolls', as they're crucial to the future of the factory. Eva tells Billy that she plans to use the evening to slip away from dinner and find Marta's passport.

While dinner is served at the O'Driscolls', Eva sets about her mission. Aidan is shocked to find Eva rifling through Julia's office drawers. Pulling out a passport, Eva explains that it belongs to Marta and the O'Driscolls were keeping her as their slave. But as Richie and Julia enter the room, will Eva be caught in the act?

Meanwhile, Mary tells Erica that it's obvious she and Dev fancy each other and should stop pussy-footing about. When Dev shows off his new date Karen, Erica and Mary form a plan to scupper his evening. Introducing herself as Dev's nanny, Mary tells Karen that she's just one in a long line of girlfriends as Dev is such a womaniser. As Karen leaves horrified, Erica approaches dressed to the nines and kisses him on the lips. Is it mission accomplished?

Elsewhere, Phelan flirts with Eileen at The Rovers while Michael seethes. Aware that Andy is saving up for a holiday, Phelan offers him some labouring work and Andy gratefully accepts. Phelan is pleased, knowing how annoyed Michael will be.

Also today, Sarah escorts Bethany to school and makes it clear that she'll be checking up on her from now until her exams.

Finally, Tracy calls in the Bistro and starts throwing her weight around as she assumes her position of joint owner, but how will Robert feel about her interference?

During Sarah's baby scan, the midwife reveals that she's having a boy. Back at home, the family prepare for Sarah's baby shower and David and Kylie break the news to Max that he's soon to have a half-brother.

Bethany arrives late having been set upon by a gang of school bullies, calling her a 'skank' and an unwanted child. As Sarah demands to know where she's been, an upset Bethany loses her temper. Hurling the baby cake at the wall, she tells Sarah the whole thing is a farce as she never wanted Callum's baby in the first place.

Ushering the guests out, Sarah turns on Bethany, demanding to know what's got into her...

Meanwhile, a stony-faced Johnny tells Aidan that Richie has agreed to a meeting. Pointing out they could all lose their jobs, Aidan orders Eva to take the day off. Eva regales Billy with her disastrous evening at the O'Driscolls'. Billy adds to her woes, telling her that Marta has done a runner having stolen cash and his phone.

Realising she completely misjudged Marta, Eva feels awful. At the factory, Richie tells Johnny and Aidan that he won't be cancelling his orders but Eva must be sacked immediately. Will Aidan agree to get rid of Eva?

Elsewhere, Michael is put out to find Phelan at Number 11, cooking breakfast for Eileen and Jason. Andy sets off for his first day labouring. After a hard day's graft, Andy joins Phelan and Jason for a drink. Furious to discover Andy is now working for Phelan, Michael accuses Phelan of trying to take over his life.

Also, after their night of passion, Erica's flirty with Dev, but he's cool towards her. Erica is left puzzled over his behaviour.

Bethany continues to lash out, suggesting that Sarah should put the baby up for adoption as she's a terrible mother. Sarah is left hurt, while Todd finds an upset Bethany and offers a shoulder to cry on. She's about to tell Todd about the bullying, but she's thwarted when Jason arrives.

Whilst Kylie scrapes cake off the wall, Sarah frets about Bethany as she's convinced there is more to this than a teenage strop. Bethany returns and tells Sarah how sorry she is. Sarah hugs her tightly. As she heads home, Bethany receives an abusive text from the bully. Her phone then beeps again and again with one abusive text after another. Bethany sobs her heart out.

Meanwhile, deeply upset, Eva confides in Liz that Aidan has taken a hardline approach to her mistake with the O'Driscolls. Billy suggests that by using the tracker app on the phone she stole, they could find Marta. Eva reckons they deserve some answers.

Elsewhere, Erica breaks the ice with Dev, likening them to the contestants on First Dates. Dev relaxes and invites her back to Number 7, explaining that the kids are at a sleepover. Will Erica takes his lead?

Also, embarrassed by Michael's performance, Eileen demands to know what his beef is with Phelan. Michael struggles to put it into words and Eileen is annoyed.

Finally, having earwigged on Norris and Mary's campaign chat, Sally forms a plan and announces she's going to be the face of family values.

Back in the real world of course, neither of them would. It will be the candidate from a major political party (and, as it's Manchester, it would almost certainly be Labour). Just talking to a few people that you already know in the pub and on one street is just laughable. They need to be out leafletting, knocking on doors and generally getting out and about round the whole ward, not just an infinitesimal part of it.

As I've said before, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! :wall::wall::wall:

Exactly how we had to do it when my husband was standing for election and that was when he was in a safe labour seat! It went on for months and my house was campaign headquarters for three candidates.
