Jade a Jewel in TV Crown - Singer to star on Home and Away

Pop singer Samantha Jade is joining Summer Bay.

Having impressed with her first acting outing as Kylie Minogue in the INXS telemovie, Jade will begin filming on Home and Away.

"I'm always asked when I will do more acting & now I am saying yes, I am coming to the Bay," Jade told the Saturday Telegraph.

"It is really exciting. I've wanted to do more acting & I wanted to do something unexpected & different and this is very very different to Kylie (Minogue).

Jade, 28, will play the character of Isla but is sworn to secrecy on details of the role as her scenes will not premiere on Seven until early next year.

"I can't say too much but I can say she comes to the Bay with bad intentions. She has a bit of a past & she falls for one of the favourite boys on the show," she said.

Like many Australians, Jade grew up watching H&A, which has been on air for 27 years. And learning lines doesn't intimidate her.

"We have to learn songs all the time, so learning lines doesn't worry me, it is saying the lines without reading them, that's hard. That's what I am nervous about."

Jade won the 2012 season of The X Factor Australia & became one of the country's biggest pop stars.

While not able to divulge too much about her new job, she hinted viewers will see her character appear in a bikini on the world famous beach of Summer Bay.

"Maybe. It is always a bit nerve-racking for a girl (being filmed in swimwear) but if they shoot it right, I'd like them to make me look a bit taller," she said.

Jade will release a new album in October.

"There's lots going on at the moment, which is really exciting", she said.

I am not sure who qualifies as "favourite boys" on the show these days, but given her "questionable" background, IMO there are only 3 real candidates: Ash, Kyle & Andy (I think the Producers see these 3 as the shows favourite boys!). As for Ash & Kyle, whoever loses out eventually in their "battle" for Phoebe, would be a candidate. I would prefer her to fall for Andy, to save us any more Hannah/Andy drama (with Andy now split from Charlotte, I don't see them wanting their poster boy to be single for too long. I keep hearing that he will end up back with Hannah, but I really hope she stays with Chris, which is off to a good/cute start). Any thoughts?

This an article from Dailymail.co.uk re Samantha Jade filming. There are a couple of pics of her with 2 young kids - the article says they are actors (rather than just visitors on the set), but I am not sure whether that is just Daily Mail guessing? It also mentions Nic Westaway (Kyle) as a British actor - I think they are confusing him with Kyle Pryor (Nate). The last 2 pics are of her standing next to Nic, so maybe that is how the rumours of her character Isla hooking up with Kyle started?

Yes, I saw her on X Factor last night where she said that she had finished filming already. When she mentioned that she had left, she was being interviewed by host Luke Jacobz (who of course played Angelo on H&A) & he suggested she should have got a job at Angelo's!!! She also described her character of Isla as "a bit of a psycho" - not another one!! Yesterday I read an article on her appearance on X Factor, which was to perform her new song, where it said that she had an "extended guest role" on H&A. As she has already left then it means she was on the show for less than 2 months (her scenes don't air till next year). Nic Westaway (Kyle) has mentioned in a couple of previous interviews that he was keen to try his luck overseas when his time on H&A finishes (do I remember him also saying that his contract finishes sometime mid 2016??? Not sure), so with the earlier rumours/pictures that Kyle & Isla may get together, could this be part of his exit storyline?? Even if Kyle doesn't end up with Isla, maybe being involved with (another) psycho may make him decide to finally move on from the Bay?? (this is just a theory of course - I have no idea what really happens!)

Samantha Jade has landed a guest role in Home and Away - and admitted that she previously turned down a musical part on the soap.

The singer​ has been cast as dangerous mother ​Isla Schultz​, who arrives in Summer Bay with bad intentions and will immediately encounter show regular Kyle Braxton.

Speaking to West Australia, Jade ​said: "I had actually been offered a part on Home and Away before but playing a singer, so I didn't want to do something that was similar to Kylie or actually in music at all.

"My next acting role, I was really, really adamant about it being something that is totally different to me and anything to do with music, so this role was really appealing to me because she is nothing like me."

Speaking about Isla, Jade added: "She is a dangerous mother. Obviously since the show hasn't aired yet I can't say too much but she does come to the Bay with some bad intentions.

"She meets Kyle and the rest is going to unfold from there."

Isla's first scenes will air ​in Australia on Thursday, March 3 and later in the year in the UK.

The rumours were that they might be his, but the promos for Isla's upcoming episodes have shown her introducing herself to Kyle at the restaurant when she first arrives in SB, so they mustn't know each other from before then (which I gather then would mean the kids won't be his). Not sure if I remember correctly, bit I think I read somewhere a while back that she may have some kind of past connection to Danny Braxton??
